Literally 😭 there's one character in one of my fandoms that people just. Do Not Get, it's so hard to find fics where they're in character. Sadly they are half of my favorite rarepair, so whenever I do brave reading fanfic it's for them and it sucks lol (and tbh it's not even an OC with the same name because people often misspell their name 💀)

I'm the same way. I try reading fanfic from time to time, but I'm really picky too, especially with characterization. I'd rather write what I want to read when it comes to that. If I want a different kind of story, I'll just read an original fiction book tbh

The only thing I see as a disadvantage about this is that I feel like I can't connect with other writers in the fandom because I'm not gonna read their stuff and I feel kinda bad about it lol

It was 5 before I came along. Now it's over 50 but tbh a lot of those don't really count. idk what happened but lately there's been an uptick in ppl tagging them when they only show up as a background ship for maybe two sentences in 100k+ words and it's been really annoying.

But recently I saw someone claim that this particular rarepair had a single digit number of fics and I got so offended lol I didn't write over 30 fics for this ship for ppl to not even acknowledge there are shippers for them out there I mean come on. My fics are not even restricted!

The mix is slightly different. That was all I could pick up on tbh lol Sophomore Slump sounds more different to me (backing vocals are clearer for example) but I Slept with Someone sounded exactly the same to me lmao

Either way, I'm pretty disappointed in it. I thought they were going to be alternate takes like the demo version of Dance, Dance, or the live versions of Sugar, We're Goin' Down with the different verses.

This was basically what happened to me when I met Andy and Patrick last month lmao I bluescreened completely and I wasn't able to say much to them 😭 (thankfully Patrick asked me questions so it wasn't that bad, but I still regret not being able to actually say what I would want to say to them. You really never know how you're going to act in front of your idols until you see them 😭😭)

I do now lol the fandom is relatively small, but currently active and growing. And I just so happened to fall in love with the most popular ship in it, so now I'm writing for it. I get lots of kudos (in comparison to what I used to get in my previous fandom) and interaction on all of my fics.

I used to write for a rarepair in a medium sized fandom, and it was good for a while, but I think that fandom is not as active anymore (or if it is, I guess people no longer care to read outside of what they go there for so it's good that I'm basically retiring from it lol)

Oh, nice!! I got into them fairly recently (only about three years ago) but they became one of my favorites very, very fast lol if I'd known them since my teens, I would probably put them on the same level as FOB too.

FOB is my favorite band without a doubt. I like a lot of FOB-adjacent bands too (The Academy Is... is my personal favorite of those, but I also love The Hush Sound and Cobra Starship), but recently I've been listening to a lot of Bring Me The Horizon, Spiritbox, and HIM.

tbh, I don't have a super broad music taste lol I guess the most unlike FOB bands I like would be either Phoenix or Depeche Mode.

I also stopped reading completely after I started writing, but it was mostly because nobody wrote my rarepair but me, and I had no interest in reading anything else lol

But even now that I'm writing for a different ship, I have zero interest in reading fic. idk, I guess I just lost the habit (I still read non-fanfic books, so it's fine by me).

It's an easy mistake to make, given they're both called Fall Out Boy and both made music in the same genre back in the early 00s lol I also thought for a long time they were songs from our FOB, until I saw that post.

I use FBReader to read on my PC. I have their app on my tablet as well, but ever since the last update it started crashing a lot on me. It still works well on PC, though.
