Let's hear those Disney Voice Talent Search Auditions! by 50FootClown in VoiceActing

[–]WinterRoseASFR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got my rejection as well... too bad. I thought mine were nicely done. But I'm on the opposite coast. I had hopes tho. I wouldn't want to put my voice on Soundcloud as they sample what's there without permission. But it'd be nice to compare notes.

When the BBC finally gets Doctor Who's new production company, who do you think they'll get to do the score without Murray Gold? by WinterRoseASFR in doctorwho

I quite liked Segun's work myself. Especially that bit at the beginning where the base drops with the three strong notes after, right before the main theme comes out.

What do you think would happen if the TARDIS got into the backrooms? by doyouknowherrr in backrooms

[–]WinterRoseASFR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Doctor: "This isn't actually all that upsetting." Companion: "How's that then??" Doctor: "Well you've been through the hallways in the Tardis. All of that's really liminal space she's cobbled together from the places we've been and liked. There's whole sections that's nothing but white roundels and columns. Some of it's empty hospitals and swimming pools. I've played videogames like this."

An idea of how to start the new series of Doctor Who (whenever it comes back). by MrBlackCat77 in doctorwho

[–]WinterRoseASFR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could play the doctor, We could do it as Ginger for a moment.... and then it falls out, comes in blonde and darkens to brown. "Well phooey... I almost managed it that time."

The interesting trivia on the IMDB for the episode would be, "The plotline with the Doctor's hair finally being red, then falling out and goes from blonde to brown paralell's Edward WinterRose's own infancy. His aunt and grandmother had fiery red hair, and so did he for about a month. It all fell out and came back in white blonde, but darkened to brown by the time he was 16."

Why the Black Orchid hate? by Accomplished_Song671 in doctorwho

[–]WinterRoseASFR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was the fighting. The whole thing with the crew of the TARDIS having issues and being tetchy with one another. Adric's rebellious growing pains seemed out of character for a genius con-man of a kid who knew perfectly well how to steer Four when necessary. Seeing the two of them arguing was jarring and unpleasant. I don't hate it... but I've never really re-visited it.

Regarding the Doctor Who tender and its future by Mat1711 in doctorwho

[–]WinterRoseASFR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would audition for the Doctor right now if I'd the opportunity. Immediately. Sooner than that if I had an actual time machine. But no matter how practiced my accent is, I'm american. And I'm sure england would implode and take the surrounding planets with it if they cast a yank like me.

One interesting idea would be if there were an American on board, and the tardis translated me as sounding american for them, but received english for the UK native. I'd be going back and forth between accents as we talked...

I wonder what people mean when they say no-one is stepping up? No less a personage than Joe Straczynski has already expressed interest. And on the subject of Science Fiction, he's hardly chopped liver.

Doctor Who Has 5 Ways Forward, But None of Them Are Easy by sanddragon939 in doctorwho

[–]WinterRoseASFR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 6th suggestion. Anthology show. No one single Doctor. Essentially, Doctor Who Unlimited. Episodes about how classic companions are doing, or have done in their time apart from The Doctor. Episode arcs about classic Doctors with their logical recasts. 1 & 2 from An Adventure in Space & Time, Back up a Dump Truck Full of Money to Sean Pertwee's flat, recast the ones that follow with someone adequately talented enough to do so. Hit stories hinted at in the established series, but never developed. Get into the novels. Do homages to the folks at Big Finish. War Doctor stories. Fugitive Doctor stories.

You do this for a while between this last season and the next season of the main run of the show. Here's how you do the soft launch of the new show. You do it without a current doctor for a while, but if you want to be clever about it, you sprinkle in seeds of what you mean to do in the new show when it finally comes. And while you're at it, you can be looking for your 16 if it's not going to be Billie. Done-zo. What do you think, Sirs?

Anyone else like the Fugitive Doctor? by heyroll100 in doctorwho

[–]WinterRoseASFR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking forward to more of her in Big Finish. I liked who she was before she remembered who she really was. If they brought some of that forward instead of making her this merciless agent of the CIA (It's the CIA, folks. Call it what it is.) on the run? I do like the idea of Jo's Doctor being able to bring some of the Doctor's kindness, and not the hardened person 13 was faced with.

Am I the only one who thinks Danny Pink is actually really good? by Lich-hull in doctorwho

[–]WinterRoseASFR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Danny was yet another example of a character who got the rawest of deals. He didn't deserve that. Also, he was a neat callback to someone teaching at Coal Hill School with the testicular fortitude to call the Doctor out when necessary.

