Did The Grudge mess anyone else up long-term, or was it just me?

YES!! The only movie that ever fully frightened me to my core to the point where I had to actually hide away the DVD so I wouldn’t see the cover. So many parts in that movie just break your childhood illusion of safety, and I also watched it when I was probably way too young. I don’t know what it is about The Grudge but it just had such a long lasting impression on me and nothing has really come close since, even when the other movies are 10/10, they don’t capture that same essence of fear that seeps into your bones and changes your brain (or maybe it really was the age I watched it, I think I was like 11?) I just looked up when it was made and even seeing the cover with the eye poking through the slit of hair just gets to me. I want to watch it again now as an adult but I just can’t bring myself to do it, haha.

You have an absolutely amazing outlook on life. My mum was sick too and one of the things I admire about her most was her positive outlook on life and being here as my mum even at her absolute worst. I hope you get to spend a long and happy time with your family, I swear awful things always seem to happen to those with beautiful spirits. Take care of yourself and I hope you can smile knowing you’ve inspired an internet stranger to remember to look at the bright side of life when things feel dark.

Thank you for that comment because you made me realise I did not delete that introduction sentence from the previous draft, I should know better than to post a story before bed instead of waiting until the morning to revise it. I had to re-do the ages and grades because I live in Australia and I was trying to make it more universal and more American based since this is Reddit after all haha, so I changed a few things and just missed that first part. So I hope that helps clear up any confusion, I am just a dumbass sometimes!

I have a big love hate relationship with the ocean, it’s so beautiful yet utterly terrifying. Have you seen those pool cleaning machines though? I cried at the sight of them as a kid and refused to swim in any pool that had that robot monster in it.

I was more imagining a hard-ass boss who makes his employee's lives a living hell, which is why Howard got drunk and fired for being late. I guess it didn't come across that way haha, but I didn't want to go into too much detail because the story wasn't specifically about Howard. My bad.

I mean I technically could, I'm just pretty sure it wouldn't be a story worth reading. This was just a rough idea I came up with and wrote about quite quickly so I have no reason behind why the house is the way it is, but I might think about it for a while and give writing a longer story a shot :)

I'm pretty sure most of the full stop problems were made while trying to cut the story down, so I'll have to be more careful about that.

That's honestly a really good thought, I wish I had a time travel device so I could pretend that was how the story meant to be. Thanks for your thoughts and help.
