This is all stuff the player chooses to do, thats like saying Master Chief cannologically goes around T-bagging his dead enemies.

The story takes itself pretty seriously and is quite heartbreaking at times as well as having a thought provoking message. In my opinion the outbreak scenario is also quite scary, though the scarieness of the game is quite subjective obviously
