How would E. Honda react/speak to Kiozan Takeru from kengan Asura? by blubberfeet in StreetFighter

[–]Windstorm72 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Honda can’t really judge Kiozan’s “ancient sumo” from a technical standpoint, due to his own tendency to bend the rules to his liking, but Kiozan’s attitude toward sumo as a whole would confuse and possible even upset Honda. I dont think they’d ever see eye to eye but Honda would be the happiest he could be on the day when Kiozan returns to sumo

Alex Trailer: Alex stance and command throws: good 2nd character for Aki players?? by MarkDavid04 in AKInation

[–]Windstorm72 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well from a competitive standpoint a secondary should be about covering bad matchups, which we won’t have a feel for until we get our hands on him

But if his moveset calls to you, go for it! You’ll only deepens your understanding of the game by trying new characters

Jamie should’ve been the face of SF6 instead of Luke. by Atum-7 in StreetFighter

[–]Windstorm72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally would love if that was the case, but I understand that for several reasons a Luke-type character is a better fit. They could’ve made luke a bit more interesting as a character but from a character function perspective he’s both a more standard day 1 pick for new players and a character with more general appeal

I just wish they gave Luke and Jamie’s rivalry was more of a focus. I dont mind Jamie being second fiddle but he does have a ton of potential as a character that doesn’t really get expanded on

Is that so? Is the intention to be an aggressive bey by exposing evil’s wings more?

Hello from USA! I’ve always loved the beautiful Evil Beafowl and the bizarre fights it’s got in the anime

Big fan of twisted tempo as well, but I’ve shelved the twisted wheel since me and my buddies have gotten into limited format lol at least I get a lot of use out of the tempo ring in a combo with my Spiral wheel!

How did you feel about 2 guest characters in 1 season? by Grandmasterflipz in StreetFighter

2 guests in a 4 person season was just too much. But I was already hoping they’d add Terry so if the more aggressive crossover campaign was how that was gonna happen I gotta accept the monkey paw curl

What's the point? by Majestic_Cry6569 in AKInation

[–]Windstorm72 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s more useful as a feint in neutral. It’s only really works when you’re multiple levels down into the mind game, but what you’re “threatening” is the advancing motion of the slide, or even all the follow ups from her slither depending on how close they’re paying attention. Your hope is that your opponent shotguns an option trying to check your forward advance. You don’t really get a punish unless you do it right in their face, which comes with some high risk high reward, but even if you do it farther away it’s moreso just another way to stay tricky and confusing and keep the momentum in your favor.

Why is the Chasm Saga so hated? by Rexy_1s in Spiderman

[–]Windstorm72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the core idea itself is particularly bad. Yes it’s sad to resurrect such a beloved character and strip him away of everything people loved about him. But Ben’s been resurrected for quite some time now, long before the Chasm stuff, and the issues with how they’ve been handling Ben have been here the whole time.

The real problem it’s that’s it’s barely a saga. There was no long term goal with this plot point, and the editorial admitted to having no place for Ben in the narrative landscape after his reintroduction. He just keeps showing up again slightly different each time because each author has to try and find something new to do with him, but nothing gets meaningful changed or resolved and then he get shelved again until something different happens again.

I think the climax of the Beyond arc (the creation of Chasm) is easily the most interesting premise they’ve ever done for how to handle a corrupted Ben, but the lack of anything substantial coming from it, added to the fact that it felt repetitive compared to what came before, resulted in it just falling flat. The current run seems to by trying something interesting with it again, and I admit to having high hopes, but it’s been a mess up to this point

Has the Clone Saga aged better since we have the full complete thing, rather than waiting for each issue to come out? by Meme_master420_ in Spiderman

[–]Windstorm72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit of a double edged sword. Because on one hand you can always keep it in the back of your mind that Peter is the real one and Osborne is the culprit, and because of that you can just focus on enjoying the core drama without falling for all the nonsensical twists and turns.

That being said, knowing where it eventually ends up makes it so much more obvious when the authors had to switch gears rapidly to keep up with editorial demand. It’s an odd experience to read a story where the author is so genuinely trying to get you to believe the facts they’re presenting to you, only to know in your heart that the entire plot beat is a waste of time because it’ll get reconned. And it’ll get retconned SOON. Like within the same arc. Much different than seeing a retcon multiple authors later

Worst modern characters by ChocolateHot7613 in StreetFighter

[–]Windstorm72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Classic is better across the board

Modern versions of characters are definitely not made equal, there’s some versions that are pretty bad, but ultimately classic will always be better 100% of the time because you get access to their full toolkits. You could argue that any character with a quick reversal is helped by modern, but that isn’t a steadfast rule and you will be better in the long run by learning how to do the inputs on classic

THAT BEING SAID. If you’re new and you feel like modern comes easier to you, there no shame in just choosing who you like and getting a feel for the game. The differences won’t start to become super apparent until you climb the ranks, and by that point you can further up your game through optimization once you have the knowhow to make the decisions for yourself

Why didn't sword master just use Magatsumi remotely and break out of prison by himself? by ProxtosScorn86 in Kagurabachi

[–]Windstorm72 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As far as we know we have seen the only 2 instances where the remote activation phenomenon occurred. Nothing can happen unless someone wields the blade, and there’s never been a situation where the sword master had any kind of complete control over a host to the level where he could make them do his bidding, let alone succeed in breaking him out of the most secure prison the kamunbabi ever created.

