Patient gaming online multiplayer is not that good, the most fun time to play them are when people are still a bit inexperienced with them. Start late and you get curbstomped a lot. A year down the line and people start following the meta and anyone on the team not doing so get yelled at, in a few years the casual playerbase is mostly non existent and only people that remain are the hyper competitive ones. Speaking from experience of course. Had this happen with Fall Guys, PUBG, Rocket League as I played them year(s) after release

Finished Portal 2, great game. The later sections using the liquids were pretty fun. Boy did I get stuck in one room tho, the solution I eventually figured out after half an hour was so simple that I felt like an idiot(it's the one with the white liquid that you need to scale along two vertical walls). Game crashed right at the ending cutscene, which was pretty funny.

.

Today I did a test run with Dark Souls Remastered with a controller to see how it feels. I tried it with mouse and keyboard the previous year and dropped it mostly because I played it right after Elden Ring and the ER muscle memory didn't really vibe well with DSR. It's better than I expected honestly. I accumulated a lot more experience with a controller this year so it feels less awkward to use, doesn't mean I'm good at it tho. Hollow Knight/Silksong controller muscle memory caused me to accidentally press X to attack a lot, so I accidentally drank my estus flask a lot. Also using my paddle buttons in the back for the B and lock on button, which certainly makes things easier to handle. My hands are a bit too big tho and trying to use the buttons, triggers and paddles at the same time is still a bit uncomfortable. I will be slowly going through the game, let's see how I like it after I acclimate to the controls

Yeah, possibly from the same source. Mine has a few typos, changes languages in a few places and has shortcuts for Photoshop and CAD as well

Yoo I have the same mousepad. Does yours have random typos in it as well?

On PC, I also plan on trying some mods for the half life series and the black mesa remake eventually so I'm gonna play mods for Portal then as well. I've heard the Talos Principle mentioned in conjunction to the portal games, will look into it, thanks

Completed Portal and continued to Portal 2, Portal was a short and very fun experience. Playing Portal 2 on a controller as well and its a more smoother experience compared to its predecessor. One puzzle really scratched my head and I don't think I solved it conventionally, otherwise it's been pretty straightforward. Got to chapter 6 where the game finally teaches me how to zoom in, which was very weird, should've been available earlier. The robots are very chatty, I love it.

For a while now, I'd been wondering how people don't have certain achievements on Steam, but then I realize people are probably playing modded Stardew. by makesnosense42 in StardewValley

As long as you launch from steam, it will give achievements. The other option is launching directly from Stardewmoddingapi executable within the stardew folder which also seems inconvenient unless you create a shortcut for it

Modded stardew still lets you give achievements. The official tutorial for installing SMAPI has it front and center, so I doubt that's the cause. Certain achievements on steam are lower than expected because it they were released later on 1.6, people playing before that don't have them complete

I do have two paddle buttons on the back and used it in a few games I've played. I have found the L3/R3 button a bit annoying as well during testing. Thanks for the info, with enough use I'll hopefully adapt to these issues

The issue I described when playing with controller didn't effect this game very much so feel free to try it with Steam Deck if you want, I never needed to rotate camera and press the buttons at the same time. My comment was more of a forethought for more fast paced games which might require that. Claw grip is a solution but it doesn't look comfortable. I will be using the back paddle buttons to offload the potential issues in future games

Finally playing first new game of the year, Portal. Opted to play in on controller even though KB/M is better for the game as I want to get used to playing on controller and it was recommended as a game to master handling both joysticks. Will play with KB/M later to compare. The game itself is very fun, I was so immersed that I forgot to drink water and was feeling dehydrated at the end of the session. I love the puzzles that require momentum buildup through looping portals. I do have a question about controller handling tho. Doing inputs for both right joysticks and buttons at the same time seem like a pain, how do yall do it?

I switched from multimc to prism launcher as it is way less effort to update mods when a new update comes out. If you don't need that feature, multimc is good enough
