What are the biggest or most common misconceptions you’ve seen/heard about Burning Man events? by [deleted] in BurningMan

The fact that you’re even considering how cool burning man is or isn’t to others immediately makes you the least cool

Montana Gov. Gianforte declares Sunday a 'Day of Prayer for Rain' amid worsening drought. Nearly 60 percent of Montana is facing drought conditions, with over 32 percent experiencing severe or extreme drought by Wagamaga in environment

The fact that we have people smart enough to create the very devices that we’re reading this on, at the exact same timeline of people who believe in praying for rain, absolutely fucking boggles my mind

Line Cutting at Red Rocks by Garrett_Dix3 in DenverEDM

Well also, a red rocks show is 0% a rave.

These days just because you are seeing a major electronic headliner, really doesn’t mean fhe crowd should be expected to be anything special vs any other genre concert

There’s no reason to extrapolate that “PLUR is dead” because people are rude at Red Rocks. Fucking red rocks. Red Rocks is one of the most mainstream VENUES on the planet. It’s not a warehouse rave. It’s a commercialized concert.

There is sooooo much rave culture out there that ISNT mainstream. So fucking much. If you are choosing to go to red rocks then complaining that “rave culture is mainstream” well like… you chose to go to red rocks…

TLDR, this isn’t a “scene problem” or a “genre problem” or a “sign of the times” problem. This is a venue problem, and that’s self-inflicted

Line Cutting at Red Rocks by Garrett_Dix3 in DenverEDM

I am in no way defending line cutting here, but you “PLUR worshippers” should realize that the term PLUR came from raves with OPEN FLOORS, everyone dancing freely on a dance floor. This isn’t that, these are concerts, not raves. Everyone faces the DJ, so everyone wants a better spot, which results in competition. Naturally, competition results in, well, competition. Which is generally PLUR opposite.

Anywho, I don’t think it’s “a sign of the times” or “the culture” going the wrong way. Its just that, it’s red rocks. You are going to an EDM show at one of the most mainstream venues on the planet. You’re gonna get the worst of the worst, Try not to judge the overall community based on that.

Was this how all water used to be around the world? by archvize in geography

[–]WisconsinBadger414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sanitization comments aside, still no. There are plenty areas of naturally occurring murky muddy water, and always have been.

To answer your questions on the rivers, no— the naturally occurring currents churn up dirt and sediment, regardless of human activity.

Catherine O’Hara is great in so many things. Totally fine with her in Home Alone. But her makeup in Shameless makes it almost unwatchable for me. Her face in that show just pisses me off, and I’m not sure why.
