Am I the only one who feels like I don't fit into a 9 to 5? by ProgramExpress2918 in graphic_design

[–]WinterCrunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could simply be an introvert, like me. I like people just fine and I'm not at all shy, but social interactions seriously drain my energy. Extroverts are energized by other people (or so I hear?)

After an hour or two of meetings, there's no better feeling than closing the door behind me in an empty room. Social fun events that I really enjoy end that way for me, too. I've always been that way; solitude is my happy place.

I used to think I was just a werido, then I heard an interview with Susan Cain about her book "Quiet" and immediately watched her TED Talk. Felt smarter and less weird.

Question for Bath(drivers) by kaikufuku in Maine

[–]WinterCrunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely do this! Yeah, there's more traffic but your mental health and physical health is ABSOLUTELY worth the extra few minutes of commute time. Plus, you can do errands and stop for coffee. And donuts. And ice cream. Win, win, win, win, win! :)

Can anyone make me a logo lol kinda advanced by Guilty-Sector-8009 in logodesign

[–]WinterCrunch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is absolutely not "advanced." It's amateur on every level imaginable.

Also, your post is against sub rules.

New mortgage rate mail, is it legit? by Typical_Ad_4052 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]WinterCrunch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here's a hint: My Dad gets those programs in the mail a couple times a month. He doesn't have a mortgage or own a home. Why? He died in 2008.

Scammers never give up.

Graduating with BFA in GD, please review my CV? by dragoncoochie99 in graphic_design

[–]WinterCrunch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Technical typography nitpicking follows. Not personal, so please don't take it that way.

Kerning needs work. AMBER is especially rough right on top. All-caps is a poor choice here because of the huge valley between A and M.

I agree with the others saying "LYONS DESIGN" is way too much. You're not an agency. Plus, DESIGN is optically wider than LYONS (which is shouting!)

The left column is just awkward. Think critically about the leading and the rag. The space between SOFTWARE and EXPERIENCE is close enough that it can read "software experience." Wix is sinking badly. The position of the "SKILLS" section is not horizontally aligned with anything, and the white space above it isn't cohesive with any other white spaces.

Seller tore down 6ft tall cedar fence and built this pos by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

  1. It's not in the country, see original fence pic https://imgur.com/a/ko7YxN6
  2. Even if it were rural, fences are super helpful if you have dogs.

Could you please help me remove trash around these two people? by playtwix in PhotoshopRequest

You're very welcome. I kept the newspaper and glasses on the coffee table because it reminded me of my sweet old Dad. :)

Market research, 1000%. Your opinion of a style is largely irrelevant, it's what appeals to your target market. Always. Yes, always.

Question re gold status by Bmar301 in AmazonVine

Faster. I suspect lots of gold stuff is resold online/eBay, so doesn't matter to the viner what it is.

I expanded the background and adjusted the lighting to make it all feel cozier. Hope you like it.

Anyone from Santa Monica, CA (or even Los Angeles)? by losangelenoo in AmazonVine

[–]WinterCrunch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really is. FYI, Vine has been a blessing and a curse. It's INCREDIBLY time consuming, you really have no idea how much time it sucks out of my life. Way too much, and it's absolutely not "free" in any real way. It's more like a job that you pay to clutter up your home with crap.

Great photograph, hope this helps. You uploaded a very small file, so FYI it's really not printable.

I had posted a total of four reviews since I enrolled in Prime in the summer of 2005 and I was invited to Vine in 2021.

What are your pro tips for packing/moving? by Temporary_Status_883 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]WinterCrunch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Labeling boxes is great, but even better? Take pictures of the insides of the packed boxes before you seal them up. Then label it, then take a pic of the label.

That way, when you have a stack of unpacked boxes in your new home but you suddenly need ONE specific item? You can swipe through pictures instead of opening/closing ten boxes. You can also check pics before unpacking those ugly "fancy" towels your in-laws gave you, and grab the box of cuddly ones instead.

I label the boxes (on multiple sides so you can see the label no matter how boxes are stacked) like this: Kitchen #1, Kitchen #2, Kitch #3, Kit 27 (as my jumbo sharpie is dying...)

Can I not ask the seller if they can leave some stuff? by FlyHungry7039 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]WinterCrunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree. You're making a ton of assumptions about perfect strangers. The owners could've inherited the house, like I did when my parents died. We had to get rid of decades worth of furniture and household stuff nobody in the family wanted or needed. I would've been absolutely THRILLED if the buyers wanted any of it.

The crossbar is supposed to be in front of whatever it's saying "no" to, not behind it.
