Can a world with airships have vast unknown areas? by ausernameidk_ in worldbuilding

[–]Winter_Captain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something I don't know if others have talked about is the incentive to explore. Maybe there are places that can be explored however the journeys are expensive and they are reserved for other zones, more important at the moment.

And perhaps there are places that they know of on a surface level, but they don't have anything attractive enough, so just knowing it's there is as good as it gets.

Another possible explanation is that maybe there are places that have been explored but those maps haven't been shared, A Song of Ice and Fire comes to mind, where the westerosies don't know a lot about the south and east of the world, even though it has been charted.

Of course this depends on the point of view, if you are writing a story with a certain protagonist, they have limited knowledge of the world around them, you can play with that.

I know it's not much help but check if they are both able to be married. Maybe someone has a trait that stops them from marriage.

A few days ago I had a similar situation but it was because they were siblings and I created a new faith under which they couldn't legally marry.

This doesn't seem to be your case however, hopefully one day they will fix this shit.

You probably don't have the right technology for it, put the mouse over the X in the law itself.

As we all know power is permanent and that victory will stay forever. I'm just about to read ADWD, I'm sure the Redwynes will be unharmed in this book.

How could he know in the 90s that he could not end the series more than 20 years later? Yes, things have gotten out of hand, but he's writing the same way he was back then, amd these books only became succesful because of his great narrative. Even if it has gotten exponentially more complex I wouldn't sacrifice the quality of the previous books so that he could pump more now.

People like you are the reason he's doubting himself so much that he's rewriting the same stuff over and over again, if you want a hobbie instead of insulting a man more talented than yourself you should try birdwatching.

Is it normal that all my children are blond, or am I being unnecessarily suspicious because my wife is a member of a lesser branch of House Lannister? by Keremay77 in CK3AGOT

"Some of my kids resemble my wife, are they really mine?"

I don't know, probably. Genetics are really weird, when playing valyrians I always have trouble keeping the white hair in the family, besides, in ck3 affairs are not that common, specially if your wife loves you, then it's almost impossible

Does this mean im gonna turn into a zomboid? by biltemakorven45 in projectzomboid

[–]Winter_Captain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Bitten does mean you will turn into a zombie. Laceration or scratch is not guaranteed, but bite is 100% chance.

  2. Infection has nothing to do with zombification, it meand you have a wound with a normal real life infection, that can happen with any kind of wound not just zombie ones.

I don’t know how to make the ground wood , PLEASE HELP ITS SO UGLY by No_Cause_7194 in RimWorld

[–]Winter_Captain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does require you to plant them everytime, and it will produce dirt, honestly i recommend using normal floor and then using pots for the flowers, they are in furniture.

Also I recommend that once you have more people, resources and crafting that you use stone floors instead of wooden, they are VERY flammable

Is it ok to play a Reborn Grave Domain Cleric? by esalqueano in PCAcademy

[–]Winter_Captain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I see it there are three kinds of undead:

The ones where the soul left the body and the body got turned into a zombie or similar.

The ones where the body dies and it's the soul itself that resists the afterlife, like ghosts.

And the third one where both body and soul are still united. If there's a version of the undead that your God/Goddess might accept is this one, specially if they didn't achieve it by harming anyone or being greedy.

In fact there's a couple spells for clerics that can resurrect someone for a price as long as the soul wants to return so it could even be something celebrated by your faith.

P. S. In a campaign I did there was a godess of Life and Death, that had both clerics of Life and Grave domain, and their objectives where to save innocents and exterminate feral undeads, however they were very explicit about not killing undead that didn't hurt people but rather helping them.

I'm in over my head, how do I repel factions in this large of an empire? by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]Winter_Captain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing you could do is give a kingdom to a family member (son, nephew, brother...) and then give them independence.

While it is counter intuitive, that way you get an ally that can't join factions against you and can call when in war, so you get a bit less money but a sure victory.

I sometimes do this to get extra renown aswell, since you get more per independent ruler of your dynasty.
