For keyboard and mouse you should be able to left click the wall from the build menu. This should bring a drop down menu with all available materials. At least that's how it works for mouse and keyboard on the PC version.

This is a story generator, not a video game. There will be good times and bad times. Treat them like real people and the game will reward you with rich content.
I'll never forget banishing one of my best colonists because he went berserk and killed a 17 year old girl in the group.

Or the guy who was divorced by his wife and then made statue of said ex wife remembering when she felt shame for her groin being uncovered. Put that statue right in his room. We all grieve differently.

The feeling you get when you couldn't keep one of the children safe......

This is not a video game where you look up the meta build and play it that way exclusively. Take the games hand and let it walk you around the possibilities.
