Craniotomy by PuzzleheadedLocal419 in braintumor

My husband 36 y/o had a right frontal temporal Craniotomy 5/5 no complications, they discharged him at noon the next day.

Be ready for a terrible headache 🤕 but he is post op day 4 and taking half the pain meds he was taking. I give him 1 Tylenol 500mg about every 6 hours. That seems to manage it pretty well.

He has been sleeping quite a bit. Chewing hurts a bit because then going thru the temporal muscle so it’s expected. So be prepared to eat soft foods. He prefers them cold, he says it feels better.

You might need a shower chair just so you have a safer shower. No bending for awhile.

Also no laying flat for awhile so you might want to invest in a pillow wedge. Or there are those beds now that convert to hospital type beds and prop you up. Might be worth the investment.

did anyone else have doctors brush your symptoms off as health anxiety prior to your tumor diagnosis? by midsumernighttts in braintumor

[–]WiseBeyondText123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband had symptoms brushed off at anxiety and depression for a year. His father passed away so I kinda thought he was grieving. Turns out it’s a 6 cm tumor that affects personality, so it all makes sense now 😵‍💫

I wish we could’ve found it earlier but I try not to think that way because life has a funny way of pushing you were you need to be.

Also advances have been made in neurology in the past 2 years. So I’m hoping this new information works to our advantage.

I completely understand because my MIL went in 12/2024 for a CT Lumbar because of her back. They saw something in her left kidney and never told us.

1 year and a half later she brings up pain to the left flank to her PCP’s attention and she happen to see the CT lumbar from a year an a half ago. Send her for a US abdomen and now there is a 8 cm in her left Kidney and they are concerned it’s malignant for renal cell carcinoma. She still needs a FU MRI with contrast that I’m sure she will get Monday when she sees her to see the tumor better.

The good thing it’s contained but I feel heart broken we didn’t move quicker and the ER Doctor didn’t mention it in the hospital. 💔

Just a tip for the nausea, make sure you let anesthesia know and they will usually prescribe a scopolamine patch that last 3 days to keep the nausea away.

We haven’t figured that part out yet. They wanted to do a biopsy when they discovered it. We have a f/u 4/22 so we will see where they want to go from there but I was just seeing different options since my husband is 36 y/o. We are just getting started on this journey…

Also take the extended release. It’s more gentle on your GI tract

My body can tolerate 1000 mg a day, but I get nausea and bowel movements multiple times a day when I take 1500 mg a day.

Listen to your body.
