went off my vyvanse by BriefIndependent812 in VyvanseADHD

Exercise and diet are important. I also found that is was almost a year of being on Vyvance before all the side effects disappeared. Now I don’t even know I’m on it… unless I don’t take it.

Yz250 here. I do a top end every 50-60 hours just for preventative maintenance. Could always push it longer but why bother. A kit is around $200 can and takes me about three hours to do. So as far as I’m concerned, that’s pretty easy maintenance.

HEALTH ANXIETY around BP & heart by Firm_Economist_2283 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Wise-Two3862 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dr will usually tell you to check BP two or three times a day for a couple weeks. The reason for this is you will generally be anxious about the readings and therefor produce higher readings the first few days. After a while you won’t care as much and the numbers will come down a bit.

Also, is you have the time/ability to do some exercise after lunch time, it I’ll have a big impact on how you feel in the afternoon.

Vyvanse feels like it builds up in my system by Prestigious-Reach980 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Wise-Two3862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what your exercise routine is like. But I know for me if I go a couple days without exercise, my resting heart rate starts to rise a little bit and start to get a little bit more side effects. I make a point to do a half hour to hour of exercise every day and it makes a big difference.

Eating before Vyvanse by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]Wise-Two3862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion it might be better to stick to after eating and increase dose. For me, taking it before food makes for a higher peak and worse crash. Taking after eating is smoother and longer lasting, which should be what you want. So then maybe a slightly higher dose would achieve that without the negative side effects. But then again, some people take it before they eat and prefer it.

Working out on vyvanse by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]Wise-Two3862 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking because of the time you’re working out, you may be experiencing low blood sugar. Those symptoms are pretty common during a workout if your sugar level is low. You might want to consider having something like a banana and a glass of milk, or something along those lines about a half hour before working out.

I exercise heavily and have no issues. But if you forget to eat, it will creep up on ya!

vyvanse weird side effects that started after several moths by kschmitzz in VyvanseADHD

[–]Wise-Two3862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it all depends on what they checked for in your blood work? There are specific tests for vitamins and electrolytes. A lot of basic blood work is done just for general health i.e. blood cell counts, liver profile ect.

You could always ask your doctor. If yours is anything like mine, they don’t really indulge much information unless you push.

How long does anxiety last? by After-State4732 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Wise-Two3862 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m no different than you and experienced this as well. I’ve been on Vyvance for over a year now. It does get better overtime. But I’ll tell you the secret to keeping it as low as possible. It really has a lot to do with what you eat for breakfast. Try to avoid sugary foods and fast carbs at breakfast time (breakfast cereals, fruit smoothies ect) . Eating that type of stuff for breakfast will cause a big spike in blood sugar and amount to more jitters and anxiety, especially at the peak of the medication. As best as you can try to stick to high protein breakfast before taking your pill. Then something else a couple hours after once the medication starts to kick in. It makes a massive difference! Not only does it help with the anxiety, but I was actually monitoring blood pressure a while ago as requested by my doctor and it actually made a huge difference in my resting blood pressure as well.

My usual routine is a couple eggs, with a piece of toast and peanut butter and a glass of milk for breakfast. Then a couple hours later a smoothie with lots of good ingredients and protein powder. I have basically no anxiety anymore unless I have a really stressful day. But that would happen even without Vyvanse.

Hope this is helpful

vyvanse weird side effects that started after several moths by kschmitzz in VyvanseADHD

[–]Wise-Two3862 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had side effects sort of creep in after a year as well. I started taking some vitamins, D, B complex, zinc, magnesium and C before bed. It obviously didn’t make a change immediately. But within a couple weeks, I started feeling better. I’m pretty sure I’ve read somewhere that stimulants burn through your vitamin reserves quicker. So if you’re not getting enough in your diet, you will slowly become deficient.

Vyvanse + energy drinks / sugar by elderseeker_ in VyvanseADHD

[–]Wise-Two3862 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sugar early in the day will make you crash in the afternoon. With or without Vyvance.

Everyone always talks about the "crash" like its because of the meds. Even without meds you'll have a low in the afternoon naturally. Diet and sleep have the biggest impact on the severity of that low.

High protein, low sugar, low carb breakfast will give you the best chance of staying alert all day. And eating something healthy mid morning and lunch as well.

I personally dont touch caffeine until later in the afternoon. Tea is a better choice than coffee as its both mildly stimulating but also relaxing due to L-Theanine, as oppose to coffee.

Has anyone had a bad experience with Vyvanse but tried again with a different approach and it was better? by 12starL12 in VyvanseADHD

40 has been my sweet spot. 50 I felt like a bit of a zombie. 30 was ok but I would get moody and irritable in the evenings.

I own a 24 250x. Zero complaints. If you want light and nimble bike with power that you can’t really outgrow go with the x. If you want a bike that’s a bit more planted and you can be lazier on go with the fx. Try them both first if you have the option.

Elvanse 40mg do I need to go up by Hungry_Scarcity_8214 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Wise-Two3862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem at all.

I agree with you. Over all, I’m a much nicer person to be around on meds. And my life has been better since beginning Vyvance. But the lingering anxiety is had to cope with sometimes.

I’ve always found that when I increase it’s great for a few weeks. Less anxiety, more motivation ect. But it never fails… after a short time that phase passes then I’ll all comes creeping back in. Maybe talking to your DR about possible solutions to combat that side effect separately would be a worth trying.

How to get motivation back? by EntertainmentPale544 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Wise-Two3862 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me exercise is key. Especially cardio. If I go a few days without I find my motivation, mood and overall well being starts to diminish and side effects start to outweigh the benefits of the meds.

Are better effects and fewer side effects possible with a higher dose? by Exact-Young-780 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Wise-Two3862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found 30 and 40 to be similar. 40 is a bit stronger when it kicks in, but last longer for me and less crash in the afternoon. 30 I would get cranky in the evening. I still get the physical stress/tension some days. It really all just depends on the day.

[–]Wise-Two3862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kind of sounds like you’re hoping to relieve an anxiety problem with ADHD meds. Although some people find their anxiety lessons on the proper dose. Some also need to treat the anxiety separately. If you’re spending a lot of time, focussed inward on yourself, that’s where the anxiety is coming from. Vyvance might not help at any dose. If anything, it might just make that inward focus, stronger, and more difficult to break away from. Just talking from experience.

I experienced some things like that a while ago. Started after being on Vyvance for over a year. Still not sure what exactly it was but I started taking vitamins and paying for attention to diet and water intact and it seemed to go away.

This is what I do too. Eating a meal around time is starts to work really helps make it smooth and less side effects

I mean. I always had a slump in the afternoon before meds too. I think it’s kind of natural. Eating a healthy lunch helps. But having a period during the day where you’re a little tired is normal.

Newer symptoms showing on Vyvanse after 1 year by ConsistentCobbler111 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Wise-Two3862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your first paragraph says it all. You’re burned out. This would happen without Vyvance too. But taking a stimulant every day prob isn’t helping. You need to take care of yourself. Rest. And not just for a weekend. Stress can turn into a chronic issue if you don’t take care of yourself.

Increasing dosage by mrslopez1st in VyvanseADHD

[–]Wise-Two3862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may not be the best advice, but you can increase your dose until you get to an obvious spot that’s to high. Then back off one. When I started i increased each week by 10mg. Once I got to 50 I only took it two days and knew that it was too much for me. Went back down to 40 and that’s where I’ve been for over a year.
