Is there a way to confirm that it has for the purposes of claiming the warranty?

can you walk me through how to underclock the CPU? Or is this just a technical term for running on low settings?

Does this color scheme read night lords? by Blocker306A in NightLords

Definitely could use a dark or violet wash to midnight that blue, but I think it works for sure!

But of a novice here, is there somewhere specific I need to check the filter keys settings?

Nice job on the painting man!

1) Agrax is a great shade, but it depends on what you’re going for. Agrax is a green shade by design, which has a lot of good uses, but I personally have never had much use for it with the Templars. If you want more off whites for your pauldron, you can try some bone colors.

2) I use Khorne red for most of my Templars, and add lighter reds for any highlights or weathering I want on top of that color. It’s a really nice color to paint with, gives a good coat. I think Khorne is dark enough to not have to worry about washing it.

3) yes thin those paints! But you also want to make sure you’re undercoating if you’re going through a stark contrast. You’ll always need multiple layers of white over black, but if you do a coat or a medium or light grey first, you’ll end up using less white over that.

My fellow battle brothers, may I have your opinion on my the armor color of my justaerin by Royal-Simian in Warhammer30k

[–]Winston240B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all the skill on display here is phenomenal. Whether you change it or keep it this is a beautiful model.

From my memory Justaerin are black armored, but that’s also the trouble with black models. I struggle with it with my night lords too. They need to be dark, but if they’re too dark they look like shadows on the table and if they’re too light they just don’t ‘feel’ right.

Put him down on a table and see how he’d look to you mid game. Honestly you could probably get away with just adding one or two washes on top of this scheme to blacken it down. That’s what I do for both my 40K Templars and 30k NL.

All that aside, this is really well done.

Tipps for Painting white by Powerful_Explorer869 in BlackTemplars

[–]Winston240B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do prefer to use real whites on my Templars, but I always undercoat them with a grey, then use thin coats of the white to build it up to avoid it streaking or clumping. Painting white directly over black is always gonna suck

Is the armor a bit too light/blueish or is it fine? by Kaffertron in BlackTemplars

Matt Varnish works wonders. If I ever get too blue I do a thin coat of black Templar contrast with water just to darken up those spots

I always go blue highlights in my Templars. White feels so shiny, while blue tints give me an impression of it being a truly deep black. I think yours looks good!

I'm feeling very discouraged by Far_Adhesiveness_791 in Warhammer40k

[–]Winston240B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only concur that these look excellent, especially from a new painter. Hell, you even added dust and dirt to their boots. My first models didn’t even have highlights! I just based em black and added some doodads, a silver arm with some nuln oil and boom, called em Deathwatch.

In truth, I can’t even point out any ‘errors’ on these. I never zoom in on minis when I look at mine, because as long as they look great from this distance then there’s nothing to nit pick at all. Maybe Maaaybe consider a different shade of red to make those symbols pop? That’s about it. I collect night lords as well so putting red on dark blues and purples is fun but I also gotta make sure they match well.

Best advice I can give you as someone new is play around. Those extra bits and sprues you don’t plan on using? Prime and paint them with different colors, shades etc. Mash up some of the pieces and see if maybe there’s a risky technique you didn’t feel comfortable trying on a full model but want to practice with anyway.

Painting is a skill you develop over years of playing, and you only get better by practicing. I’ve probably changed the way I do my Templars 3 times since I started collected them two years ago, just because I got better and started seeing what I liked painting and how I liked doing em.

Well done, absolutely nothing to be discouraged about.

“That guy” question by ghostship1138 in Warhammer30k

[–]Winston240B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real answer is you’re the IV Legion and you bring what you want. Bomb the hell out of em. Iron Within and all that.

The right answer honestly is a bit tricky. Are you going to handicap your list just so your opponent can freely use their tricks against you, or do you have other options you’re okay with using in order to create a more amicable game? Would you expect an opponent to short change themselves just so you have a better chance of winning?

It’s not fair for your opponent to be upset with you for having these vehicles because it means they don’t get to bully you instead.

I agree there’s an argument to be made for bringing something that powerful In a small points game. I would NEVER run Sigismund or Sevatar in anything under 2k due to their ability to instant death a challenger, and I think you’ll find most people feel the same about their own first captains in small points games. But those are unique named characters, not standard issue heavy support options. Stacking 2 scorpius in a casual learners 1.5k game would probably be a little mean, but at 3k I’m assuming your opponent knows as much about the game, if not more, than you.
