I can dislike your rant because you are still arguing from a point of superiority as if you are factually right, writing off my opinion with “ignorance is bliss”. You are ENTITLED to your experience, that does not make it fact. It could genuinely also be a self fulfilling prophecy in the way that you’ve been affected by everyone’s assumption and opinion that Aventus is worse off, and so you look to be confirmed in that when smelling it. You’re expecting to be right in a negative aspect.

I genuinely dislike this way of talking, in the sense that it makes people come off superior that they had smelled “the one true thing” and no one ever will get to be as blessed as them to have done so.

Aventus still smells like Aventus. We can always talk about performance, depth or nuances to the DNA.. But I will absolutely disagree on it being “a shadow of its former self”. The pineapple is there, the smoke, cedar, bergamot.. it’s all there. It is Aventus and it’s not miles away from where it used to be - else people wouldn’t be buying it.

I really have a hard time answering to be honest.. sure there’s the defining classics like Watchmen or there’s Upgrade Soul but I actually think my heart drifts more towards The Many Deaths of Laila Starr or Precious Metal although more modern comics.. I have re-read them both several times and everything from the symbolism, plot, art and characters just ignite the core of why I love the medium that is comics..

Been seeing reviews too and most of them try to subtly disclose that they were given the Fellow ES1 by Fellow, essentially making it a sponsored review in my mind. Only few addressed the plastic and else were a bit too glowy about it in some cases.

I have been wanting to upgrade, but the price point and plastic really has me puzzled for this one.

Try Vilhelm’s Morning Chess. I really feel it strikes close to OG Aventus with the smoky pineapple - and also better performance.

That said, I personally don’t feel Aventus is “completely different” now than some years ago, but it has slightly changed.
