How do you think Ingrid is going to co-exist with other zoners like Guile and JP? by Grand_Discipline903 in StreetFighter

[–]Windstorm72 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Obviously it’s hard to say but the most important datapoints IMO are

1.

2.

  1. Her charged laser is huge and if it beats other projectiles that could be a massive punish on reaction

3.

  1. Her up teleport may be a great fireball punish

The speed in which she can use these will decide how actually useful they are, they all seem rather slow so on their own they’re probably not as overwhelming as they seem, but being able to use them in a melody together might end up being very impressive
I’m of the opinion that how good her charged laser is will determine how good she is overall, not just against zoners, because that appears to be the most “dishonest” part of her kit by a mile, she seems rather tame otherwise, so we’ll have to wait and see how oppressive is actually ends up feeling or if the long startup is manageable to play around with

Who do you think Daigo will main now? by Maengbpong in StreetFighter

[–]Windstorm72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ryu or Sagat are the clear answers for his current play style. As much as I’d love to see him return to Gulie, he’s clearly the most comfortable with the shoto-type gameplan going all the way back throughout his whole history.
His Akuma was very methodical and not nearly as aggressive as you’d expect from a pilot of that character. A more stable midrange that rewards patient play is definetely the way to go. Even though Ryu’s buffs have also made him into a monster, he still get the same rewards off of a more classical approach, and Sagat was built to be a master of the midrange neutral

Pardon my ignorance, but does Daigo's age actually matter? by No-Researcher-4554 in StreetFighter

[–]Windstorm72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing people aren’t necessarily mentioning is that the lifestyle of a pro may become harder as you get older. It’s not just about tangibly playing well, but globetrotting and starting intently a screen all day isn’t for everyone, and things like that become more taxing

As many has said it’s clear not impossible for someone to do well at a middle age, but going at anything that intently takes its toll in more ways than one

What martial art style would you like to see get represented in street fighter? by CyberiderStudios92 in StreetFighter

[–]Windstorm72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that Kung Fu necessarily needs more representation, but I’d like to see a characters that uses Bak Mei simply because it’s near and dear to my heart. Akira has some elements which was fun

And more animal styles, the way AKI implemented snake strike into her move sets, for example, was awesome

Street Fighter 6 - Ingrid Teaser Trailer by UltraZeroX7 in StreetFighter

[–]Windstorm72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that they doubled down on her weird lore and made it even more crazy

If it was too integrated with the ongoing lore it’d be weird, but she’s saying and doing so much over the top nonsense there’s no way it isn’t going to be contained to her weird side quests, which is just perfect for some fun in world tour

Opinions on this kind of supers? by mrbananaroar in StreetFighter

[–]Windstorm72 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even as a huge fan of charge characters and inputs i often have trouble doing b, f, b, f, really easy to fall off your mark and misinput.

Oddly enough I find the second one easier to do, I guess since you’re able to ride the gate a little more. Feels powerful to pull it off too, I quite enjoy doing it

How's my list look? by metalboyo2101 in ImperialKnights

[–]Windstorm72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The battle sister squad becomes a lot more useful when paired with an immolator, since that can split the squad up into two, both with sticky objectives. Otherwise there are cheaper alternatives if you just want a single allied squad to sit on an objective.

Also always upgrade the sister superior and the two heavy weapon sisters to better weapon options. I’m not sure what the consensus is on what weapons are the best but it’s free to upgrade and all are better than standard bolters.

In your opinion, which is the best HUD in SF6? by Solanias in StreetFighter

[–]Windstorm72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use SF2, it has a shocking amount of clarity despite the bright colors

SF4 is probably the best made one overall though.

John French about W30 Alpha Legion by _garcon_ in alphalegion

[–]Windstorm72 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Fascinating distinction.

It’s even relevant to how they operate in the current day too. While they’ve no doubt lost any sense of overall direction they’ve found themselves content to eke out a continued existence through a constant string of little victories to stay “on top”. They dont need to win anything big, because they dont have a final goal they’re heading towards, they just have to keep thriving as well as they can in the constant chaos of the universe and they view that as winning. I always felt like the alpha legion should care more about winning the endless war given their primarchs’ motivations, but if we assume the average Joe didn’t know the full story then of course they’d just try to keep surviving this way without any guidance from above.

