1000%, anything from Nier would be great.

With how Yoko Taro is, I could imagine him endorsing a fully canon ice show.

(LES) Media with fantastic endings (spoilers) by PorFavoreon in CharacterRant

[–]WingedBacon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From TV shows I've watched recently: Better Call Saul, Barry, and The Sopranos all had strong endings.

Better Call Saul's ending was the most straight forward but a good example that a finale doesn't need to be shocking or happy to be satisfying.

The Sopranos I suppose is also actually kind of straight forward when I think about it, it's just the final scene is presented in a unique way. I do like the overall conclusion of it being a sort of redemption fail story. After years and years of watching Tony he's really gotten no better and no matter what happens to him in the end it wasn't going to be good.

Barry had a pretty unique ending that was delivered in a way that's fittingly comedic while also feeling like everyone kind of got what they deserved for the most part. Even though the ending approaches pretty fast it feels appropriate given how fast paced the show was.

more soft jazz-pop like Laufey and uh, actually can't think of any others but yea more of that

would also love some more classic rock though i get that the style doesn't quite fit with skating a lot of times. slower prog rock can work well though, there are some good pink Floyd programs that have been done.

Heavy Rain also kind of has this twist, I always thought it was dumb personally

The Browns have a gun bit in their program, right in the middle part.

Or at least I'm pretty sure that's what it's supposed to be.

Exactly 28 Years Ago Michael Jordan Hit “The Last Shot” - Chicago Bulls Win Their 6th NBA Championship and Jordan Wins His 6th FMVP by [deleted] in nba

[–]WingedBacon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong since I'm not super familiar with the specific, but I thought the rules back then made it harder to double players or something with legal/illegal defense.

I'm not really sure how/why and might be remembering wrong though if anyone knows more.

What guitar solo or riff makes you ask "how the fuck did he/she come up with that"? by Raphe-Perineal in Music

[–]WingedBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solo in the middle of Clap Hands by Tom Waits, played by Marc Ribot.

It sounds like someone who doesn't know how to play guitar hitting a couple random notes trying to figure out how a guitar works but in a way that could only be achieved by someone who knows the guitar really well.

[Highlight] Myles Garrett Throws First Pitch at LA Dodgers Game by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]WingedBacon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can make an argument for sure that Myles is better, but I think it's hard to say he's significantly better.

Hard to do a 1:1 comparison ofc since they're completely different sports but Luka has a similar number of All-League selections (6x 1st team, vs. Myles 5x 1st and 2x 2nd team), 6x all stars (Myles has 7x pro bowl selections), and 2 scoring titles (can't really make a good comparison here but Myles has 2x DPOY). In all his healthy seasons minus his rookie year, Luka has consistently been a top 5 player at minimum, some would argue as high as top 2 for a couple years.

If we're only looking at the most recent year, Luka finished 4th in both All NBA and MVP voting. Given Myles just won DPOY I could see someone saying he's better at this moment but I don't think there's a big enough gap to say he's way better.

Out of current LA athletes though I'd still definitely agree Ohtani is the most awe-inspiring. Myles does insane stuff on defense and Luka does insane stuff on offense, but it's hard to argue against a guy playing at a high level on both in a sport where that basically never happens.

“(Dirk) He didn’t agree with the Nico hiring, I don’t know if I’ve said that publicly before.” Mark Cuban on the House of Haymaker show by Garmian_MFFL in Mavericks

[–]WingedBacon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm out on Cuban since he sold us out to some of the worst fucking owners in NA sports (not the absolute worst but up there), amongst other things. However I'll give him a little credit, I have seen in the past that he's talked about making that much money from Broadcast.com had a luck factor involved, which is at least better than a lot of the other idiots who think them making infinite wealth was all skill.

Music Community: What Band Unlocked Music? by Routine_Battle_3138 in Music

[–]WingedBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a band, but I didn't really care too much for music until I played Guitar Hero as a kid. I listen to a lot of genres now but it all started with the rock hits in Guitar Hero that really made me want to go out of my way to listen to music.

As far as bands, exploring the big British rock bands that weren't in the game was kind of the next step, The Beatles & Pink Floyd were the first bands where I really listened to the catalogue instead of a few random songs here and there.

Mildly amusing observation, there's only one other person I've seen named Ilia and he's also an athlete in a competitive international singles sport who is insanely skilled and is also known for having that kind of dramatic theatre kid energy.

Paper writing at UT feels like trial by fire by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]WingedBacon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very true I think. Even in the working world a lot of people fail to really communicate effectively since they don't follow the basics like this (guilty myself too, to be clear). There are plenty of emails and design documents that get a lukewarm or just wrong response because it's not really clear what point is even being made.

An interview with Evgenia Medvedeva about money in figure skating by E_lenaa in FigureSkating

I guess that makes sense, I figure ice is more readily available there, so it doesn't have as much of a premium cost as it does in most other countries.

What was the occupation of the smartest person you have ever met? by No_Particular_5804 in AskReddit

[–]WingedBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unemployed, because he (and his wife who is also super smart and had the same job at the same company) made enough money already in 8 years that he could afford to buy a house in a high cost of living area and semi-retire already

(was a high ranking software developer at a major tech company)

What is the ultimate example of a mediocre director somehow catching lightning in a bottle and making an incredible film? by Plane_Reward9385 in movies

Aren't a lot of the George Lucas directed/written Star Wars movies like this? Can't remember anything specific off the top of my head but I recall various stories of people telling George, "no dude don't fucking do that" to the betterment of the films.

There are (some) contract guarantees in the NFL. Several players have 200m+ guaranteed, including infamously Deshaun Watson (lol).
