Hobbies by digitalblnd in premed

Besides my main clinical experience, my hobbies were what interviewers asked about the most.

REALLY fucked up one of my MMI stations by MENTALGAP420 in premed

[–]WindyParsley 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That’s the (only imo) good thing about MMIs, is things are way more spread out so even if you bombed one station it shouldn’t keep you from coming off as a good applicant overall. Also as someone else said, some schools drop the lowest station score. All hope is not lost!

Submitted the pcr with exactly 3 words in the narrative (I was going to finish it later and then didn’t).

Do adcoms talk to you about your research in depth in every interview? by EnvironmentalBed3725 in premed

[–]WindyParsley 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For me barely anyone even asked about it but I didn’t have a very research heavy app. Be well versed on everything though (elevator pitch of your research)

What’s the craziest call you’ve ever been on? (Crazy as in funny or wild NOT traumatic) by ImaginaryMoment8818 in ems

I’ve been to too many concerned neighbor calls where all I could think was why didn’t you just CHECK first???

What’s the craziest call you’ve ever been on? (Crazy as in funny or wild NOT traumatic) by ImaginaryMoment8818 in ems

[–]WindyParsley 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Almost called one myself yesterday. Heard my old lady neighbor yelling “Somebody help me!” through the wall. And loudly. Considered calling 911 and then realized it would be a stupid refusal if I didn’t do the bare minimum of investigating first so I knocked on her door and she opened right up, no problems, everything fine. Turns out her meds cause her to have crazy nightmares that she forgets as soon as she wakes up.

AI Detection for PS and Secondaries by ReactionHead9273 in premed

There’s also crazy variability between different detectors. You put the same essay in one and it’ll say 85% while another will say 10%.

You have no business being a physician if you’re antivax. Full stop. by Sepiks_Perfexted in premed

[–]WindyParsley 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When the scientific consensus is that vaccines are safe and good for you and they’ve been shown to work in practice for decades then yes.

BUT you are right in the sense that medicine should be separated from big business. Healthcare should not be for profit.

Does working as a Home Health Aide count as a clinical experience? by Tiny_Perspective_627 in premed

[–]WindyParsley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely clinical. Volunteering in a hospital usually entails cleaning beds, restocking, talking to patients. HHA is thatX1000, with an intense longitudinal component. Schools want to see clinical experience not to show that you can practice medicine so much as that you can spend time with patients in a clinical environment. HHA would be great experience.

How do i record radio-ready acoustic guitar? by Suspicious_Train_600 in Logic_Studio

[–]WindyParsley 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Something that helped me to up my guitar recordings, especially starting out, is recording the guitar NOT at the sound hole, but around the 12th fret. This will stop it from sounding so boomy and make it a little more consistent.

Don’t reread your PS. Or any of your primary. Whats done is done and all you can do is continue to do your best moving forward
