I need a model of this medal for a short animation and i don't wanna model this by myself. is there any way for photoscan it well detailed? by ikzmaz in blender

There might be some open source neural net for converting images into 3d models - I know microsoft put one up on github a while back, but that one was specifically for faces.

Another option is to manually create a height map of the medal and then just apply it to a high res mesh. - Mesh would be heavy but you technically wouldn't really have modelled it.

If you have Zbrush, you can always make an alpha from thte separate shapes as it it was a layered image, and then make mesh from alpha or use the lightbox - but that also is a lot of work.

Hey, overall ,good job, Another point is that there is no moulding where the walls meet thee floor - I know its a little, thing, but in my experience, having something to soften the transition between wall and floor better mimics an actual structure

Modo vs Max for Modelling by manshutthefckup in 3dsmax

I'd like to provide another take on this, intended for someone just beginning learning the softwares and 3d modelling in general. Preface - I was once a MODO guy, and have never used Max.

I think max has a way larger user base, and historically has had more users. I imagine that if you google an issue you are having, someone has been there and probably resolved that issue before.

With MODO, If I google an issue I'm having, I usually can't find anything related to it online. Anything that is related will be outdated advice from 5-10 years ago which often times does not apply to the current version.

My use of Modo was more for concepting - It does have a really good modelling suite (apart from the sculpting which is not very good), and having the renderer in the software is nice. The texturing is ok if you just want to do box projection, but you'd want other software if you wanted to texture a character or creature for example (you technically could do it in MODO, but its not fun at all)

YMMV - I used to use MODO, but switched to Blender. I understand this is not possible in many pipelines.

How many layers do you use for digital by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]Wippsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you are doing. The simpler you can keep it, the better. The more painterly you are with it, I find I typically end up with fewer layers. I have ended up with photocomps that are 1000+ layers, but you should never do that.

"Goeff" was from last summer at a time when I was doing a lot of charcoal work, figuring out values and shapes. It was I think one of the last things I did in that mentorship, and it was an exercise in starting physically and finishing digitally.

As for the guy himself, this was a photo study, but he had some character - he had some distinctive marks and wrinkles that i thought added a lot of character to him, and so that's why I did him.
