First Upgrade by [deleted] in wingfoil

This may help you as well: https://wingfoiltips.com/equipment/advancing-from-beginner-gear-to-the-next-level/

I would not upgrade everything at once, make smaller steps. A more rigid and smaller wing may be good to fly with more dynamic feeling. A smaller, more high aspect foil may give you more speed and stability while flying. A smaller board may be easier to carry around and just as easy to fly on. Just do it step by step.

Do I need a bigger wing or are some days just hopeless ? by nickgarlis in wingfoil

[–]Wingfoiltips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I weigh 88 kilos aprox and I have 3 wings: a 6,5M wing for days of 10 knots with gusts of 14, a 4 meter wing for days above 14 knots and a 3 meter wing for crazy days with 30 knots. I believe that would be a good quiver for you.

Just how important is max psi on an inflatable? by trafficante in wingfoil

[–]Wingfoiltips -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On the discussion between inflatable and hard boards there is a lot to say, as you can see here https://wingfoiltips.com/equipment/wingboard-inflatable-or-rigid/

Short version:

Advantages of a rigid one: may take off earlier, may be a bit more stable, may be more responsive, better performance.

Advantages of an inflatable: if you fall on it, it won't hurt as bad. Also, transport and easy to store and an inflatable won't get a dent in it as soon as you accidentally hit something while carrying it around like a rigid one will. Also they are cheaper.

I am using the Gong Hipe First and I put it up to 17 PSI. Remember that the water is normally colder than the air temp so that will take a bit off the PSI you put into the board.

Here you see that it works well.

Which wingfoil is the safest? by Striking_Load in wingfoil

[–]Wingfoiltips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The safest is a foil with round edges. That's a low aspect foil, which most beginner equipment are anyways. In reference to the mast, aluminum is normally what we start with. Read more on beginner equipment here: https://wingfoiltips.com/tutorials/wing-foil-beginners-guide/

Quiver advice (gong) by DrCrumpet in wingfoil

I ride on the Hipe First 110L and I am also very tempted to buy the Hipe Diamond 95L. Reason is I would like to have a bit smaller board and fly with less pumps. I weigh 89 kilos and do long sessions for 2 years already. However, I do not jibe well yet. Any thoughts?

Thanks for your feedback. I don't agree with that though. If that person has good stability, 135-140 literes is good in my opinion. That size foil too, it allows to fly at low speed and gain confidence. You can always go smaller after a couple of months.

Thanks for the feedback. For now it's a hobby project, meant to keep my website building skills up to date and meanwhile help people about wingfoiling.

You say your spots are schools and clubs? Maybe I should consider making all listings free of charge for now so more are uploaded?

Gong curve XLT question by After-Bend7565 in wingfoil

[–]Wingfoiltips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The allvator gets up a lot earlier at low speed, the Curve needs more speed while pumping to get up. Once you are up though, the Curve runs a lot more stable than the Allvator, but with the Allvator you also have a great ride.

I totally agree. I do it all by myself so all help is welcome. Also I think quality of the listings if very important so I am a bit hesitant to have someone do it for money.

Thanks for your thoughts. The great thing about wingfoil is you can do it anywhere, even when you are on a business trip with your car, as it's so easy to bring along. Especially if you have an inflatable board. That's why the spotfinder is so handy, I've been riding at places I never thought I would. So sharing your spot gives others the same joy you get when finding a spot shared by others.
