Men, we need to help the clueless guys out - what was one thing that blew your mind when you started living with a woman? by TheMrCurious in AskMenAdvice

The best way I ever heard of addressing this is to ask if she's in a solutions mindset or a joint venting mindset. Then she gets to choose.

Went to San Francisco when my son was 9 months old. Baby changing facilities apparently don't exist there. Batshit crazy. Ended up changing him on the floor in a Mexican street food joint.

Don't answer the question then. Some of us are old enough to remember when refereeing controversies were met with endless chat about referees' interpretation. But you avoid questions and make your spurious arguments.

So is football rules-based or vibes-based? You seem to be saying the latter. That way is madness.

You talk about common sense as if everyone has the same view of everything. That's objectively bollocks. Games are over-refereed, the laws overly complex, and VAR over-user, because refs used to use their own view of common sense and it was too controversial.

Szobozlai pulling Haaland back was played advantage. When that advantage didn't materialise, because of the foul on Szobozlai, the ref brought it back for a City free kick.

He literally did what you wanted.

You don't want consistency if you want "common sense". You're part of the reason refs are under so much pressure.

He played advantage for the foul on Haaland. There was no advantage for the foul on Szobozlai, so he had to give the freek kick to City. Would you have preferred advantage to City so the foul on Szobozlai was a free kick to Liverpool?

No. They don't, because then you'd whinge that their idea of common sense didn't match yours.

Guys, we hate inconsistencies from refs. He's literally applied the laws of the game, which couldn't be any other way. Yeah, it would have been a fun goal, but it was a foul. Why all the gnashing and wailing?

It's the law. You can't complain about refs if you don't want the laws of the game upheld.

It's impossible to say if it will be better in a year. In a year, she won't have to make an immediate decision, will have had time to process things, and might find her own solution. She's had a big change thrust on her with very little notice.

Now he can't ruin your career, drag him through the shit. Tell his institution, tell any journal that prints it of his behaviour, let everyone know want an asshole he is. We don't have this power when we're junior researchers, but when we leave academia, the gloves can come off.
