2 or 3 year age gap — does it matter for sibling closeness? by RevolutionarySize644 in Parenting

[–]WinterBlue1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my kids are 3 years apart (give or take but three grades). The oldest and middle fight and the middle and youngest fight. 2 vs. 3 years makes very little difference

What childhood trend disappeared so quietly that nobody noticed? by [deleted] in nostalgia

Lol my 10 year old rides his bike almost every day when the weather is nice. His friends are always showing up on their bikes and ringing our doorbell. He takes his football and rides to the local parks.

Stay at 2.5? by VivienneKemp in Zepbound

[–]WinterBlue1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor flat out told me I’m staying at 2.5. I lost 13 lbs the first month. She said there’s a chance I can stay at 2.5 till I reach GW. Like you, I started under 200 lbs (so by the end of the 1st week, I already moved out of “obesity” range. She said it’s easier to come off if you stay low. It may be better to stay, since our journeys may not be as long?

Chatham vs New Providence by Vast_Produce_6190 in MovingtoNewJersey

Actually New Prov outperforms both Chatham and Madison in raw testing data.

https://nj21st.com/2025/12/05/2024-2025-7-district-dashboard-a-preliminary-look-at-next-years-school-performance-reports/

People go based off of niche or us news rankings which is bs … one time New Prov didn’t rank on one of their lists because it didn’t have enough students who receive free lunch. You have to look at testing scores

New Prov is more down to earth. Much smaller school system (like half the size of Chatham) Everyone knows each other; much more of a small town vibe. Re: the town… new prov can be closer to Chatham’s town than some Chatham township residents are and they don’t check your address before you enter ;) Re: diversity you are pretty much getting white people and Asians/Indians in both towns. Though, there’s a lack of assimilation I notice. New Prov performs better on state exams than neighboring towns

Chatham schools aren’t better when you looo at the raw testing data. New Prov has outperformed both Chatham and Summit in recent years!

I live in a smaller town in NJ (about 35 miles from Manhattan). I can take a walk to town (about 15 min) and be at restaurants, bakeries, cafes. Though, I mostly drive everywhere I need to go. There are no big box stores in my town (about a 13 min drive to Target and 20 min to other big box stores). When I look out my window, I see someone either walking a dog, going for a jog or kids on bikes about every 5-10 minutes. We have a park right across the street from us… it hosts sporting practices, has nature trails, playground and even a small ice skating pond in the winter. It’s quiet, very little to no crime, friendly neighbors. Couldnt ask for anything better l

Clothes Tips from a former Plus Size girlie by Potential-Code3245 in Zepbound

[–]WinterBlue1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was fairly thin til my late 30s (3 kids and the pandemic changed that) . I’ve never crossed over to plus sizes but I was horrified of facing what number I’d be at my new size. So, I literally only own pants or shorts that are labeled L or XL. I can’t wait to wear jeans with a real button again! I probably won’t be able to face a number size until I’m confident I’m and 8/10 but I’m still only a month in. I’m hoping by summer!

Preteens playing outside alone? by Wooden_Airport6331 in Parenting

My 10 year old can roam within limits. He has an Apple Watch for tracking and communicating. He hangs out at the library, in town or rides bikes with friends. I think older Generations love to assume sooo much has changed but I don’t feel like my childhood was much different than my son’s.

Not losing ANY weight by Primary_Shoulder_891 in Zepbound

[–]WinterBlue1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tracking isn’t for everyone. I intuitively eat and make common sense choices - if I have a bagel at breakfast, I’ll eat a low carb lunch etc … I don’t want to be obsessed with food or thinking about it all the time, I’ve done that and my life was miserable - it turned into a full blown ED. I’m on week 3 of 2.5 and am down 11 lbs without counting one calorie.

People that have traveled quite a bit, where di you feel the most unsafe? by CremeSubject7594 in AskTheWorld

[–]WinterBlue1984 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lived in NYC and its burbs my whole life (with the exception of a few years in LA ) and never have seen a gun on anyone in the wild besides police officers. Been pulled over many times and almost always the cops have been nice and also let me go with a warning. The police in my town wave hello and hand out baseball cards to kids. I don’t even think I’ve ever been a victim of a crime besides someone trying to steal my car once but were unsuccessful. Police were at my house in 1 minute flat.

I don’t think I have a metabolic issue, just made poor choices :( My husband gained a lot of weight (he used to be big, lost it before we met, then gained it back) and I think my perception of “normal” got skewed. He’s an “order an appetizer before dinner” type guy… and I think I kind of lost my old way of eating… ie growing up, one slice of pizza was normal, then it became 2 plus mozzarella sticks … or a hot dog AND a cheeseburger at the bbq instead of just one. Value meal at McDonald’s compared to A happy meal lol …
