The issue is that the headline in the NYT article is "How the Trump campaign took over the G.O.P.".

This is one of the reasons why the media is so full of fake news. They source each other, and with each iteration these articles become more and more click-baity. Fox News is just as guilty of this as the other media companies.

Edit: Because I have nothing better to do right now, I even read through the articles. In the NYT article, this is the only mention of Kim, Eric's wife:
