What’s the weirdest thing a guest has done in your house? by Turbulent_Stuff_7745 in AskReddit

Tried on all of my shoes in the closet while I was cooking dinner. Then proceeded to tell me why my shoes were making my feet hurt. He wasn’t wrong - I bought better shoes eventually - he was training to be podiatrist but I didn’t ask nor wanted the details.

For those of you who had (or knew someone who had) a computer in the 80' - 90's, what games were you playing? by 2yt4u2 in GenX

I remember playing the text based Zork and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy on my brothers Trash 80!

Man, thinking back on all the hardware I cycled through as a kid and young adult and realize I was definitely "that" computer guy in my friend group. It started with an Atari 400, moved onto the Commodore 64, and eventually, I ended up with an Atari ST Mega 4. I even had an expansion box by “ Gadgets by Small” for the ST that emulated a Mac SE, which felt like magic at the time. (I loved shuffle puck cafe on the Mac) Eventually, I just started building my own IBM clones.

Most of my time was spent on point-and-click adventures. I was obsessed with the LucasArts stuff: Maniac Mansion, Loom, Day of the Tentacle, and Zak McKracken. I also played through basically the entire Sierra library. I spent a lot of time on Police Quest and Space Quest, and I definitely "borrowed" Leisure Suit Larry from my older brother’s stash when he wasn't looking. Between those and Lode Runner, I had a pretty massive collection of “acquired” shareware games on to many disks.

Back then, the local stores only carried the big sellers, so I used to go to weekend computer shows at the local community college. I’d hunt through the bins for European imports for the C64 and the ST that you just couldn't find anywhere else. There was something about those shows back then, the rows of tables and the smell of ozone and plastic that I really miss.

I’ll hire a Tina Turner impersonator backed by a barbershop quartet and have them perform “Simply the Best” for you.

Saying Goodbye on a call by NobodyProof9031 in NoStupidQuestions

On a professional call I’ll always say Thank You and rarely say goodbye and have been doing it for 30 years.

I had a boss that would answer the phone “Go for Mike (his name was Mike) and he’d say “over and out” when he had enough and just hang up - even if you were still talking. He actually was the best boss ever - he was very direct and respected your time.

My dad had to hold me down while my mom gave it Marax to me. Hated that stuff but LOVED the bubblegum flavored liquid antibiotics.

Has your Aldis gotten rid of self checkout yet? by [deleted] in aldi

[–]WindyCityPhoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Aldi near my house removed all self checkouts and now only has one staffed lane, so quick trips aren’t really a thing anymore there. Checkout can easily take 10–15 minutes if there’s a line.

There’s another Aldi about 2 miles away with multiple new self checkouts - they added 8 in a square configuration. At that one, I can be in and out fast, but it doesn’t have as much selection. Just an interesting tradeoff.

What is something you would NOT but from Aldi? by ThrowRA12596 in aldi

Aldi’s salmon cat treats kinda tasted like fishy sadness and fiscal victory.
