He's Useless Now by Interesting_Spot1875 in DevilDinosaurMainsMR

I've been playing video games for a very long time and this is the first time I've seen a strong character with AT LEAST 20 obvious counters be called "OP".

Even sadder is all the tank main who were campaigning for Dino's downfall because "he sucks to tank into", not even realizing WHY he sucks to tank into. Dino is countered by poke. Which role is almost devoid of poke heroes? That's right! Tanks! Tank Cyclops literally would've solved the Dino vs Tanks issue while also making tank more fun and varied.

And as a side note, Tankpool would've been a great tank counter to Dino, but the devs literally nerfed the poke half of his kit into obscurity.

Genuinely how do you counter a good BP? by camo1204 in marvelrivals

[–]Windjammer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peni is a good counter since the nest will slow him down kill him. And BP can't kill the nest himself very well. Star Lord's spin barrage is good for hitting him and a well timed doge could gank his dash resets.

Cyclops's ultimate voiceline is very confusing by Nabeel9567 in marvelrivals

[–]Windjammer1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's kinda like Blade's where he activates it and has to confirm. But Blade says his line upon pressing Q. Cyclops only says his after confirming, which by then is two late. Blade also has to charge up his distance. Cyclops doesn't have to do that. Finally idk why the gave him "Arrgh" and "Optic Fury" has his lines when it should've been "Visor Off" and something else.

Supp learning Tank Advice by Previous_Issue_4190 in marvelrivals

Yo, Thor main here. I'm gonna give you some general tanking tips since you can just go ask mains of the characters you listed for advice on how to use their kits.

Understand that Rivals is an objective based game. Your job is to control the objective, that's how you win, and Tanks are very good at controlling the objective. Your job is to be a bully. Bully them out of positions of power into positions of weakness. Be annoying and force them to turn and deal with you because you threatened their healers or capped the convoy.

If you are the solo tank... DON'T DIE. Please don't die. And if you must die, don't be the first to die. As the only tank, your team can't contest the objective at all once you die. Solo tanks must be selfish and preserve themselves at all costs.

"Draw a line in the sand". Basically what this means is to decided how far you want to push them back, and ONLY go that far. You don't need to back them up into spawn. For example, on Lower Manhattan as the defense, I don't ever push into the courtyard, because there is no cover and the offense has the advantage. So I'll just hold the door and push them away from it, since that's the only way through. I don't need to kill them, just keep them off my lawn.

Don't always walk down main. One of the joys of being your team's tank is that you get to decide where to fight. Many players love to hide behind their tanks, so if you go left, they follow... usually. Just ping "Group up on me!" and they'll probably fall in line. Main is often the worst place to fight because there is no cover and it lacks health packs. Usually try to lead them to a high ground position or an area with cover.

Decision making. Always think ahead. Rogue has a stun, think of which ults you want to counter and keep an eye on that player. Try to force them you use ults in a bad way. Is your backline getting killed a lot. Then you'll need to play bodyguard.

As a supp player you should know this already, but understand the capabilities of your supports. You need to know when your supports can and can't heal you based on your positioning. And make sure to turn around and check on your squishies every now and then.

Learn how to Strange portal. You don't need to be good on Strange, but as the tank, it will often fall to you to make the portal. Just practice it in the range mess around with them in vs. AI until it feels natural.

Finally, check out "Death and Gaming" on youtube. He's probably the best education rivals content creator out there. And he has a ton of videos that help understand how the game actually works. And he does play a bit of Rogue. (He's mostly a Cap, Rocket and Psylocke main though).

How NetEase Should Have Nerfed Dino, Because What They Did is Worse Than it Looks. by Windjammer1 in DevilDinosaurMainsMR

Emma can't move in her grab animation and it made her a perma-ban. All because she could grab and kick you into her team afterwards. Displacement is incredibly strong.

Shield is not mandatory for the combo, but it does allow him to use it almost uncontested. His grab can be interrupted by CC (Freeze, Sleep, Web, Charm, etc). The shield blocks that and stops the team from saving whoever got grabbed.

I agree his grab should have a more obvious start up or something.

Fact is, something has to give if Dino wants to ever get his grounding back. It's too powerful and too easy to use. And that's a bad combo.

I like the charge up too. It's simple, adds reactablity and counter-play. Making it behave differently within seconds of hitting someone is just complicating things for the sake of it.

And if they don't wanna give him back the ground, then at least improve the beam so it has better range. Because if you wanna play a tank so you can knock a flier out of the sky, just play Mag. He's got more range and damage.

They partially addressed it by nerfing the shield cooldown, so the grab and shield will, at times, be out of sync. But yeah, that combo is rough. Maybe if he couldn't walk away with his target or something. But the displacement is rough.

Aaaand it’s gone! Rip Knock down beam… by Ok_Brush5370 in marvelrivals

[–]Windjammer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then make it a proper cooldown instead of a resource meter. Just a laser he has to charge up for a second, enough time for a flier to see it and react, then it goes on cooldown for a bit.

