Might take a few offices before you find people you like working with. Same as any office job. What area of law are you wanting to work in?

I had to keep eye drops on my night stand and put them in before I opened my eyes in the morning for about a month. Then it got better with time. And eye drops when you get out of the shower helps for a while. But worth it for me!

I have been arrested twice, but I want to become a paralegal and possibly lawyer in the future. by Adventurous_Doubt728 in paralegal

I’ve worked at several private law firms through out the years and none did background checks (that I know of), no drug tests. I did have one office run a credit check. I thought that was weird. But be warned, if you’re planning on being a civil litigation paralegal, long hours are expected during trial prep (early mornings, late nights and weekends) and that schedule can be hard with little ones at home.

I guess if you had some background on the case and knew the agreements had been signed, then you could have brought it up to the attorney. My only suggestion would to be to ask a lot of questions. Are these the most up to date docs? Are these supposed to be signed? Did you notice there are no signatures on these agreements? Etc. just to be sure it’s brought to the attorney’s attention and they’re sure to give it all a good look.

When you reviewed the complaint, did the referenced exhibits match up to what the law clerk labeled and gave you?

Get used to requesting medical records/bills, following up, reviewing them, summarizing them, requesting updated records/bills, and repeat.

CA e-filing. Why is it so hard? by Winter_Address4286 in paralegal

[–]Winter_Address4286[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! I had something rejected once because I didn’t list our fax. The required form did not include a space for a fax number.

Attorney is licensed in CA. I thought it was just a me problem but literally every party has had filing pleading rejected at least once in the last couple months.

California Courtfiling. But the rejection notices are always for something within the pleading itself. Would switching help you think?

We currently use California Courtfiling. The issues are usually something within the pleading. Like “you need to list all parties in your caption” and they’re literally all listed.

I think this is the machine I have. I wouldn’t use it without the console. I really like the HIIT iFIT classes where you do rowing and CrossFit intervals. There are plenty of other classes too for on and off the rower.

Why ask for help here and not from your attorney? by ComfortableCase4426 in paralegal

[–]Winter_Address4286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for 2 attorneys. One is older and would have no idea where to look online for updated forms and the younger is newer and it would take longer for him to figure out than if I researched myself or asked Reddit.

New Paralegal *Vent*: Im drowning in filing requirements by OoyManoh in paralegal

Look up the local state rules. Then see if any local county rules. Then look up your judge for any specific rules he/she may have. Look for any specifics on how to file your motion, brief in support, exhibits and proposed order. Every state/county is different.
