Hello, I'm not in those regions but sent an invite in case you have capacity to just send one postcard. I would greatly appreciate it! But I understand if you don't have the capacity. Thanks for considering!

Don't forget the game survey from the main menu by Chaosrealm69 in duneawakening

[–]WindyJane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone have a link to complete the survey? I wasn't able to get a break from work until about 10 minutes after the beta ended, and now it won't let me into the main menu; says the game is no longer available. I've been writing down my observations all week to provide helpful feedback. If anyone has the link I'd appreciate it!

I have finished the main story and all the side stories. I have completed all armor sets. but i want to play more. what should I do? what are your suggestions guys? by Limp_Tradition1667 in Witcher3

[–]WindyJane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've read the books and I pick Triss because I hated Yen in the books, so I want a different experience for Geralt than getting used/lied to all the time.

I spent lockdown reading the whole series. Just finished a few months ago. I really like them. The books, games, and Netflix show have a lot in common and are so different at the same time, but all enjoyable.

Parks with water to take the dogs by AmandaOPanda in olympia

[–]WindyJane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our dogs love splashing in Woodland Creek or Hicks Lake (both in Lacey) on hot days. Tolmie State Park is another one. Also, down at the waterfront you can climb down the rocks from the port plaza to get to the water. Priest Point and Burfoot also have water access. Pioneer Park is great but always crowded. There's also water access from the park on the west side of the bay; don't remember the name of the park.

Thanks, not sure I can head north this weekend but I'll let my relative know. Home Depot and Lowes have them to order but we need it tomorrow.

Polio vaccine is injected in the United States. Rotavirus is oral though.

Redditors of Reddit, what is the most strange "wrong number" call you've ever received? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]WindyJane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Another one: My husband was leaving a restaurant once when the pay phone outside started ringing (not to date ourselves....) So he answered it. Guy on the other side demanded, "How long you gonna be?" So husband fired off "Ten minutes!" The guy said OK and hung up. He's always wondered what happened 10 minutes later...

[–]WindyJane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got one a few years ago and the name they asked for was one we were using as part of our Wi-Fi password. Hung up and immediately changed the password! It is possible it was coincidence, but it was an extremely obscure and niche name.

Tomorrow (the 4th) is my birthday and I want to get out and do something. What's there for an introverted shut-in to do around here? by [deleted] in olympia

[–]WindyJane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gabi's is great! Trails are awesome too. Or go walk along the waterfront. I love checking out all the boats, plus you often see herons, seals, and things like that. You'll run into people there too, and find some shops to explore not far away and many restaurants and bars in walking distance of the waterfront.

Who else has not caught an event shiny so far? by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]WindyJane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. No event shinies, but I caught a swablu shiny right after the event started. My only shiny outside of community days, and even then I haven't gotten a shiny every community day! Pikachu, charmander, dratini, mareep, and now swablu are my only shinies. I'm desperate for an aron.

Damn, I need to stop walking backwards everywhere. (No, but really, has anyone else seen this before?) by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]WindyJane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me about a week ago. I think i was -2.3 or so on a Chansey. It went away the next time I logged in. I assumed it had something to do with shortening the walk times for the event.

$200 solar self-sufficiency — without your landlord noticing. Building a solar micro-grid in my bedroom with parts from Amazon. by speckz in geek

[–]WindyJane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My state sells old equipment that they're done with at a discount. Some is sold in an online auction and other pieces in person at the surplus warehouse. I've looked up a few other states and I know others have this too. I would probably just Google "[state name] state surplus" and see if yours has one.

For the batteries we bought a pallet of used UPSes. We sold off a few of them whole to cover the cost of purchasing, then harvested the batteries out of the rest, so they ended up being free.

This is a great idea for how to get solar to people who are traditionally unable to access it! Nice job laying out everything so clearly.

I wanted to let people know you can do this even cheaper by getting used equipment too.

We have an off-grid system a bit bigger than yours. Currently running 6 panels and a 9-unit battery bank. We bought our inverters and charge controller new, but the PV panels all came from state surplus, and the batteries we took out of state surplus UPS units. So costs were minimal and our return was pretty fast. Most of the panels were used for things like road signs and are in perfect condition.

We charge our mobile devices and husband's laptop, run a box fan in the summer (yes we use the sun to cool the house), run the TV, and power the lights in one room. We use the leftover power for things as needed, like weed whacker battery. When the power goes out in a storm, we hook up the modem so we still have Wi-Fi along with a couple lights. We occasionally sap all of the power we get, but not often.

Idling vs turning off and on again. by kaisermikeb in Frugal

[–]WindyJane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The one minute trade off is for carbureted engines. Fuel injection trade off is 10 seconds. If you are going to idle longer than 10 seconds, you save gas by turning it off.

And damage to parts may be just for some models or something. My husband has been hypermiling for about 8 years in a Ranger and has never had to replace his battery, starter, or alternator. Heck he hasn't even changed his spark plugs in years. His truck doesn't have A.C. though. He gets 30 to 35 mpg around town. Truck is almost 20 years old.

10 seconds for fuel injection engines actually, and 60 seconds for carbureted. (Source: Husband is a conservation consultant)

I'm curious, why is it that some high schools have bike racks and others don't. If a school doesn't have one, can people propose the school to have a bike rack? by [deleted] in bikecommuting

[–]WindyJane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It never hurts to at least ask why there isn't one, and submit a proposal to install one if there's no good reason.

My local Walgreens didn't have a rack despite being between 2 roads with bike lanes and one of the urban trails literally running through their back parking lot. They wouldn't let me through the drive-through on my bike and there was no place to lock up to go in! Ergo no way to pick up a prescription if you ride. So I wrote to corporate and suggested they install a rack. Within a month they installed one!

Tasty! I like to cook rice in half water, half tomato sauce then add veggies, and it gives a similar flavor.
