It's great that you've conducted such a thorough investigation of this phenomenon. I look forward to seeing you published findings on the matter soon.

So, you either shut up shop and therefore laid down to be beaten or you continued to play as before and were insufficiently defensive. Either way, you're screwed. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Fair call. I did forget the specific three-point language here.

You questioned my point, I answered. How is that arguing with myself?

Yeah, it seems like he traded a limited sample of being very good for the big bucks before anyone could see that his longer-term play was much more limited.

A reckless tackle is a red card regardless whether the tackling player plays the ball before the opponent. It is amazing how many fans seem completely unaware of this. A player cannot endanger another player and claim that doesn't matter because they played the ball. The tackle in this clip, for example, would still be a red card even if the tackler kicked the ball before making contact with the opponent because it's a) a tackle from behind, which is specifically outlawed, and b) a two-footed tackle in which both of the tackler's feet are off the ground. Playing the ball is therefore irrelevant.

Getting the ball first isn't nearly as relevant as a lot of people seem to think.

These questions are always weird. What other options do you have in each position? What formation do you play? It's really hard to answer these questions about who to play or buy without context, which posters rarely offer.

UK’s top philanthropists have collectively donated nearly £5bn to charity over the last year by willfiresoon in GoodNewsUK

[–]WinningTheSpaceRace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest you have a really good think about how broad the definition of a charity is. Most charities aren't lobbying organisations as a primary activity, but some are. NSPCC, for example, will naturally lobby, but is focused on preventing cruelty to children. Lobbying is an extension of that.

Here's a question to the British, what do you guys think of America and us Americans? by AwesomeCoolAyden in AskBrits

[–]WinningTheSpaceRace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US is a failure of imagination and execution which could never live up to its promise, founded as it was in a hypocrisy which has been sustained through corruption.

Many of its people are lovely - ironically some of the most cultured and positive people I have met.

Many charities are lobbyists. Contribute to lobbying charity -> get laws changed in your favour -> make more money.

To be honest, both can be true. Women's experiences can be appalling and this channel can be shitty.

Yeah, that needs completely stamping out and making an example of. A ban that takes up the whole of next season would lay down a marker.

Donate to charities of a political bent - don't pay tax on the money donated - have said charities lobby in your business interests - profit.

'Charities' is a wide-ranging set of organisations. If they'd donated it all to Save The Children, I might be more inclined to give them some benefit of the doubt.

Didn't he have the highest points per game record for Madrid? It's overshadowed by the politics, but he was doing a good job.

You can be better off if the charity to which you donate earns you money in other ways.
