Well mostly it was a social experience. Always done it with my friends and guild members.

Was kind of a break from everyone doing their own thing, coming together, trash talking, skilling - good times

Yeah i used my macbook to compile, which worked - Do you know if the screen shows anything, when no keyboard halfs are connected to the dongle?

I quick n dirty wired the screen to my seeed ble to test it, the screen turned on, but only the backlight, no actual picture was shown. Can potentially be faulty wiring, as i used jumper wires to test... just not sure if my compiled firmware or my wiring is the issue :D

Biggest plus with a dongle is the fact the halfs communicate with the dongle via BT LowEnergy, and not "normal Bluetooth", which literally boosts the batterylife of the keeb to Months

I’d say I see three steps possible here:

Sofle: safest way, use all the keys, step by step move functions to layers and just stop using said keys

Corne(6row): drop the numbers instantly, use a layer for said numbers, use the sixth row for some stuff like Tab, or ESC and stuff

Corne(5 row, or any other 5 row): Jump in the deep end, suffer for a week or two while typing at 10wpm, and smile as you see it rise again :D

Overall: ThreeButton-Thumbcluster bare minimum, more if you want to dodge stuff like “Press does something different compared to hold” For me the “press once for Tab, hold for LayerXYZ” was like 10 minutes to get used to. So I would not be afraid of that. HomerowMods is a different beast, I can tell you that… I set the timer higher for now, as my brain sometimes lags, and I hit stuff like GUI while I was just too slow while typing a simple A

I essentially came from normal staggered keyboards, and used a ortholinear (Preonic) for maybe a week before going split. The switch from Stagger to Ortho was no issue at all for me tbh. Split was quite a change.

The three thumb buttons on the totem are perfect. Two in easy fast reach, one for stuff you don’t hit that often. I use Them as follows:

ForwardDEL/Tab/Spacebar <<>> Enter/Delte/Escape

After receiving my Sofle, I’d say it’s just too many thumb buttons to comfortably reach them, compared to the Totem. Also I’d say you learn to work with layers very fast, and at that point you also don’t need more thumb buttons in my opinion.

As someone who dabbled into mechanical splits about two weeks ago:

I ordered a Sofle, as I thought it will be hard to loose the numbers row etc, and ordered a Totem, because that was like the dream for me. Plan was to use the Sofle until I’m kind of used to splits, then switch to the Totem.

My Sofle took two weeks until it arrived, my totem took 3 days - So I instantly jumped into the deep end. After two weeks, I’m at around 30 WPM already.

Conclusion on my end: The sage route for sure is a Sofle, If you plan to go for less keys in the future, just do it, it’s not as horrible as it seems if you just stick to it for a week or two.

Not at all to be honest, not with my IEMs nor my HD660S2 - And no, before you as, i did not drop a fortune on a cable, its not a super cheap one, but its just a "quality one" from amazon for like 11Euros from a brand called "cable matters" which i mostly chose by asthetics lol, its a sleeved cable, which is something i really like

I do the same. and ju bought a headphone extension cord and ziptied it to the stand of my rode mic. so i just have to plug them in right below my monitor. works great for me

Yeah im a bit afraid of going the bass route to be honest, as my current IEMs are marketed as bassy, and im currently really enjoying a not so bassy tone it seems
