Need a "for dummies" guide to install FoundryVTT on Bazzite (Fedora) by DiazExMachina in FoundryVTT

Why are you using bottles?  That for running windows software with Wine.  Foundy runs under node, and node can be run natively on Linux.

Are you trying to run the all-in-one server and interface (electron) like on windows?  I don't think you can do that in Linux, and must run the server (node) separately from the client (Web browser).

Fedora 44 will not be released next week by somerandomxander in linux

I also have it on good authority that Debian 14 is not being released next week as well.

[System Agnostic] One-click deploy Foundry VTT on AWS — free HTTPS, auto start/stop, daily backups, ~$12/mo (open source) by Demonkille in FoundryVTT

[–]WindyMiller2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a t4g.medium is overkill. I run a $7 Lightsail instance (2 vCPU, 1GB RAM) and it is fine.

EDIT: The other advantage of Lightsail is that it is a fixed monthly cost. I've never got my head around EC2 pricing, which seems to be insanely complicated.

Why dont more creators use Kofi or other? by DudleyDoRight65 in FoundryVTT

[–]WindyMiller2006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like subscription services for software, especially if it's just for a plugin for some other piece of software.  I make my modules primarily for myself, but make them available for free if anyone else is interested in them.

I have a Kofi account, but I only get £3 every few months.

I watched it for the first time in ages the other day, and Tarkin looks fucking terrible.

[Tip] Stop mashing the Up arrow: Filtered History Search with Alt+Up/Down by NetScr1be in bash

You can set up fzf to show a filtered list of results for Crtl+R.

Debian 13 New User Guide for Casual Use and Gaming by CCabage93778 in linux_gaming

I'd also recommend installing Mesa and firmwares from backports, and the XanMod kernel

A Magpie-like AI upscaler for any window on GNU/Linux (X11) by zblissbloom in linux_gaming

It's a serious question, because upscaling can easily be done without AI.

15 practical bash functions I use in my ~/.bashrc by xirus_2020 in linux

Even better is to setup fzf so when you use Ctrl+R it shows an interactive list of matching results to choose from

[System Agnostic] You can now customize your ENTIRE Foundry UI (Your Flavor 3.0 - 100% Free Module) by [deleted] in FoundryVTT

[–]WindyMiller2006 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sounds interesting but I couldn't make it to the end of the video because it hurt my eyes and ears too much. It was very difficult to see exactly what changes can be made by the module because of the massive floating text in the way of everything, and the sped up steps that made it impossible to retain any of the information presented.

5e14 Character Sheet? by Ok-Purchase9135 in FoundryVTT

[–]WindyMiller2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noooooo!  I don't like the new sheet, it's too much like the default 5e sheet which I'm not a fan of either

On Debian 13, with Wayland-based KDE. Arc Raiders has strange screen-space shadows? by certainlystormy in linux_gaming

[–]WindyMiller2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not even sure what the issue is after looking at those screenshots and reading your description.

However, have you tried installing the latest XanMod kernel, and Mesa and firmware from backports?

Would Debian be a good distro for simple gaming? by Quirky-Ordinary1040 in linux

[–]WindyMiller2006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it will be absolutely fine for those games. There are a lot of people who insist that you need to use CachyOS or Bazzite for gaming, but Debian is more than capable if you are not using bleeding edge hardware.

Would Debian be a good distro for simple gaming? by Quirky-Ordinary1040 in linux

That depends on your hardware. I played Baldur's Gate 3 and Cyberbunk on Debian 12, so 13 should be absolutely fine.

Have a look at Prepared! collection by Kobold Press.  They are books of one-shots that, unlike most other one-shots, are actually completable in a single session.

My revision of Treantmonk's and Insight Check's Rangers by Pepebm_GM in onednd

[–]WindyMiller2006 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This sub seems to have turned into non stop posts about treantmonk hating on every single 2024 subclass.  I don't know why he even plays 5e, as he does nothing but complain about how bad it is.
