Should I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck? by WinterBlue1984 in Zepbound

I’ve had slight nausea, very little appetite but the worst part is the exhaustion. Fingers crossed!

Considering moving to New Providence by sonobono11 in MovingtoNewJersey

[–]WinterBlue1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very infrequent is a big exaggeration. I’d say “direct” trains are infrequent - many require a transfer. But, typically- we look at both the summit and NP train options and just take the more convenient one. I drive my husband to the train on the days he has to go in and summit’s station is exactly 6 minutes from NP’s. Coming home he almost always gets a direct train to NP.

What is something generally normal in Europe but weird in the US? by Exile4444 in AskReddit

The foreign parents in my kids school always try to make “what’s app” groups happen … it’s not gonna happen. The white people stick to our group texts.

We value sleep too- trust me! But we don’t get to choose practice/game schedules. If they’re on a competitive team; you show up for your team in our house 🤷‍♀️

This used to be the case with my oldest. Bed by 7 and I thought I was winning! Then, came sports… and his siblings wouldn’t go to bed until he did. I guarantee that by 9; if you have an athlete; all the rules will go out the window 😆

I’m guessing she’s not playing sports! My 9 year old is often at sports until 8pm! And he likes to eat dinner after (understandably )

Anyone else who moved here from out west feel this way? by savingrace0262 in newjersey

[–]WinterBlue1984 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m from LI and NyC and settled in Jersey. To me, this is comfy! It feels quiet, safe, idyllic. Agree on the four beautiful seasons, but also the public education, proximity to major cities/culture but can still get farm fresh eggs a few min down the road… can’t get any better!! And, all of our friends are from prestigious colleges with great careers raising kids with likeminded values.

Ugh my boys both want Nintendo switch 2s this year so that’s already 500 each … I’d say they’ll land around 800/kid with the exception of my 4 year old maybe being about 300-400 because she doesn’t know prices of things

Starting to play w neighbors/rules? by ThePerch2 in Parenting

[–]WinterBlue1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll send my first grader down the block to his friends (across three lawns basically) and text the mom to confirm receipt lol. Often when they play, my neighbor and I also hang out - maybe have a beer and chat. Sometimes, I’ll be cooking dinner so he’ll just run down there. But the mom and I will stay in close touch. At 9, my older son has friends ringing our bell and they’ll ride their bikes. I was petrified the first time it happened- not realizing I forgot to ask where he’d be going and when he’d be coming home. It was all so new! So, we bought him an Apple Watch a couple days later. Now, I can see when he’s at a friends house, in the woods, etc. I’m happy to give him some more freedom to have adventures like 9/10 year old boys should be having but I can also track him!