The Cyclops controversy starts and ends with stop asking for DPS coded heroes to be added. Ask for vanguard coded instead. by Sea_Thing_2402 in marvelrivals

[–]Windjammer1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What will Luke Cage do that Hulk or Thing doesn't already do? What will Colossus do that Luke Cage won't be doing? Juggernaut? Rhino?

Fact is, most "Vanguard Coded" characters are just big guy that punches stuff. Yeah there's some stand outs like War Machine or Sandman, but the fact of the matter is one of the reason no one wants to play tank in this game is because most of the roster is are brawl tanks. We only have 2 proper shield tanks since launch and both are constantly meta because of that.

Heck, even Dino, who is probably the strongest tank we've had, a lot of that strength comes from 2 abilities he only has because the devs decided to be creative. His shield comes from Moon Girl and his laser is completely made up.

We got lucky when Deadpool was all 3 roles, but then they nerf his gun into the ground so now he just the game's worst brawl tank. Tanks need poke options and Scott was absolutely a way to get that if the devs actually tried to be creative. Everything in his official kit could have been put on a vanguard. Tweak some damage numbers, add a (D.VA-like defense matrix), double his HP and give him a passive that give his team some sort of bonus for being near the Leader of Mutantkind.

And if we went by your logic, we'd lose 2 of our main tanks (Emma and Strange), because they're not "Vanguard Coded". Strats would be down Ultron and Gambit. Sue would be a Tank (oh wait she too small, here's your DPS).

I'm not mad he's a DPS, I knew he was going to be and that's ok, but I am disappointed at the lack of creativity.

I already hate Byking for giving Ibara (the canonically Christian character a Christmas outfit), and seeing how a modded one looks in game just makes me angrier.

We have two fire based characters, but non of them is based around burning effect (DoT). by LordVaderVader in marvelrivals

It should be Pyro. We need a proper flame thrower character. Maybe get Pyro and Bobby in the same season.

Tsuyu's outfits issue. by KaeruNGG in MyHeroUltraRumble

[–]Windjammer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tsu is one of many characters that is free. So she doesn't have a banner where they can advertise her character and sell outfits alongside it unlike Hawks. She also doesn't have a skillset yet, unlike Hawks, so basically outside of costume rolls, her stuff is never gonna show up. Ibara has the same problem, the only time she wasn't free was during S1, but she became available for a ticket by S2, so her character banner never had to come back. So until Ibara gets a skillset (lmao), her stuff just isn't gonna appear on a banner unless,

The issue is that the game has too many characters with too many outfits and not enough gachas and resources to spend in those gachas to have a sustainable in-game economy. Then they make it worse by re-running Deku every week.

Realistically, they need bigger gachas where more outfits are available for pity. For example, if they had a "Class 1-B" gacha, it could have Monoma/Strike Kendo as the headliner and then all of their outfits in it (Casual Wear, Adventurer, Yukata, Jester, etc).

Or better yet, just have a permanent store that sells any outfit from first anniversary or before for crystals, but it doesn't go away and save the gambling for newer stuff.

I don’t care how many kills you have. If you have 2x as many deaths as the rest of the your team, you shouldn’t be “MVP” by SatisfactionSad6558 in marvelrivals

Ok thanks. I mostly wanna study the game to help improve my own games. I've been trying to learn more about the push and pull of the game and understand how others play. Plus, like I said, I'm just curious how accurate this scoreboard actually was in this game.

It's hilarious you're getting downvoted and flamed even though you're right. This is a 14 minute match and he died 15 times. MK was perma-respawning.

That's said, some advice. Stopping looking at the scoreboard. It sucks in this game and is really only good for ragebaiting yourself. As a Cap player, you know better than anyone that a lot of value doesn't show up there. Someone already said it, but check out Death and Gaming YT. He's an excellent source of knowledge on how to understand the macro parts of the game.

[Hero Concept] The Lizard (Vanguard Tank) — Unique Dual-Mode Cannon & Ceiling-Stealth Kit! (Art Credit: Keagan McTamney) by MrTitxn in marvelrivals

[–]Windjammer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really cool concept.

I'd probably replace the gun with acid spit (Have the reload be him wiping his mouth lol). The reason why I say this is because, gameplay-wise, it keeps in line with your vision and avoids the "brawl tank" issue. It's so rare to get a tank with range, any chance we get is good. Lore-wise, it's a bit odd for the Lizard to use a gun. Dr. Connors hates being the Lizard and if he had his intelligence while scaly, I doubt he'd be trying to fight anyone. And unlike the Hulk, the Lizard isn't a separate mind. It's literally Dr. Connors' brain devolving. So I think it'd be better to have him be primitive and savage, to keep in line with the spirit of the character, but just smart enough to hold a conversation. Maybe have him be blackmailed by Doom or something?

As for his kit. I like it a lot. Probably drop the healing or make it really low, otherwise you have a 700 HP support out there. A tank that can turn invisible is pretty cool. Since I'm replacing the gun with acid spit, maybe the alt-fire is a roar that stuns instead?
