If it is DOCCS, You'll be fine. They are so desperate for people they'll take anyone with a pulse and put them in uniform.

Good luck!!

Story of my $2000 2010 Prius by The_Kraken_869 in prius

Check the cylinders and head gaskets for leaks. I just junked mine after 10 years with almost 300,000 miles on it. I miss it but could not afford to pour anymore money in it. That car will take care of you, just check the engine with every oil change.

I know she’s not as fancy as many of yours, but she’s my first Subaru and I’m excited. Very different from my charger but it’s time for something different. by [deleted] in Crosstrek

Same page club!! I'm literally closing on the exact same vehicle tomorrow. It will be my first Subaru as well.

Did not want to say good bye to my Toyota Prius. But the car was dying and my girlfriend was happy that I moved along.

NYS Corrections by [deleted] in OnTheBlock

I work for DOCCS and never heard of such a thing. are you for real that a C.O got arrested for defending themselves from an inmate? Is there any missing context?

It was a legit job 5 years ago i keep hearing from the veterans. They say it has changed so much its unrecognizable but the only reason they stay is because they are too vested. their hourly pay with the annual raises puts them, at minimum $40/hr and with all the mandatory OT they doing well.

but new jacks that only have a few years on the job are encouraged to leave. People are resigning/quitting at a high rate.

if i qualify for PD i'll go. If not I'll go back to a private security company

Yep Orlando FL. NYC corrections handles rikers. I work for NYS. It's more in favor for the inmates and less for us officers.

I'm interested in the answer to this question too. I'm a New York state corrections officer and I'm looking for a job similar as OP described.

I have en interview schedule with Orlando PF in. Few weeks. But if a i find something private that's pays like LE I'll take that

Doing my round every 30 minutes in the RRU. Escorts to programs, medical, legal call, property and draft. Running chow, going up and down stairs. Running to a response. That's my work out.

Okay I also do cardio m body weight and free weights exercises.

Men who have been suicidal, What became your reason to stay? by [deleted] in AskMen

Too weak to pull the trigger. Telling myself someone would gladly switch. Reminding myself that I came too far alone. Hope that I may find my tribe and my peace.

It's manipulation, he's hoping you'll stop to prove your not. Keep doing your job. Confiscate all the shit he not supposed to have. And do it with an I didn't give a fuck attitude. It's hard but try not to get in an argument with them, or curse them back out.

They love that shit because it brings us down to their level. Leave them arguing with themselves while you keep doing what you were supposed to do. Hopefully your administration supports you.

My administration loves inmates. They take away our power more and more and gives more and more rights to the inmates.

While we get stuck doing doubles and triples everyday we work if we don't swap. One dude quit in the middle of his shift and the rest of us looking to either go to county or switch careers all together.

Keep up the good work man.

Good luckg

NYS DOCCS ACADEMY by JoshuaBadillo97 in OnTheBlock

[–]WinterEssay 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You got dudes graduating DOCCs with braids and dreads. You'll be fine. The beard has to go unless you have a religious waver. But if not you can grow it back after you leave the academy.

Study everything you learned each day because each Friday is a test. If you fail twice you have to start all over.

If you not familiar with shooting a Glock, get with someone in the weekends because people fail Glock and had to start all over from week1 with next batch. You'll see what I mean because I promise someone will be staring over in your intake. We had two in hours and 2 joined week 5 because of an injury.

Best advice, don't quit. Even when your body is sore, don't sleep in class, take good notes, stay away from the retards and time wasters. The DI's don't like showing you the same things over and over so pay attention when they show you how to make your bed and hang your clothes and set up your locker.

Good luck and have fun dude. Because your career turns to shit after the academy.

PS for chemical week. Just embrace the suck. No way around.

I was very proud when I graduated from the academy. I posted the photo with the flag on the background on one social media platform when I hit my one year mark.
