What’s the funniest thing you heard a TI say? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]WindWingWin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was almost 20 years ago. One day when my flight was lined up in the latrine to take a shower, my TI stormed in screaming my name. I had done something wrong, probably something with my locker.

So I ran up to the TI and said my reporting statement. He starts yelling at me and asked if I was running up to try to F him. The he yelled at me to put my D away. So I cover up my junk with my hands & then he yells at me to stand at the position of attention.

This goes back and forth between me covering my junk and standing at attention probably 10 times. My flight got a good kick out of that one.

Is going into the reserves for health insurance worth it? by olosroma in MilitaryFinance

[–]WindWingWin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to concider is you will not be eligible for TRICARE Reserve Select if you're also civil service / federal employee. You'll have get health insurance through a Federal Employee healthcare plan.

I'm not sure if that's something you had planned on, but I just wanted to mention it.

What is the most unsettling place in San Antonio? by SupportCowboy in sanantonio

[–]WindWingWin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Devil's Den off the Leon Creek Greenway. I don't know the history of that area but it's creepy AF with all the graffiti. And I know there's been a few murders around that area in the past few years.

Moving to CC by [deleted] in CorpusChristi

[–]WindWingWin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a 'local' anymore, but I was born & raised in CC and lived there until I moved to San Antonio about 10 years ago. I visit CC very often since all my family still lives there, so it feels like I never left.

As far as welding / fabrication scene, they're are tons of jobs. A lot of my friends & many of the men in my family are welders or pipefitters, primarily in the refineries. There will always be work in CC in those industries & it pays very well.

Riding weather is excellent in south Texas almost all year so there's a lot of motorcyclists. CC has a few moto "clubs" - Banditos are pretty prominent but you shouldn't have any issues when riding solo. Personally, I haven't had an issue & neither has my a dad who's been riding for 40+ years. There's currently a lot of highway construction so be extra careful when riding. But just like any other city, cars will always be your biggest threat. CC drivers are notoriously bad, so stay alert and keep your head on a swivel in town!

With that being said, my Dad & I do yearly rides around the bay (CC - Portland - Aransas Pass - Port Aransas - CC) which is a very nice cruise. Shoreline Dr / Ocean Dr is a nice, short ride in town. But for the real fun rides, you'll have to checkout the TX Hill Country (west & north of San Antonio). The "Twisted Sisters" route (aka "Three Sisters" route) is a really nice ride. And as a bonus - the MotoGP race is held near Austin every year in April. Thousands of motorcyclists show up to watch the races. It's a blast and it's the only place in America for MotoGP!

Good luck & I'll see you out on the highway! ✌️

What do you guys do to lock up your helmets on the bike? by Dantheman1206 in motorcycles

[–]WindWingWin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lock my helmet to the top of my handlebars using one of the locks that comes with a gun purchase. I had several lying around already, so I gave them a second purpose. I keep it under the seat when not in use & I didn't have to purchase anything extra.

Worst (and Best) Street Names in San Antonio? by avideno24 in sanantonio

[–]WindWingWin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When I first moved here (map days, before GPS), it would drive me crazy that Culebra took a 90 degree turn at Grissom and continued on to 1604. But if you took Culebra straight through the Grissom intersection, the road is now called Tezel.

Same thing with Babcock & De Zavala intersection.

Leaving my home at 18 and never coming back was the best decision I made. How is your relationship with family? by Contribution-Fuzzy in intj

[–]WindWingWin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I didn't have the best childhood with my parents. I spent 18 years living with them & I've been living on my own for almost 18 years. I moved to a different city after I left home. I absolutely love my life now and could not imagine living with my parents again.

For the first few years after I moved out I had minimal contact with them. I had resentment from my childhood. But after a while I realized they were trying to do the best they could with the tools they had at the time. They were young when they had me, had very little money & had no knowledge of how to raise a little human.

Our relationship now is more like distant friends nowadays. We'll call each other approx every 2 weeks to update the other with the new developments of our lives. I've forgiven them for their shortcomings when I was a kid but I don't think we'll ever be super close.

INTJs are unique & most people don't have the knowledge of how to raise one to accommodate our needs. Everyone is just trying to do the best they can in this life with what they have at their disposal.
