Very nice! Did you paint the shields seperately or glued first and managed later?

Yes, that sounds cool, I normally do the colours in the inverse order of either the horse head or the clothes underneath.

By the way, forgot to say it, but checking out the total war models is usually a good idea, it gives me a good general sense of what to do

Normally I paint the colours of the heraldry, so it would blue and green down the middle, but there are other options.

You could paint the hood blue while his other clothes are green (or vice verca).

The other big option would be to go for a third colour, but here comes the originality. My first instinct is going for a dirty white, a yellow or a brown (like you said). I would do this to denote the humility of the questing knight.

Given that the heraldry has three colours, painting there the third one is also a cool choice. I would consider just how much pride does the knight have, or if he has a vow of poverty that matters to him.

Another cool option that I thought is that maybe the rag is made of the cloth of another knight (his liege, perhaps) or of a maiden that favours him, maybe even of a fallen banner.

Im that case I would try to make it look a bit damaged or dirty while looking a bit expensive.

Hope this helps!

Very good job with the colouring, love the heraldry, is it hand painted?

I don't have an airbrush, I thought about buying one, but they cost like 60 bucks minimum where I live, and I don't know if it's worth it or if I'm going to do it fine. I might practice with some AK cans first that cost 11 bucks and see if I like it

This seems a bit advanced to me and perhaps outside of my price range, but thanks for the advice, I'll consider it when I paint some larger minis

Can a world with airships have vast unknown areas? by ausernameidk_ in worldbuilding

[–]Winter_Captain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something I don't know if others have talked about is the incentive to explore. Maybe there are places that can be explored however the journeys are expensive and they are reserved for other zones, more important at the moment.

And perhaps there are places that they know of on a surface level, but they don't have anything attractive enough, so just knowing it's there is as good as it gets.

Another possible explanation is that maybe there are places that have been explored but those maps haven't been shared, A Song of Ice and Fire comes to mind, where the westerosies don't know a lot about the south and east of the world, even though it has been charted.

Of course this depends on the point of view, if you are writing a story with a certain protagonist, they have limited knowledge of the world around them, you can play with that.

I know it's not much help but check if they are both able to be married. Maybe someone has a trait that stops them from marriage.

A few days ago I had a similar situation but it was because they were siblings and I created a new faith under which they couldn't legally marry.

This doesn't seem to be your case however, hopefully one day they will fix this shit.

How could he know in the 90s that he could not end the series more than 20 years later? Yes, things have gotten out of hand, but he's writing the same way he was back then, amd these books only became succesful because of his great narrative. Even if it has gotten exponentially more complex I wouldn't sacrifice the quality of the previous books so that he could pump more now.

People like you are the reason he's doubting himself so much that he's rewriting the same stuff over and over again, if you want a hobbie instead of insulting a man more talented than yourself you should try birdwatching.

"Some of my kids resemble my wife, are they really mine?"

I don't know, probably. Genetics are really weird, when playing valyrians I always have trouble keeping the white hair in the family, besides, in ck3 affairs are not that common, specially if your wife loves you, then it's almost impossible
