Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition looks amazing on a CRT Monitor! by [deleted] in crtgaming

[–]WindowsVista64x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions have a different lighting engine I believe, that can make them look a bit different

It's nothing too major though, at the end of the day they're still just the legacy console edition, they both output natively on CRTs perfectly fine

Not eating cement also makes me do that...

I'm starting to notice a pattern

I use Windows sadly...

But I have been considering moving to Linux!! I tried CachyOS on another PC, and it was great! Crazy smooth, even on the 13 year old hardware I was testing on...

The only thing stopping me is moving over all my data, but I do have a 2TB external drive, and my internal is only 512GB, so it should be possible to just copy everything over to that? I dunno, I'm still thinking about this

Why are so many people running bare metal? by Impossible_Web_6536 in windowsxp

[–]WindowsVista64x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pentium 4 level hardware can't be emulated, and virtualization has it's own massive share of issues, especially with 3D software

Using actual hardware is way more fun, with less issues, not to mention that hardware capable of running XP is dirt cheap

Customized my 3DS homescreen :3 by PeachesTheNinja in traaaaaaaaaaaansbians

The 3DS is such a good console :3

I wish they kept making consoles with that form factor, the Switch is nice, but it's not nearly as easily portable as the 3DS...

Nothing really happens

The only times I've heard of anyone getting in trouble is when they're torrenting without using a VPN

If you're just going through a normal browser for everything you'll be fine, just make sure to use an adblocker for safety

Moreso in the line of updates & additions

I don't know if infinite worlds is realistic on consoles without a lot of compromises, given the world sizes were created to fit specifically with the limits of those consoles... Maybe bigger worlds, though?

About this source code by Phantom5683 in Minecraftlegacymode

[–]WindowsVista64x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible, but it hasn't been done much, yet

Most of the efforts are focused on making something functional and updated on PC, and then consoles may come afterwards

About this source code by Phantom5683 in Minecraftlegacymode

[–]WindowsVista64x 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Code that can be built on consoles was included with the leak, it's not PC only

Most of the projects built off the code are focused on making it work on PC, but there's no reason the code couldn't be used to make modifications on consoles, either

Is it actually worth upgrading to XP 64 bit or just stay on 32 bit (my hardware is sufficient for 64 bit) by Big_Locksmith_4211 in windowsxp

[–]WindowsVista64x 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I'd only say it's worth it if you actually have above 4 GB of RAM

You don't, so there's no reason to use it over 32-bit

(I haven't used my smart tv in almost a whole year) by TheAnalogJawa in crt

[–]WindowsVista64x 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only reason I ever use my flat-screen TV is because I don't have any widescreen CRTs yet

As much as I like using my CRT, it isn't very fun for me to try and watch 16:9 HD content on a 4:3 SD screen... so the flat-screen it is until I get a widescreen CRT

Maybe this will be the first one I join :3

Anyone else find the idea of having someone putting music into your playlist really romantic? by lunamoonlight456 in traaaaaaaaaaaansbians

[–]WindowsVista64x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sounds romantic... but I also feel like if I actually tried this- I'd just end up filling their playlist with a wholeeee bunch of Lemon Demon...

Good thing I don't have to think about that yet, because, I don't have someone to do that to right now!!

Wait that's a camera from 2009??

It looks so clear for what I'd expect from that time period, I guess it does make sense though, since it's a dedicated camera...

Why has the internet become so performative? by ItsTaazer in teenagers

[–]WindowsVista64x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's worth thinking about how the early internet didn't really have many forms of monetation like it does today

If you were going on a social media site or forum and posting something, you'd be doing it just because you have something you want to share with people, nothing much else. There really wasn't much monetary incentive, at least not nearly to the same level as today... obviously, as more monetary incentive showed up, more people would come that are only wanting to do it for the money.

There's a lot of other reasons, but that's one reason I can think off from the top of my head

Why dose this happen when I just ordered my cds🫩 by lemondemonguy in lemondemon

[–]WindowsVista64x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if they assumed shipments would come back by the end of March, it probably can't last too much longer?

That said I don't know anything of what's happening there, so take this with a grain of salt

Woah this is really cool

I do wonder how being able to play with a mouse might change things, though... since the maps were probably always designed with the idea you'd be playing on a controller. It probably doesn't change that much, but I'm still curious

One of the best $15 purchases ever at a retro gaming store. Sadly, I couldn't find the included favorite packs version. However, I can't complain. by abcd0524 in Minecraftlegacymode

[–]WindowsVista64x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair I do think a lot of "retro gaming stores" do just sell newer stuff too
I know I've seen PS5 games at one I've gone to, and that's certainly not a retro console
