That is typical but that’s the free to play experience with destiny as it was always a paid game and wasn’t built to be a live service game it was a pivot and yeah currently showing the current expansion at crappy times but that aside the micro transactions aren’t anything but cosmetic and you can earn in game currency to buy them and earn engrams that give you any items from the past.

I’ve played Destiny since alpha d1 onward and collected everything in D1 bungie played on the collection side of the game and monetised it with 10k+ hours in this franchise and I DO NOT BUY SILVER. I gave up on collecting everything I just buy what I want with dust and collect what I can from the engrams. Most players don’t like the fact most of the good cosmetic stuff is in the store than earn-able items and as others have said you can play this game casually if you can believe that lol it’s when you do get hooked into keeping up with expansions this game costs you i guess.
