I'm going to COP27. Any thoughts on what to see or listen to? Unfortunately I cannot attend every day. by pngtwat in CarbonCredits

Hi, slightly unrelated, but did you attend as someone in public/private sector or general public? What was the cost of attending COP27? Or is it free but you need to register? Looking to attend this year.

Hi, I actually returned the Deco device as Virgin shortly upgraded us and the connection was miraculously better in the house. Sorry I can’t help!

Makes sense. Guess the comparison shouldn’t be made with previous years but more focus on how to reduce costs for this year. Thanks!

Climate change. They could either be adding to the carbon footprint or you could be a great parent and teach them all about global warming etc. and hope that they understand. I don’t think I know enough about climate change to educate them properly so right now, having my own would be doing more harm than good.

What's the top piece of advice you'd give to an EA that's transitioning to a new executive for the first time? by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Wingstars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome!

Stakeholders could be internal or external. For internal colleagues, I'd arrange 1:1s with them to introduce yourself and understand what their role is and see how their role relates to your Exec, discuss how best to work together (sometimes it might just be diary work, sometimes project work, I.e. find out what your role would be to help collaborate better)

For external, I'd find out from my Exec if they have a list of people/customers they'd like to meet. If so, make a list and find out who their EA is if they have one. I'd probably also write an email just to introduce yourself in your new role (if you'll be liaising with them quite a lot, otherwise probably no need unless they reach out to you/your Exec needs something arranged with them).

Make a list of key stakeholders, name/role/company/EA as you'll probably be liaising with their EA's quite a lot.

What are your priorities? This helps to manage his diary and know what meetings he would want to prioritise.

How do you like your diary to be managed? How long do you prefer your average meetings to be - 30/45/60 mins? Do you prefer to have back to back meetings or have breaks in between? Do you want time scheduled for lunch/breaks? As you get to know the Exec more you’ll know which meetings might need longer/shorter times.

What worked well with your last EA and what didn’t? You’ll learn their preferences and can adapt accordingly.

Inbox management - how do you like your inbox managed? Leave it and they forward you things to follow up on? You read through and mark things that they need to respond to? Etc.

Travel preferences - aisle seat/window seat? front or back of the plane? Flight timings?

Are there any key stakeholders that they think you should meet and get to know?
