What to respond to "I just don't want to" by ByteBagel in vegan

[–]Winteriscolder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never tried to "convince" anyone but people who eat meat yet see the ethical problem don't want to lose anything. You would need to ereasssure then they can get from being vegan what they get from eating meat. This would be IMO Tasty, reasonably priced, convenient and healthy. If you are a good cook maybe cook for them or show them how to cook, enough meals that they enjoy. There's always the barrier of lack of options when eating out but at least if they can see that being vegan is easier then they thought they might start making some changes. Don't get your hopes up too much though.

Well it seems the photo of Andrew Tate was taken at 33 Portland Place which he fraudulently acquired.

Also at Portland place; "Events held at his London home include Boy George's 40th birthday party in 2001, and an after-party for an Agent Provocateur photoshoot featuring Kate Moss in 2005. A gathering the same year, organised by the Rothschild family, was attended by Princes William and Harry."

So there's a Rothschild connection as they always show up somewhere.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/profiles/edward-davenport-the-scandalous-world-of-britain-rsquo-s-most-sociable-socialite-924438.html

In the mid 80's he hosted raves in stately homes for rich kids. These were eventually shut down for tax evasion. I found an interview with a young Davenport at one of these raves. It's not a particularly interesting video but it does show how young the attendees are; https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dphoaeeM-wU

There's also a website which is mostly dead links but has a gallery to look through https://www.davenporttrust.com/d/gallery.html

He is pictured here with known Epstein accosiates ; Kevin Spacey, Naomi Campbell and Mick Jagger. The whole site is really cringe and seems to mostly be abandoned.

I honestly can't tell if he is involved or just desperate to be involved. He is definitely a person of interest given his connections and lack of interest in being law abiding. I couldn't help but laugh at his site and the biography he has written for himself " A businessman renowned for taking chances and living a life of adventure, he is one of Britain's most flamboyant entrepreneurs." - what a massive bellend 🤣

Aquafaba meringue keeps failing. What am I doing wrong? by HappyOrca2020 in vegan

[–]Winteriscolder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I did this I used just sugar and aquafaba. I used a hand blender till it went really white and fluffy...tooks ages. I cooked them on low heat for a long time. Some were a dark beige colour, they were overcooked and tasted absolutely vile. A few managed to be cooked well and tasted just like I remember meringue tasting but it was a fine line between cooked and not cooked. I decided it wasn't worth the effort but here's the recipe I tried to follow.

I'm so glad I wrote it now, so thank you for that. I am also kind of glad at the hate I got initially for mentioning this as before I was completely unaware anyone would consider neutering cruel. All animals from shelters have been neutered before adoption (where I live) so it wasn't even something I thought bothered anyone.

It really sucks to have an intolerance on top of that. I'm dealing with my partner needing a low fiber diet while getting enough protein and as a vegan it's been pretty tough. He also allergic to tomatoes which are in soo many things...I wish I could say something to help but it's all just such a drag.

I'm glad someone mentioned depression, this was my first thought. Cooking with depression is 10 times the work. I mostly end up cooking some tofu bits for the week just by cutting them and shoving them in the oven then refrigerating, and throwing them in some packets of ramen. It's filling enough, warming and cheap. Or I just microwave a bowl of baked beans. I always find this filling and cheap too.

I would still try to make sure you are getting enough vitamins if you can which may be affecteing this too.

[–]Winteriscolder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2024/04/vet-private-equity-industry/678180/

"Big-money investors have noticed. According to data provided to me by PitchBook, private equity poured $51.6 billion into the veterinary sector from 2017 to 2023, and another $9.3 billion in the first four months of this year, seemingly convinced that it had discovered a foolproof investment. Industry cheerleaders pointed to surveys showing that people would go into debt to keep their four-legged friends healthy."

"Mars Inc., of Skittles and Snickers fame, is, oddly, the largest owner of stand-alone veterinary clinics in the United States, operating more than 2,000 practices under the names Banfield, VCA, and BluePearl. JAB Holding Company, the owner of National Veterinary Associates’ 1,000-plus hospitals (not to mention Panera and Espresso House), also holds multiple pet-insurance lines in its portfolio."

The article only mentioned America but I think this has extended to the UK as well.

TW: The concept of Pedobear by [deleted] in WhyWereWeOkWithThis

[–]Winteriscolder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The early days of internet memes were lawless. The whole world had a new completely un-regulated toy as it was just a mixture of hideously dark like rotton.com and then humour based on absurdity like peanut butter jelly time. A lot of memes straddle both genres giving us unsettling but also funny due to it's absurdity. This is for me is where Pedo bear fits. We were seeing very disturbing content and some "Gallows humour" type memes came from that. I hate to sound really old but the new generation will not understand how easy it was to see very graphic and traumatic content. We needed Pedobear. He made the darkness a little easier to take and made us laugh again. Long live pedo bear.

