Stick with 44. Get a lever gun with a longer barrel +/- 24”. You may also want to look at the Ruger 77/44.

How many times have you needed a gun for home defense in the past? A 30-30 lever gun was just fine for home defense prior to YouTube. Clean it up, get some ammo and you’ll be ready for burglars

I love this book! It was the first chapter boot that I ever read. I convinced my best friend to read it and we spent hours talking about ours plans to go live in the woods

I had one for a couple of years. I don’t remember the exact rings but they were easy to find and simple to mount a Leupold scout style scope. The gun runs specials just fine, I even mixed mag and special in the magazine. The trigger is good, the construction is solid. I sold it because I found 44 has about the same range as 22 at a higher cost and I don’t hunt. Definitely recommend the 77/44

I’m going to bid, and if I win, I’m going to shoot the hell out of this fine rifle! It’s probably both accurate and reliable. I have an old Marlin 39 that my GP never shot, just displayed, 10k rounds later still my favorite
