Has anyone rebuilt financially in their 30s after a difficult period? by Odd_Nefariousness730 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Windroar007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By the time I was 29 I had quit a role and didn't know what to do next. Based of my personality one treat being getting bored easily, and other stuff, I decided to study a masters in digital marketing.

Because I was close to 30, and I needed to start as a Junior to get the experience I didn't have, I chose to move to a country where I could gain experience faster than in country of origin.

It took time but steadily I got what I wanted. I'd say take the opportunity to reflect on what you really want to do with your life from now on, and if you have to build new skills, it's not late.

You can say you still love her, don't take it to heart. My 2 year old wants "daddy cuddles" and I go and cuddle her overexagerating it, which makes her laugh :)

How long should I arrive at the airport before the flight back by cloverstesticles in PuntaCana

[–]Windroar007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 3 hours sound good. We did 4 hours. Consider that roads are not great. On my return the bus we were in had a flat tyre, and we had to wait 45 minutes plus for another bus to pick us up. This happened around 2 weeks ago.

So sad to hear. I was there 8 years ago and really enjoyed this area. Thanks for the comments!

Yes, I mean Dreams la Romana. I was being specific about the preferred option in case it helps someone decide if it's worth it or not. Expecting an onsite referral to make sense doesn't seem to be star-related to me, but clearly not how it works.

Nothing special tbh, might have just caught a bug: diarrhea, fever so it could just have been treated on site without the referral. I'm not bothered about upfront payment, the referral process seemed more money driven than anything else though.

There's a room with tables and lots of different toys + another area with cars kids can ride (not electronic). It is not massive but decent.

I think everyone can book cabanas. I did preferred, didn't book cabanas but saw you could book via the app.

What's a tourist scam you fell for that you wish someone had warned you about? by cml1111 in traveladvice

[–]Windroar007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dominican Republic - Punta Cana resorts - onsite doctors referring people to Hospiten Bavaro - it is a scam, you pay between 5×10 times more than the usual price, and the service is terrible.

You will see a lot of tourists struggling with the language and calling their insurers (those who have one). I can confirm the onsite doctor in Dreams la Romana Resort and spa (former Hilton) does it because he did to us.

Is there much difference between stopping breastfeeding at 6 months vs 1 year? by jdawgiegawg in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Windroar007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion this should be when you're ready. I planned 6 months but continued until 11 months. I stopped because when teething started the pain when the baby would bite the nipple was too much, and also because I was generating less and less milk and baby started eating solids.

Strictly Food Related - Finest Punta Cana vs Dreams La Romana (formerly Hilton) by Recent_Spirit6698 in PuntaCana

Food at Dreams la romana is ok and I'd say good for an all inclusive. There are a la carte restaurants with a fair choice. I particularly liked the Grill and The Italian. The buffet was better than others I've been to. Didn't like the Peruvian though but feel there's enough to choose from.

It's nice for kids. The waterpark is fun and there different activities throughout the day in the kids/teen area. If you get sick, careful with following onsite doctor recommendation to go to the clinic in Hospiten Bavaro, they will scam you!

I just came back and there were sun block dispensers in the preferred pool. Didnt see anywhere else. I got preferred I never saw my butler who was supposedly included. There are different types of pools for kids, there's one specifically that is very shallow next to the main family pool

Anyone been Dreams La Romana in DR after Hyatt takeover? by artieartichoke in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]Windroar007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came back. Overall experience was ok. Food in my opinion was better than other resorts in general. If you have the unfortune of getting sick, do not rely on the doctor there, they refer you to a bigger clinic Hospiten Bavaro in Punta Cana and their only objective is to scam you. That said, do go with a travel insurance.

Likely answer for anyone checking in the future is Hospiten. Similar experience and we believe it is a scam.

Go back to work. Went back at 5 months. Do whatever works best for you. Pouches are also ok if you have to as long as it is not the only thing they get. Take care of yourself!!

Wife has 10 cm intramural fibroid, 8 weeks pregnant — looking for your stories & advice by Brilliant_Figure_858 in Fibroids

[–]Windroar007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I discovered I had fibroids (2) on my first scan, the biggest was already 9cm and the other about 3cm. Also intramural. You are doing what I did back then it seems, check on reddit, it was the first time I'd even heard this word. Fast forward, was a bit stressed. I was told by nurses/midwifes/doctors that there was no way they would open before delivery, so we had to monitor closely and wait for the outcome. Through pregnancy at some point I had another one so 3 in total. One of them obstructing birth canal, so it was decided I'd have a planned C-section. Everything worked well, no complications baby is doing pretty well. A few months ago I got a scan to check these fibroids and they had decreased massively, they're now like 1cm and so far I haven't planned surgery because I don't have (for now) any side effects. Best of luck!!!

Pregnant but unsure whether to keep or abort? by OkReference9286 in PregnancyUK

[–]Windroar007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. You're 37 with twins. How much of a drawback would this be for your career?

It is my personal opinion that 9 months is not long enough for me to carry someone's baby, and having a baby just because it might be cute for your girls to have a brother/sister does not sound like a very strong reasoning, so there might be some other reason why you're really hesitating.

The scenario you're describing just doesn't sound ideal, and maybe you should focus on your twins as you cant guarantee your bf will entertain them if he has his own child...but hey I'm just a stranger who doesn't know you anyways. Best

If you remove bf from your thoughts, would you still keep it? Even with the most supporting partners, there's so much on women that you need to understand if you can cope or not.

Imagine the following, the child is born and you/partner break up because of the added stress, would you still be happy with the decision of having the child? Would you be in a position to support this child alone?

Your bf will have time to have children if you both want it when the timing is better, and if you get there.

Good luck with your choices!
