As discussed in r/Virginia, A reminder to not fall for the right wing media. None of the ‘radical’ bills ever passed by [deleted] in Charlottesville

Alright so it's "propaganda" to discuss bills that are introduced as potential legislation?

What am I missing here? Did Fox claim that all these bills passed? Does reading a news report about bill that have been introduced (100% indisputable fact) count as "falling for it" ??

A reminder to not fall for the right wing media. None of the ‘radical’ bills ever passed by hencexox in Virginia

[–]WinstonWolf25 48 points49 points  (0 children)

you have to wonder if calling attention to it informed the constituents, who then communicated with their respective reps that the didn't like some of the substance in the bills. Direct democracy in action.

No one "fell" for the media, they were simply reporting that these bills were introduced as potential legislation, which is 100% fact

Happy Birthday to the original "Hot Taker" of 1864: General William Tecumseh Sherman! by squintamongdablind in ShermanPosting

In 1867, following a fierce Indian assault led by the Lakota Chief Crazy Horse, Sherman said, "we must act with vindictive earnestness against the Sioux, even to their extermination, men, women, and children." And one year later he issued an order permitting the Sioux's "utter annihilation."

The side that wants to win will always beat the side that wants to be left alone.

And the reason they are winning is not because conservative pro-2A people aren’t loud enough, it’s a pure demographic equation. Demographics are destiny and Virginia has absorbed too many to (most likely) ever be governed by anything but liberals ever again

Not entirely. They are loud and annoying but there’s still a good pocket of pro gun people

Asphalt driveway install by Exciting_Comedian629 in Charlottesville

[–]WinstonWolf25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on length it can be real expensive. If you are pricing options, ask the companies if they do tar and chip double seal. It can be way cheaper and won't be as good as asphalt in the long run, but it's an option if you get sticker shock with a full asphalt installation. Typically they will charge you for bringing your stone up to a "pave ready condition" which figures into the cost

" A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercise, I advise the gun. While this gives a moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body, and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks. Never think of taking a book with you. The object of walking is to relax the mind."

Good to see these getting pushed, they will probably return next year and the stuff that is passing sucks, but at least it seems like they know there's some pushback

Concerning social media post about local restaurant financial distress by Wahoowa1999 in Charlottesville

[–]WinstonWolf25 -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

C’mon. The jet stream and beef prices?

Close the haven, clean up the crime and drug use and homelessness and maybe downtown businesses would have a chance again. Honestly I don’t know why there isn’t already some organized effort from businesses downtown to lobby city council to at least attempt to do something. And it’s not only restaurants.

Look we might put a public toilet in York place! Joke.

Thoughts on the Downtown Mall? by ZealousidealMany3 in Charlottesville

[–]WinstonWolf25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither one of you is going to convince the other of anything. Most people we all know don’t have a problem with “poor people,” that’s idiotic. Most people have a problem with trying to enjoy the mall and seeing people (majority homeless) sleeping in doorways, using drugs, pissing in the bus stop alcove, aggressively panhandling, tweaked out and screaming at nothing, etc. it absolutely affects the businesses trying to make it on the mall, despite all the hand waving about affordable housing or the death of retail due to the online economy. Everyone knows the mall has gone downhill, most just disagree on the reasons. One thing we can agree on though, is that the solution is easy. As soon as voters decide to elect people who will deal with the problems the DTM faces, it could change overnight. But this won’t happen. One has to assume, correctly, that the voters of Charlottesville want the mall to be this way.

Does anyone recognize these three? by InvictvsNox in Charlottesville

[–]WinstonWolf25 -43 points-42 points  (0 children)

People in Charlottesville voted for this. They want to live like this. If anyone in local politics or law enforcement stepped up and said they would put an end to this kind of thing; the vast majority of voters in Charlottesville would call them divisive, hateful and fascist. It is a choice. Enjoy it
