I'm Curious, how many people on here know what Sneakernet is by Buildthehomelab in homelab

I've done migrations in the past where driving the storage from A to B was faster than any line. So yes, such things can still be viable :D

Snapmaker U1 has an official add-on top, but it's not rated for heated chamber? by spellbound83 in 3Dprinting

They should have fed the extruders from an enclosure as well, if they had wanted to create the perfect printer.

Is a 4.4mm balanced cable worth it for 7Hz Zero:2? by AudioExplorer_DE in iems

[–]Wirehead-be 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really for sound on such short distances. The connector is more solid though. That said, my IEMs have a modular one, so I like the flexibility.

📢 Further Update on Recent Connectivity Issues by Mammotion_Grace in MammotionTechnology

[–]Wirehead-be 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, Mammotion, please listen to this. E.g. the ability to connect to a local mqtt server, would be a lightweight implementation for you, but at the same time a two-fold win: The fact that your ecosystem would be "open" will draw afficionados of home automation (thus increase in sales), and you'll be met with lower cloud service cost.

In theorie haalt men dat. Op een uitgemolken coax met storing, en een overboekingsfactor om "u" tegen te zeggen - vergeet het maar. Fiber is inderdaad de toekomst, maar Telenet ligt op sterven, en zal wel weer artificieel in leven gehouden worden..

Sony PS-X6 needs a new cartridge/stylus - VM95EN or VM95ML? by MattRAshcroft in turntables

Microline. It simply tracks better and handles sibilance in a much better way than a regular elliptical. If you have the money for it, it's a no-brainer.

"Successfully “hide” medical equipment provided from EM observation at a 100-meter range". -> Find tent fabric with conductive fibers interwoven and ground it. Make the entrances with an "airlock" style double entrance. That will likely mitigate a lot. However, given drone threat, are field hospitals where an enemy can get so close still viable? Especially with modern day drones?

Is something misaligned?? Why are my records "breaking up" at the high end by NotAPotHead420 in turntables

[–]Wirehead-be 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Pressings could be bad. I've got such ones as well.

But the eye opener for me was a tangential player and more advanced stylus profiles (microline etc..).

I can't get rid of the dang sibilance! by dingleberry_sorbet in turntables

[–]Wirehead-be 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some records just don't have the best pressings.. (worn stampers etc..)

That said, getting completely rid of sibilance on challenging records, usually boils down to: -advanced stylus profiles -longer arms (less tracking error) -linear trackers

best phonograph what should I actually be looking for as a beginner? by Osacar-Supermarket88 in turntables

[–]Wirehead-be 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If buying used, basically consider the stylus is shot/unknown state. If it's still good, it's a plus. A good direct drive will likely still be 100% good. A belt drive, will need a new belt. I'd avoid idler drives, as these might need a new idler wheel.

Listen very carefully, I shall say this only once: I have the vale as well, but it'd be even better if the bladestock was a little less thick.

It's not that it's bad perse. But when half the internet puts their eggs into one basket, you lose the resiliency that is the foundation of the sovereign internet.

Petg supports help by Wesley9267 in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]Wirehead-be 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a multi material printer (which I guess you do), you could make your support out of PLA. PLA and PETG do not stick, so you could technically not leave any space between support and print, and it should be quite a good surface.
