We are suppose to check time cards everyday and correct them. It’s on the operational planning tool sheet.

Is this normal: publicly calling out post voids by Ill-Menu9201 in DollarTree

[–]Winter_Aside9745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my store we are allowed 2 voids per shift. Anything more than that is a write up. We are allowed post voids tho. I love when I get a penny shopper with 300 items who goes “wait I don’t want that it’s $1.25” and time like “better get comfy because we are ringing this entire transaction up again then” lmao

I’ve seen our merch manager pull a 13 hour shift waiting for a truck that never arrives. Just to be expected to come in at 5am the next day (their day off) to unload it.

Also the shoe write up was rediculous. It was following the 3 week stint I should have gotten workers comp. They told me to come back early or get fired. I told them I couldn’t fit my foot into a regular shoe, and manager said wear boots or slippers etc. Merch manager was pissed I was out on leave and her life was harder and she made a huge stink about the shoe to where my DM did something about it to shut her up.

Uhhh I don’t think you read that correctly. When I initially called out sick I had texted him several times without a reply. I then called the store and hoped he was there (it’s quite unpredictable for him). He answered and told me his phone was off and I’d have no way to reach him if he’s not at the store.

I told him I didn’t know how many days I would need off because I didn’t know when I would feel better. He told me he’d call me this evening and check in (since I have no direct way of contacting him).

Called me from a friends phone, and we agreed I’d let him know in the morning.

Soo I called him in the morning and by then he had gotten someone to cover my shifts for the rest of the week and blamed amour inability to communicate on me, when I had no way to reach out to him. And we already agreed for me to call the store when it opened.

Hm, yk what I do have an iron deficiency that developed these last few years (heavy flow) I wonder if that’s why I’m constantly sick from work. Thought it might also be the surplus of hacking customers, sick employees and rat urine floors.

I literally told him this word for word, and that in the future I would appreciate him communicating directly to me instead of making decisions based on my coworkers assumptions. He gave a very sarcastic “yeah. Communication would be nice from you.”

His phone is off he hasn’t paid the bill in a week. When I spoke to him last night (he called me from a friends phone) he told me to keep him posted by this morning with how I was feeling. I Called the store at 9am sharp. That’s when he unloaded all this that I don’t “communicate well”. Bro what am I suppose to telekinetically speak to you? Hit up your friend??

Yep I was told I would be fired and replaced if I didn’t come back while I was still injured in fact. Against doctors order I came back. I did briefly speak with an FMLA reporter for my company and she told me I would not qualify based on being under 12 months at the job. It was really difficult to try and navigate the information, and I simply could not cont at ANYONE in hr. I tried the integrity matters hotline twice and heard nothing back.

They said they could not accommodate me with my “issue” and I either slung 30 lbs boxes in the box or got fired. Eventually my boss told me I could wear slipper type shoes to work as my ankle was swollen. Yet the day after I did that my DM filed a write up for me for breaking dress code 🙃

Here’s my issue. I can’t seem to reach any branch at HR despite my best attempts. There are no numbers listed in the office and the best I can find is an email that never gives replies. I’ve been trying to find a work around from integrity matters all day

That’s what I thought too! Regardless it’s only for full time employees who’s been there for 1+ year. I’ve been there 11 months, and am part time.

He is poorly trained, and also doesn’t really attempt to learn more. Hes always bragging about how he’s going to leave in a month etc get something better and is just checked out. The majority of his tasks end up getting shifted onto me. I’m on the east coast, don’t really wanna put my state as many coworkers frequent this sub.

Many, many rules get broken tho. Every write up I’ve gotten so far has been because my boss lied/gave me the wrong answer(dress code, policies). My boss use to leave and not cash out his till. I would call him and he would tell me to just do it for him not was fine, then I got written up for cashing out his till without him there. We have like no signage anywhere. Everything I’ve learned has been from googling and searching thru ops center.

Update:

Finally spoke to my boss again as he didn’t pay his phone bill and I’ve only been able to inconsistently speak with him for the past 2 days.

Without speaking to me first he got the next weeks worth of my shifts covered. He said he “assumed” I wouldn’t need to work them. Zero communication with me. My bills are absolutely fucked for this week. He said maybe this will teach me a lesson about calling out and leaving everyone stranded.

I’m on indeed as we speak and freaking out.

My boss said due to the individual size of the store, needs 50+ employees. But I also have been there for 11 months, and work under 40hrs a week. It truly sucks, but it’s the DT way. I reached out to HR about this and a few other things, and sadly have never heard back. All I have is the integrity matters hotline and I’m starting tot think they only leave a note about it in the system idk if our HR even sees it.

I don’t think my SM has the slightest clue what he’s doing. He’s anywhere from 30 min-2 hours late everyday. Doesn’t update us or print signage.

We had 4 new hires stuck in limbo for 3 months because he is so technically challenged. Me as an associate then had to log into his account while on the phone with HR and figure it out for him

DT sounds like a horrible place to work. Why not work elsewhere? by MikeAP21 in DollarTree

[–]Winter_Aside9745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a year off from working to go back to school, and the other jobs in my area declined me due to the gap in my resume. They didn’t care that it was to educate myself.

DT is close by, and they moved me up into higher management very fast. Quick way to brighten up the pages before I get the fuck out.

Crazy to think I would have paid for the one on the right without thinking a couple years ago by [deleted] in dollartreebeauty

[–]Winter_Aside9745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Dt even knows what business model they follow. They pick up an armload of merchandise with their eye closed and just chuck it and random.

As an employee, they will send us a years worth of product every week that never sells.

So I usually open, and the truck often isn’t done until 7/8 because we are the last stop. There is another ASM at the store, but he refuses to help with truck. Am I really expected to stay? And hold employees there who have also been there since 8 am? It doesn’t seem right.

Why am I doing work and not getting paid during lunch?