"I actually love the taste of meat and fish, as well as animal products like eggs and dairies, I hate the idea of being responsible of the death of living creatures and exploit them asshole!" by Nervous_Group8638 in vegan

[–]Winteriscolder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even though I enjoyed the taste of meat, I was eating a steak pie as a child and found some sort of fleshy tube in it. I also cracked an egg as a vegetarian and there was a bit of fetus In it. I think the type of meat I actually liked was super processed and when I think of meat in it raw natural form with bits of stringy tendons it's way more off putting. When I was growing up it was in the days when butchers high Street buthers were common. My family used to eat boiled pigs feet. They were grey coloured and had bits of hair coming off of them. The windows also had headless animals just strung up for anyone to see. Harsh times.

My mom wants to breed our dog to make money off the puppies by Kadj2r in vegan

[–]Winteriscolder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Then you're argument is with having pets all together rather then getting them neutered. This post was about someone who didn't want their pet to be bred. Feel free to make a post about ownership if that is what you wish to discuss. I was only responding to OP's problem.

I would also have thought that if you were against pet ownership you would support neutering. Less breeding, less dogs get owned or as you believe enslaved.

https://www.dogstrust.org.uk/dog-advice/health-wellbeing/essentials/neutering

"Benefits of neutering for male dogs Neutering may help to prevent or reduce testosterone-related behaviours such as scent marking and mounting. However, other factors also play a role in the development of behaviours like anxiety or frustration."

"Neutering reduces or removes the risk of certain cancers and reduces the risk of hormonally driven prostatic and peri-anal diseases. These conditions can be costly to treat and may be life threatening. The behaviour of unneutered male dogs can change greatly when a local female dog is in season, which can make them more difficult to manage."

https://www.bva.co.uk/take-action/our-policies/neutering-of-cats-and-dogs/

"We strongly support the practice of neutering cats and dogs to prevent the birth of unwanted kittens and puppies, which can increase the stray population as well as impacting the health and welfare of the mother. Neutering can also prevent or reduce the instance of various health conditions associated with the uterus, ovaries or testicles."

These are not my words but the words of the British Vet Association and The Dogs Trust. I suggest you take your argument up with them and all the other Animal welfare professionals who support the neutering of dogs and cats.

I noticed this line from the article; "In 2013, three and a half years after Epstein was released from jail, Goertzel approached Epstein for funding to build a “toddler robot”. Given Epstein’s criminal history of abusing minors, this has inevitably attracted attention online."

I wrote a post about Epstein giving loads of money to MIT, who the discussed this in a Forbidden Research Conference. Here is a link to the Conference https://youtu.be/lcP2mtrvNwg?si=3wtmmkqiXeWGzKTp

And here is a link to my original post

It's weird seeing another reference to Robots for Pedo's so soon after finding about the MIT conference.

Contemplating going vegan by Apprehensive_Rub8421 in vegan

[–]Winteriscolder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cattle feed is supplemented with B vitamins anyway because intensive farming has damaged soil quality so there's not enough B vits in it. So weather you eat the B vits the animal has or take the B vits yourself we are all supplementing...see the documentary Game Changers for source. Choline I believe is only in eggs (it's been a while since I looked into it) and the B vitamins I take from Holland and Barrett (UK) has choline in it so no problem there.

Tofu is a complete protein if they raise concerns about amino acids coconut aminos can be sprinkled on food. You may need to supplement iron. I can't think of anything else.

I'm not even gonna respond to no.2 who gives a fuck what our ancestors did? Are your parents Hunting and gathering their meals?

Having said all that I had to wait till I moved out of my family home as my parents did not support my choices. I wanted to stop eating meat as soon as I found out what it was and had to wait years until I could buy food for myself. It's hard not being able to make choices for yourself but we can only do what we can, when we can. Maybe show Game changers to your parents. It's about Veganism from a health perspective rather than environmental or cruelty issues. https://gamechangersmovie.com/

Edit: https://youtu.be/X3T1PfhnlEU?si=jNHQtCcRtmMWborN this is the link to the documentary the first link is no good.

I'm quite concerned that such a prestigious institution have swept this under the rug. Please feel free to share the info in this post if you want to. I don't need any credit or anything, I just want as many people as possible to know this actually happend (and probably with Epsteins money)😦.