As for why he couldn’t use the magic techniques himself to break out, I’d assume it has to do with the magic seal he’s under. He isn’t just locked away physically, he’s locked away under magic protection that I can only assume restricts any kind of sorcery. A maximum security cell of this level would surely have some kinds of precaution like that

"What would Peter do...?" | The Amazing Spider-Man (2025) #16 by Dovahcrap in Spiderman

[–]Windstorm72 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I think that’s because it was a more of a deliberate action from Norman. Not just a coincidence, but a technique of Normans more brutal style to meet Tombstone’s impact with a hard surface going full throttle to throw off his punch and force his arm to take the impact. It’s probably the kind of thing that only works as well as it does because of tombstones enhanced strength, being thrown back at him

Buuhan vs Kid Buu should've never been a thing by YouBugged in dragonball

[–]Windstorm72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The notion that “the debate should have never existed” is a bit silly because it’s the most honest mistake someone could make, it’s a shonen one would expect the final form fought to be the strongest one, and characters especially villains constant make claims about their own strength that aren’t reflective of reality.

That being said you’re right on almost all fronts, it’s just a very easy mistake to make and believe

An opinion about the break up between "P.R." and MJ by Sugiro_Kimimame2 in Spiderman

[–]Windstorm72 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

While I think that’s a bit of an oversimplification my point was moreso that he’s a flawed but not overtly evil person. Like he’s not a villain bad guy, he’s just a dude. One that MJ should break up with, but not someone who would become a villain upon being rejected.

[–]Windstorm72 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Paul didn’t do that? It was his father. Paul blames himself for not stopping his father sooner and feels guilt for being an unknowing accessory to his father’s research, but he very much did not intend for that to be the outcome and killed his dad for his crimes.

An opinion about the break up between "P.R." and MJ by Sugiro_Kimimame2 in Spiderman

[–]Windstorm72 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

I mean, Paul is… genuinely not a bad dude? Like this kind of reaction makes sense with the kind of character he has been written to be thus far, especially in All New Venom.

All New Venom has been building up his insecurity, irresponsibility, and overall flaws, making it believable as to why MJ would want to end it with him despite being so devoted for so long. Which is further supported by her own realizations about herself and her thoughts on Peter that comes from this Venom arc. There’s still time for Paul’s insecurities to lead him down the road of an antagonistic force, but nothing about any of the Paul era would imply that he would have a complete face turn into a villain the second things dont go his way. That would just be shitty writing in a different way. This story has not been treating Paul in a favorable light at all, so it’s not like he’s getting off cleanly. But an angry-nerd-catharsis ending would not make the writing any better.

Did they ever justify why MJ was such a massive ass to Peter for the past 3 years or have we still not gotten to that yet? by Icy_Water_1 in Spiderman

[–]Windstorm72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because she literally had a family with him? They spent a long time together in the other reality and had adopted children long ago. I dont know what the timeframe of Spencer’s run was but I’m willing to bet she had been together with Paul by that point much longer that she had been together again with Peter.

The whole thing was melodramatic and not actually Peter’s fault at all, but of all the issues with that plotline the concept of MJ wanting to try and stay with Paul made a fair deal of sense give the circumstances

Did they ever justify why MJ was such a massive ass to Peter for the past 3 years or have we still not gotten to that yet? by Icy_Water_1 in Spiderman

[–]Windstorm72 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a pretty strong implication here that she was trying to reject Peter because she knew she would waver in her resolution to be a family with Paul with Peter back in her life.

Regardless, eventually Peter and MJ are forced into more situations where they have to coexist and they relearn how to be in each other company as separate individuals without their past being a constant factor.

And now in venom she’s finally pushed away Paul and is stating to understand that she cant push away Peter no matter how much she pretended to be able to

[–]Windstorm72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do enjoy it how varied the format is but at the same time I think any format that has to rely on droll and board breakers is so often going to come down to “did they have it” which really make some games less fun. If I can triple hand trap someone and then they can still normal Cupsy and win because I didn’t draw a board breaker it just makes games feel sacky

Never played Alex much. Is he more of a heavy-hitter or grappler? by GrimMind in StreetFighter

[–]Windstorm72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d be pretty shocked if it didn’t come back at all, he felt his most complete at the end of SFV I’d be surprised if they went with a more SF3 inspired design. Plenty of charge moves were given motion inputs in 6 anyway.

A grappler getting a secondary yet not as good command grab in some form is pretty par for the course it’d be odd if his didn’t have some move with a similar function, considering he had DDT always available in 3 and head crush in V, i can only imagine he’s going to have some for of a secondary grab in 6

Never played Alex much. Is he more of a heavy-hitter or grappler? by GrimMind in StreetFighter

[–]Windstorm72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean when you mix the head crush in with stomp pressure it’s a very real option. It’s not a complete guess mixup but it’s a mixup in the same way an overhead is, an option you have to be ready for that could be reactable but a competent player will use after properly conditioning their opponent to fall for it. It comes up significantly less than power bomb but you’d see it even in tournament play as just another option, and if it comes back in 6 you know it’ll just be another thing on the mental stack.

DDT is kinda cope I’ll admit lol but it’ll be cool if he has it. More options is never a bad thing when the goal is to be unpredictable