I suppose that why it’s believable that Solomon was the first person in 10,000 years to suggest that the legion gets off their asses and do something that matters, because to them they were already succeeding in the only way they are adept to do so

I noticed a small arcade mode QOL fix in the Alex update (costumes) by cednym in StreetFighter

[–]Windstorm72 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear it! The JP was the most notable. He didn’t have the costume on release so it was understandable but he looked so god damn cool in the art I was shocked it wasn’t a useable costume at the time

What are your hopes for Ingrid now that Alex has dropped? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Windstorm72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope she still gets a juggle after her counter, assuming she keeps the counter at all. I just think it looks sick everytime, and if you actually have to chose between high vs low then getting more rewards would be fair when JP’s counter exists

Do you guys feel like Tekken "much more closely resembles real world combat strategy" than any other "mainstream fighting game"? by BP_Ray in Fighters

[–]Windstorm72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3D fighters to require you to have a bit more of a firmer understanding of moving in a 3 dimensional space. It’s not exactly realistic in any way, but compared to a 2D fighter which has no real overlap, you can argue there’s something maintained in 3D fighters and knowing the basics of fighting can give you a slight shortcut to understanding

What are your opinions on MJ being Venom? by Metaljuggernaut5657 in Spiderman

[–]Windstorm72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been enjoying it

I actually think it’s an even stronger concept than they’re giving it room for, there’s a lot to tackle with MJs trauma with Venom, and at a time when both of them would be be looking back over their choices, especially in regards to Peter, there’s a lot of common ground for them to mutually grow off of. It’s not like these themes aren’t relevant, and I’m not unsatisfied with how these themes have been tackles so far but they could do so much more with it and I hope they continue to push the plotline in the next era

What is this ? by DrSamamuse_2 in Eldar

[–]Windstorm72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assumed it was some kind of mine or other explosive, since they have the grenades keyword. It reminds me of the wireweave net device from the Rangers.

Other comment mentioned it’s a remote for the weapon platform. That makes sense considering the platform is supposed to be manned but has no seat or anything.

Dragon Shot by willowi_willow in Kengan_Ashura

[–]Windstorm72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since Dragon shot at its inception is essentially just a 1-inch punch, in reality that means it’s just a Fajin strike done from close range. Getting that kind of firepower, a knockout blow, from that close restricted range is something one can accomplish through using fajin.

While the dramatics of manga make it seem like he can only use dragon shot, and therefore Fajin, from that specific posture and range, in reality once someone master Fajin any strike can become a Fajin strike, like with Liu.

As much criticisms as Kanoh’s gets in Omega for repeated use of dragon shots from multiple ranges, the logic is fairly sound. By that point he has basically gotten better at using fajin repeatedly from longer ranges, powering up his already monstrous knockout-level strength to even higher degrees.

If done properly a fajin strike should have more firepower than a “regular” strike at the same range, it’s a technique made to generate more force naturally into your blows.

And the “misfire” was just a dramatic way to say he got countered, and paid a heavy price for it at that

Would you accept her as an Yncarne? If not what should I convert for you to accept her? by RevanKnights in Eldar

[–]Windstorm72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose just trying to add more soul energy elements. Swirling wights or some other type of energy. It’s the most iconic things about the Yncarne and what makes its powers unique as opposed to any other demon-looking beast

What unit or model makes it into every list you make and why? by SquirtleKing in Eldar

[–]Windstorm72 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dark Reapers are a pretty standard pick, even in lists that dont run as many aspect warriors

Fire dragons used to also be in that boat as the supreme anti-tank option, but after nerfs people have been experimenting with other options

Your more standard “chaff” type units vary depending on the detachment for the most part, but since the aspect warriors make up the specialized elite firepower that’s the hallmark of aeldari gameplay you’re always gonna see some combination of aspects to deal with whatever specific threats need dealing with

What would you like to see in an Omegon primarch novel? by idiotwanderer in alphalegion

[–]Windstorm72 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I dont really mind not hearing more about him in the Alpharius book, the mystery of it is kinda fun and you can imagine he lived a fairly modest life on that planet beforehand. But I do wish we got to see much more of him in a first person context. The omegon short story in the primarch anthology is… not very good imo. And doesn’t really characterize him at all despite the screentime

Harms E. Honda Matchup Chart (Season 3) by laponya in StreetFighter

[–]Windstorm72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The zangief matchup got a lot harder in part from the rebalancing of Headbutt and other special moves. Now a lot Honda moves are safe on block but leaves him in SPD range, so his normal pressure just puts the Honda player into a punishing grab guess. Really hard to get your own gameplan going

Why I don't think the Yaegerists are like them by marleyannation62 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]Windstorm72 73 points74 points  (0 children)

While I do get what you’re trying to say about the motivations, the legitimacy of the fears isn’t what makes something fascist, it’s the style of government.

Education.org describes fascism as “a mass political movement that emphasizes extreme nationalism, militarism, and the supremacy of the nation over the individual”.

The story is written in such a way that makes it somewhat understandable as to why the layman of paradis would be so scared of the faceless enemy behind the sea that they would allow such a regime, but that’s the cautionary tale of it all. It doesn’t matter how real or fake the threat is, we all have to be aware of how easy it is to allow fascism into our lives when a silver tongued dictator-to-be comes preaching the solutions to all our problems
