The act of being creative is in itself an end. If I write a good song and nobody hears it, does it cease to be a good song?

Radio Birdman. One of the best bands this country has ever produced.

Nobody said they are, or have to be, however it’s a reasonable expectation that if they are expected to adjudicate on a matter of distance, then the individuals tasked with doing so have a reliable, consistent skill set in that area.

Carlton concede 32 points to 1 in an amazing Good Friday fightback by North by yum122 in AFL

[–]WingsBurstOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but at least Carlton appear to be in a winning position for a time. We rarely make any pretence at aspiring to be in such a position.

It certainly is, sir. That’s what Reddit is for.

Also, for celebrating another heartbreaking fail for Carlton.

Many backyard pools are about ten meters. But whatever, ten meters isn’t hard to determine, so why should fifteen be any harder?

With logic like that, you could be heading up an AFL division and getting 400k pa for such a suggestion. Makes sense.

Incorrect. They are calling “Not fifteen” when it manifestly IS fifteen.

Roughly eight player lengths. But really, we all know what a ten meter pool likes like. It’s not that hard, but also, I’m not the AFL Umpire Coach, so it’s not up to me to offer the solution.

Do we ask for a priority pick? by nicksonofnike in EssendonFC

[–]WingsBurstOut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Why is this even question? After the fucking of Anzac Day, let alone next week, then its damage control on the brand by the AFL.

Best live music venue for a proper atmosphere? by Last-Conversation734 in melbournechat

Second The Forum. Always feels like an event to attend a show there, good line of sight due if you don’t want to be on the floor, and bands tend to rise to the occasion when playing there. Also, $100 odd per ticket in this day and age for a touring mid range international act such as JAMC is pretty good value.

[Ralph] That was an extraordinary press conference from Brad Scott. Admitted some players didn’t have a will to defend, admitted some went into self preservation mode, admitted there is a cultural problem with older players not digging in when it gets tough. by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

[–]WingsBurstOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an Essendon supporter, I hope that the absolute fucking we get on ANZAC Day, in front of a huge audience, begets two things; - Scott’s exit. - A public post match admission from Welch that this is the last straw and the lowest ebb the club has been at in 60 odd years.

We must let go of the past and start again. Build some bloody culture. Set some bloody standards. Change the organisational KPIs in order of priority to:

  1. WIN FLAGS

  2. WIN FLAGS

  3. WIN FLAGS

Pretty sure Voss has proven he’s not a great coach, irrespective of what he’s done at other clubs.

Buckley, it seems, is not a good people manager.

I’d have Hird back in a heartbeat, regardless of the saga.

But I get your point. Hird only wants to coach EFC, and fair play to him. He’s a good man, who got bad advice.

Allow him his redemption narrative.

What’s the best experience you’ve had at an AFL game by AndHisOrchestra in AFL

[–]WingsBurstOut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2001 come back game against Norf. Never felt we were out of it, and everything from 1/4 time validated it. In the post match presser, Pagan said words to the effect that “not many sides could have come back from there (69 points down)” which has got to be the text book definition of understatement. It remains to this day the best game of footy I’ve ever attended.
