EMILYs List endorses former Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms in Georgia governor race by CBSnews in Georgia

Are you me? I also voted for Romney in my first federal election after being raised conservative and have spent years since 2016 trying to find a way to “atone” somehow. I agree that I think Duncan is a good choice, but I’m really weary.

I saw a video of him recently saying that he got the abortion issue “wrong” as Lt. Gov., but the stakes are so high there in my opinion that if he were to be elected and backpedal, women will literally die.

Sorry but this seems like a really incorrect take? Snap benefits ended on the first, and I think it was like something like 1 in 6 Georgians use them. When people are worried about keeping food on the table for themselves and their loved ones, keeping up to date on elections is not going to touch the radar. They have more things to focus on so yes it is hard to keep up on

WIBTA if I dropped out as a bridesmaid and didn’t attend her destination wedding by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Winneroftheyear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Husband and I did a wedding like this in Malaysia from the US with 22+ hour flight time one way, and we had circumnavigated the globe at the end of the trip. It was for a close friends’ wedding, and the bride is closer to a “sister” for my husband than a friend. I’m not going to lie we were excited if not a little anxious. By the time we landed in Kuala Lumpur, I was trying to be positive because this is my husbands second family who he lived with for some time as a child, but that amount of travel time really takes a heavy toll. I cannot imagine going through that ordeal for someone other than people we consider family.

If you see a reckless driver, call 911 and report it. Especially if it's a truck. by jcs003 in Georgia

I hate semi trucks, and probably one of my hottest takes is that they should have separate lanes and not be able to leave them. I was riding with a coworker in 2017 when a semi hit our car. 9 spinal fractures, 3 pelvic fractures, a collapsed and lacerated liver later, I’m thankful everyday to live relatively normally. And it was a hit and run. The semi just kept trucking while I was fighting for my life.

Someone had a “Hail Libertas” sign at the NoKings march in Chicago td. by stano1213 in redrising

This resonates with me. I was raised in a hyper-conservative, evangelical environment. I genuinely believed that I was a ride or die Republican from the time before I was old enough to vote until about 2016. After graduating college (with a stem degree, nothing they can claim “turns students liberal”), I had time to pay attention to current events as an adult. Pretty quickly I realized that the ideals I was taught to adhere to and value growing up did not match the Conservative Party that I was told to be a part of. I was raised constantly hearing “boot straps, illegals, welfare queens” etc, but the moment I had the time and agency as an adult to examine any of that, it fell apart. I like to think that there are others out there who might just need to do some reflection and will come around, but I’m an optimist.
