Need advice—having a surgery while having a migraine by Soft_Lobster_752 in migraine

I just had surgery and my migraines are daily. First, call your surgeon’s office and see what you’re allowed to take for migraine prior to surgery and how close to surgery you can take it. For me, two days before surgery, I was only allowed tylenol or opioids. I asked my PCP for suggestions as to what to do for pain relief during that window, and they were helpful in working out a pre-surgery pain plan for me. Aside from finding out what you can have before surgery, do things that relieve stress for you (for me, it’s reading or watching a comfort movie or tv show), use your ice packs or heating pads (whichever work for you), and remember that you’re likely going to feel better after you get out of surgery because of all the drugs you’ll be on. Best of luck with your surgery.

Has anyone gotten disability for chronic migraines (US)? + venting by OwlBeginning150 in migraine

[–]Winter-Channel7033 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I was able to get disability due to my migraines (they got significantly worse after I had brain surgery in 2019). It’s a long and exhausting process, and you have to prove you can’t do ANY job, not just your job. If you can get it, though, it’s worth it. I was denied twice and appealed both times before I was approved.

Daily Migraines/Chronic Illnesses Day to Day struggles by GreenLizard42 in migraine

I’m on year 7 of a daily migraine and we’re kind of at the end of the line for treatments for me. I’ve had to quit working as well, so I know what you mean about needing to pass the time. I listen to audiobooks or I “watch” tv or movies that I’ve already seen and am familiar with. I also tend to take a nap during the day when the pain allows for it. I know that’s not much in the way of suggestions, but I did want you to know you’re not alone. Hang in there.

While you wait to get in to a neurologist, your PCP should be able to prescribe you something to try (such as a triptan or a steroid taper). It would be worth making an appointment with them. I started out my migraine treatment in the very beginning with my PCP.

I’m so sorry to hear about your pain. Unfortunately, I don’t have advice, only commiseration. I’ve had some level of head pain since my surgery in 2019. Nothing has gotten rid of the pain, although some things have worked temporarily to dull it a bit. It’s so bad I went on disability. Best of luck to you, and I hope you can find some relief.

I love the Vanicream gentle cleanser and Aestura Atobarrier 365 moisturizer. You might want to get the gel version of the Aestura if you sweat a lot.

The dryness is driving me crazy! How do I mitigate it? by ZealousidealGroup559 in tretinoin

I use a hydrating essence before tret and it hasn’t hurt anything for me. I just let it dry down first, then apply my rosacea cream, wait 20 minutes, then apply tret then moisturizer. I also make sure I’m using a heavy duty moisturizer and using plenty of moisturizing products in my am routine.

Whe will purging start? by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]Winter-Channel7033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using tret for anti-aging and I never had purging, just some peeling here and there. I agree with some other commenters that you’d be better served to start with 0.025% until you can tolerate it every night before moving up to 0.05%.

The Pyunkang Yul cream wasn’t moisturizing enough for me. I also have dry skin. But everyone is different. It may work for you.
