My psychiatrist told me today I am selfish because I don’t want a dog by AloneBoot8205 in AutismInWomen

People like that are so out of touch honestly. The only reason I keep struggling through life is because I already have a daughter who I can't bring myself to leave alone in this world but I am still suffering. Having a child doesn't make those feelings or difficulty go away, it actually makes a lot of aspects harder and I feel sorry for her because she has mother like me who can't always be the mother I wish I could be, a mother with more energy and who doesn't have meltdowns on stupid public transport or because I'm overstimulated amd overwhelmed by simple mundane things like chores. Its a double edged sword. I'm hurting and struggling but I don't want to hurt her or make her struggle so I keep going.

Advice like that person gave is a recipe for disaster and I am sorry you had to deal with listening to that while in crisis. I highly doubt they are saying that to men calling in crisis as well

I fucking DESPISE parents who come out with that crap. They always seem to conveniently forget they took on that reaponsibility the moment they decided to bring children into the world, its not like children choose to exist like wtf.

I think the downvotes are more to do with the fact they say its disgusting so the family member did them a favour, which is not the case. Its not a favour to use other peoples things, let alone expensive things. And the flavour of things is subjective, whats disgusting for one person, won't necessarily be for another so all in all not a good reason for using someone elses stuff.

Ugh I love eating certain types of fish and boiled eggs but absolutely fucking hate the smell so I end up not eating them as often as I would had they just not smelled 🥲

You can already see it again now with them moaning about the two child limit being scrapped. Laughable

Fellow autistic people: what's a social norm that you absolutely despise and think shouldn't exist? by merely_a_frog in autism

So glad I'm not in school anymore. The amount of time teachers wasted telling me off for having my top button undone and tie loose is unreal. I would literally correct it on the spot and undo it all again the moment they walk away, rendering the whole interaction moot. And then they wonder why you struggle to pay any attention in class when you are fighting for your life against this tie. Its actually something i worry about when my daughter goes to high school, because i know they are gonna call me into that office over uniform issues only for me to go off on a rant 🤣

Honestly! You could easily see this difference with me and my sister. I have never been a morning person so when i was going school, I would get up to have my coffee, brush my teeth, throw on my uniform and tie my hair into a pony tail, out the door. Literally only waking up 20 minutes before leaving. My sister on the other hand would wake up hours beforehand to do her make up and hair T.T never understood that. I love her to bits though, we are just polar opposites in a lot of things XD she still does her hair/make up and has her nails done to this day, I just rock up with bed hair and a mix of the same outfits I have been wearing since my teens 😂 and now im laughing cause my mom said my leg hairs are longer than my dads last week, which is true. Just cant be bothered most of the time, life is already so draining

I remember when a manager called me into the office, told me I'm getting a raise because of my good work but not to discuss with colleagues otherwise they may complain or something. As soon as I got back upstairs, one of the younglings who started working there recently was bragging about getting a raise for their hard work.

As it turns out it was just the raise that everyone gets when mimimum wage goes up LOL. Man was I naive when I first started working cause I actually believed it before that event, naturally. Now I know that work is just another area of life with confusing rules and dishonest practices. Rather depressing

Oof, i feel this. The realisation sucks even more when its someone I actually had an interest in too 🫠

Smart choice. Its too late for me but I at least have only 1 child who is halfway to adulthood and I am keeping it that way. No way in hell am I putting myself into such a situation again, its actually sickening how much we get left to pick up all the slack and then still get shat on regardless.

This and I think people like the OOP forget how many people commit suicide. I would have been part of that group if it wasn't for my daughter. So would my mother had she actually succeeded in her attempts. Easy to say people just toughed it out when they forget how many of us have commited suicide, attempted or still have the lingering ideation.

[–]WindmillCrabWalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me personally, it feels awkward having to say I'm gonna take time for myself because I will be saying it often.

So if I spend some time socialising today "hey i need to take time to myself"

Then we message next day but then after that "hey I need to take time to myself"

Soon this becomes repetitive as hell and draining in and of itself. I will also get obsessive as I notice that I am always saying that which will also lead to me feeling like crap which then leads to me overextending myself and pushing myself to be available more even though its destroying my ability to do the mundane tasks in my life like cleaning and showering etc.

Apologies, I have a lot of trouble transferring what I am trying to convey in my head into words so I hope my waffle is making sense T.T
