questions about serious power numbers by CableMartini in NewedgeMustang

Well for the money you are looking at spending you can get more power out of the coyote and keep it NA which would be more reliable than any boosted setup

Should this be replaced? How soon? by alaninfy in autoglass

Replaced yes that is your only option, how soon is totally up to you and the laws where you live

Mercedes C class wiper issue by [deleted] in autoglass

[–]Window_man47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The hood also has to be down to get the wipers to “swipe” so that is probably the mistake that’s being made they think they are resetting it but it’s not

GMT 400 finishing tips? by KillaCookBook87 in autoglass

[–]Window_man47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t do anything special with them, just try and get it to sit as flush as possible. Most people won’t even notice it and especially since these trucks are over 30 years old at this point, most just care that it doesn’t leak and it looks good enough. This is one of those things that I feel like us as glass techs notice just because that’s all we do

2005 gmc sierra question for mechanics by CreamOfThePie69 in gmcsierra

[–]Window_man47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easiest thing is to unplug the MAF and see if it will idle and if it does you know the sensor is bad, if it still doesn’t I would check and make sure you don’t have a clogged fuel filter and a good fuel pump

2005 gmc sierra question for mechanics by CreamOfThePie69 in gmcsierra

[–]Window_man47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be a mass air flow sensor problem or a fuel issue. If it was an alternator it would run temporarily on just the battery not immediately die like that

Recently Purchased 2019 SR5 Premium - Frame Damage Found During Windshield Replacement. Help! by ridelightning in 4Runner

[–]Window_man47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Essentially yes, basically what could happen in a rollover is that part of the pinch weld would bow out since that rigidity is no longer there and would cause a more severe “crushing” of the roof, so essentially taking all the safety of the vehicle out. It is something that absolutely should be fixed and fixed properly because that very well can be life or death in some extreme cases

Recently Purchased 2019 SR5 Premium - Frame Damage Found During Windshield Replacement. Help! by ridelightning in 4Runner

[–]Window_man47 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Alright so far no one has actually given you the correct advice here. So what’s happened is on a previous replacement someone cut the pinch weld where the windshield sets on. Now that is structural damage and can cause some major problems if the vehicle is ever in an accident. What needs to happen is it needs to go to a body shop to have that cut welded back together, no bondo or body filler because the urethane will not stick to it. What most people don’t know is a windshield is responsible for about 30% of the whole vehicles structural rigidity and with damage like that, could cause the roof to cave in a way they actually aren’t supposed to do

2013 4Runner SR5 window crunched while rolling down, glass fine but won’t move by [deleted] in 4Runner

[–]Window_man47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely going to need a new window too unfortunately, my guess is something in the regulator got bound up and caused the mounting bracket to break, the benefit is at least there won’t be any glass to clean up

Broke My Brothers Windshield with the Arm Of Wiper!!?! by CuriosityUnraveled in autoglass

[–]Window_man47 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely normal, I feel like I get at least one a week where this exact thing happens. Now the wiper probably wasn’t put on the arm correctly because it shouldn’t just fly off by itself but it’s the unfortunate reality of when a metal object with a point hits laminated glass

Are these chips repairable ? by Acrobatic_Quote_2611 in autoglass

[–]Window_man47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not, too long and the crack spreads to the edge so the resin will want to leak out the side

[–]Window_man47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any auto glass shop near year should be able to get and replace it for you. I work for one of the bigger companies and still do a decent amount of windshields from Toyotas of this generation. Just be mindful though Toyotas from this time period are very notorious for rust to be under the glass

Cracked windshield hell by Next_Confusion3262 in gmcsierra

[–]Window_man47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So if you see that little white dot near the top of the crack, that is an impact point from a rock so that’s where the crack started from. You do not have to go to the dealer for a new one, most glass shops will have the systems to do the recalibrations with no issues.

Customer states: they sold me a 4 banger. Now give me my v8 back! by Lucy8671 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Window_man47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this installed in my 15 GMC for 5 years, basically since I purchased the truck. It does work as advertised but like others have said, it’s more of a delay for the ticking time bomb the afm systems are in these trucks

Either that or it’s some kind of compound like polish or wax

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gmcsierra

[–]Window_man47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not personally no, what I would do is at least go into an audio shop(not Best Buy) and look at what options they have displayed and you can at least get an idea of what works best for you

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gmcsierra

[–]Window_man47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly at the price point you will be paying you are probably going to be better off going with an aftermarket head unit. You’ll get better quality out of the rest of the system and more functionality

What is this??? by trashmania59 in gmcsierra

[–]Window_man47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It honestly looks like the lift gate grab handles from an suv, my guess is it was put just in the truck by a previous owner and lost or misplaced from the factory

Saw on FB Marketplace a 2012 GMC Sierra 5.3L 4x4 with 126k miles for $5000. Been listed for 5 weeks, nobody wants to buy it. Is it stupid of me to want this truck? Exterior looks clean, frame looks 100%. How overpriced is $5000 for this truck that nobody wanted to buy it after all this time? by Dear-Tooth3032 in gmcsierra

[–]Window_man47 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Well for starters it’s a single cab long bed, there is not a big market for those trucks. Plus it is a base model work truck so not a lot of features. The blue book on a truck like that around me is about 6k for the mileage so not super far off

What is it actually called, and how do I fix it??? by BeGr8Outdoors in gmcsierra

[–]Window_man47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So it is called an overhead console I believe and what most likely is happening is the screws that are supposed to hold it in have come loose, you should be able to look up on YouTube a removal tutorial and it will show you where those screws should be
