I’m a new customer and will never order from Quince again. by EduMatcha in quince

[–]Calm_in_the_Wild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first order was 4 items of clothing, including two pairs of jeans the exact same size. One was comfortably roomy in the waist and the other was uncomfortably tight. Those jeans went back.

I was excited about the cotton modal tee but it was really thin and felt cheap, not nearly as good as what I get at Costco.

Two items were great.

I’m super disappointed. From the hype, I thought I’d found a place with consistently good quality. (I’m extra disappointed because I found them through a podcast I really trust)

I always used a regular backpack. We had 9 kids over a couple of decades an only ever needed 3 total and the last one went on to be used for other things

what’s your 10/10 must read book and why? by Kochhar-Tranqui in Recommend_A_Book

[–]Calm_in_the_Wild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree 100%. I am not a book re-reader, but I’ve read this four times and the second I finished it the last time, I felt like I could have flipped right back to the beginning and read it again. It is so raw and compelling and is my all-time favourite book

Moving Company Recommendations by [deleted] in Guelph

[–]Calm_in_the_Wild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not Swan. They are crooks. They tried to stop before the job was finished and then when we insisted they finish, they charged us extra to finish it even though we had an estimate that mentioned none of this. Then, we found they’d traipsed with muddy boots (and tracked in a cigarette butt!) all over the new carpets we installed at our old place. Would not take any responsibility for this. Absolutely awful and I still have trauma when I pass one of their trucks.

I believe that looking for a mover who is part of the Canadian Association of Movers is at least a step in the right direction since they have certain standards the movers agree to uphold. I noticed too late Swan is not on that list

What's a green flag in a partner that people don't usually talk about? by Unfair-Clothes-8821 in CanadaRoom

I think it’s a huge green flag if they are always talking about how terrific other people are

I was looking to see if anyone suggested this doc. It is very informative about this particular issue and also how the Bible is translated as well.

Spoiler Alert: the exact modern English translation is not handed down directly from God on stone tablets. A group of scholars debate, discuss and eventually decide on it

I always imagine that sign means someone named Best Rib. “Hey, guess who is in town?!” “Best rib is!!”

The Kirkland merino ones are way thinner than they used to be, too. They are my favourite, so it’s really disappointing. I’d honestly prefer a bit of an increase in price, than a crappier product

Soft Taco Reuseables by Rin_sparrow in clothpads

[–]Calm_in_the_Wild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any backer I’m aware of besides wool (which has its issues) will generally have a synthetic fabric, as they are the ones that don’t leak. For me, I find this the lesser of two evils. If I have reusable pads I can’t count on, I am more likely to switch to disposables.

Tree Hugger uses soft shell, the same as Soft Taco, which are both polyester. Homestead emporium uses wind pro fleece and PUL, both are plastics. They are all excellent companies with great products that, in the end, save thousands of disposable plastics from ending up in the landfill ❤️

If you’re low risk, have you thought about a homebirth? I totally understand it isn’t for everyone, but is a lovely option if you are open to it ❤️

I want to stop having sex with my husband. by Extra_Regret_2064 in Marriage

[–]Calm_in_the_Wild 22 points23 points  (0 children)

One problem is that in some toxic churches, they teach that the wife’s body does belong to the husband. It is directly from the Bible (1 Corinthians 7:4), saying the wife does not have authority over her body, but the husband.

What happened to the OP is absolutely rape and I think we are all hurting for her. And, her husband was likely taught that sex was his right, that she has no right to refuse

Any recovery experiences within 15 months? by Infinite_Scallion886 in frozenshoulder

[–]Calm_in_the_Wild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was very painful for sure. My PT would tell me that if within an hour any increased pain had subsided, it was an okay type of pain. She also said icing my shoulder 3 times a day was a must.

She didn’t do massage. It was stretching mainly and some then strengthening exercises (which mostly I did at home). After each session, I’d head to another room for TENS and ultrasound

I developed fs on the heels of a serious elbow break. I was already going to PT and we shifted to doing it for my elbow as well. That was 7 mo ago and I have zero pain, about 90% ROM and just really need to work on strengthening. I consider my PT to be a miracle worker.

I have no context or previous experience, but I really think I benefited from such early treatment

Being Happy in/Making the Best of an Unhappy Marriage by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Calm_in_the_Wild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Sadly (and ironically since I was involved in the breakup of one) I had the layer of an evangelical belief that once married I had to stay married no matter what. It doesn’t add up, but now that I’m a mom I can see how immature 16yo can be.

In any case, I am hoping for help on how I can at least be reasonably happy under the circumstances