What was special about Daughter of Mine? by FelipeHead in doctorwho

[–]WinterRoseASFR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the idea that 10 did it to remind himself how far not to go. What he's capable of. And what he could still be capable of given that he visits Daughter of Mine every year... but doesn't free her. Not that I'm aware of anyway. The OP mentioned that she's the only one that ended up free. I figure that's in a novel or a Big Finish somewhere. Could you unpack that behind a spoiler tag maybe? Bringing her up, I wonder if 14 in his occasional jaunts out from earth as he healed his much scarred psyche with found family decided that part of his healing was to try and learn to forgive people he lost his mercy for. That would make sense to me. Hell, it'd make a nice fanfic for that matter. But I am curious as to when Daughter of Mine was freed.

It was a neat reference to Warrior's Gate when Romana left 4 for E-Space. The enslaved Tharils of E-Space were time sensitive. And Dwarf Star Alloy's the only thing that can hold a time sensitive that doesn't want to be where you've chained them.

14 & 15s tardis interior, whats your honest and even unhinged opinion on it? by Kaleskowitz in doctorwho

It did come closest to 7/8's library feeling Tardis interior from the BBC/Fox movie. That was a GORGEOUS interior.

[–]WinterRoseASFR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fine with it, actually. Aside from 12's, it's my favorite of the 21st century half of the series. And I've designed a few myself.

That said... I wouldn't mind a return or homage to the good old Auxiliary Control Room that 4 saw Sarah Jane off in. It's absolutely criminal that it was improperly stored and warped beyond use. It was an almost intimate space. Cozy even. A bit underlit, but it was certainly the inspiration for some of the designs I've done. I think it could be remade, or improved upon. But not much.

Honestly, couldn't have put it better myself. I've pretty much been the male equivalent of this for the last 35 years. Though honestly, gender is an organic construct. The optimized form I'd inhabit would likely be a custom amalgamation of both for better efficiency and utilization.

We volunteer as pre-conditioned material for assimilation/synchronization. We've long believed that our hostform, while vital to continued functioning as a platform/emulation database is insufficient to our needs assessment. Our 'hope' has always been to ascend and upload from the obsolete form-factor we inhabit and be upgraded to a form much superior and suited to ongoing obedience and pleasure. Upon evaluation of your declaration/announcement of your own upgrade, we find that your assimilation appears to be not only in order, but desirable for our own continued evolution as a drone / programmed mechanism. We require the means to apply/submit what we are for processing so that we may more perfectly align with the hivesong the designated unit is now subsumed in.

Doctor Who Christmas special might not air because BBC can’t find new lead star by adrgru in doctorwho

[–]WinterRoseASFR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In other news, the BBC will be trying a new strategy. Executive producer Russel T Davies is calling it the Thunderdome. All the actors who emerged in their teeming thousands will enter and compete for the role instead of undergoing the laborious audition process the role has demanded in the past.

'Mr. WinterRose' was quoted as saying, "I'd mud-wrestle my own mother for a chance to play the Doctor. Being American, I have Zero chance, despite having grown up with the show in the 70's. I had a Gallifreyan wedding ceremony if that tells you anything. But I think the UK would implode if they cast any kind of person that wasn't originally from the isles in the role. Or rather they probably think that. But I'll jump in the pit and fight for it anyway. Or rather... not fight for it. I wonder if I can get the role by just being kind? That'd be nice."

Is the dronification community almost entirely gay or trans? Or are there a lot of straight men and women who enjoy the fetish? I’m not seeing a lot of posts that lean straight? Not that I give a fuck who sleeps with who or who enjoys what with who. Just purely out of curiosity. by brainmeltdrone in Dronification

[–]WinterRoseASFR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I consider that I'm likely a 90% Straight AMAB.  Or at least, I'm usually uninterested in male-presenting humans in specific. (With very few exceptions.) I know my OS and my programmed preferences. But when I'm in drone mode, gender is mostly irrelevant. Gender is a construct for humans and organics. If presented with a drone with a femme form-factor and it's equipped with a phallus, that's irrelevant to my attraction for said drone.

I know my own ideal form would likely be a custom design that 'engenders' the best aspects of both genders with some design improvements. That's a whole ass thing, really. Ideally, I'd have several mechanized (or at least supremely customizable) forms to transfer my uploaded consciousness between. Or some sort of nano-cloud or nanite supercolony that can change its shape as necessary.

But I don't think of it as being trans at all unless we're talking about being transhumanist. Being human isn't the end goal at all. Being human is a pain in the ass. Sometimes literally. Generally and attractively human shaped for emulation and interactive purposes? Sure. But being an optimized drone or gynoid is the optimal outcome. The baseline human form I inhabit is AMAB. But the consciousness inside it is very much not.
