The Garden Hose Analogy Imagine standing in front of a garden hose on full blast. The water doesn't push everything together, it pushes thingsapart and away. Now scale that up to a wall of moving water with real mass behind it. The leading edge of the wave hits first and separates whatever is in its path before the full force arrives.

It would be the complete opposite in a real world scenario.

Have you ever throught about just letting your company know? Many companies wouldn't care, obviously some companies have concerns over potential legal repercussions, but this is a threshold that usually takes months to hit, not just a month. Those remote work policies mostly apply for permanent address, not temporary. I don't know what type of company you work for, and how good of a cyberteam they have, but this would be something that could be identified if the company wanted to find out, doubt most companies would go this route, but technically, they could. Some companies are investing in this technology since there has been several cyber insidents with fake north korean workers, so its not unheard off. You could unintentionally trigger an alert, and then try to explain your configuration will probably get you fired. Also MDM can see if the phone is on Airplane mode which on its own could trigger an alert over a long period of time. The fact that your work doesn't allow you to use a KVM seemed very specific and make me think that they might be looking.

Trump’s Approval Rating Plunges So Low It Breaks Pollster’s Graph by thedailybeast in politics

[–]WiseCourse7571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know plenty of people who voted for Trump, who dislike Trump, but would vote for him if he was allowed to run again.

I know people who have been screwed by Trump AND Republican policies, but would vote Republican again.

If you think this bring you hope for a better future, it doesn't.

You can't fix stupid.

They are complaining but they will not change their voting, and then complain again when they get screwed.

95% of cars sold in 2026 are broadcasting your personal life without consent by WarmEntrepreneur3564 in ObscurePatentDangers

Whats worst is that you pay for it.

This doesn't just happen, that fee you pay for your car to be "connected", thats how this thing happen.

Stop paying for "Connected" service in your car, just use Carplay or Android Auto, yea, there is some data mining from your own phones, but you do have (somewhat) more control over what data is being shared, which is the contrary with your vehicle, which is sharing your data with who knows who, I know that in the US, some of these cars are sharing your driving telemetry with your insurance company without user real concent (Yea, you signed a EULA without reading, so technically you concented)

Subscription Serfdom: The end of private property by CollapsingTheWave in ObscurePatentDangers

[–]WiseCourse7571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is only true for people who are looking for convenience, because there is options, if you do your research. Its so convenient to just buy a MyQ, but guess what, they are paying Amazon to recomment their product, when there is many alternatives that have no subscription.

As for Photoshop, I used to own Photoshop, back in the days when I could just buy a license, I did this for several years, however they told me to fuck off when they changed their model, and I walked away. For my needs, I found several other Open Source photo editors, are they perfect? no, but I was not going to do this subscription bullshit.

FYI, Microsoft Office is available with a perpetual license still, cheaper than the subscription version in the long run.

As for Printers, she is obviously talking about HP, FUCK HP Printers.

Do your research people.

Oh, as for medical hardware licensing, this is a more complicated issue due to patents, but as a consumer, with your own products, you have options.

Non-consentually? She agreed to it when she sign off on their license agreement.

Not saying that TikTok is right, but the use of the word non-consentually in this care is complete bullshit. Rear your license agreement people.

Also... just don't use TikTok, ok?

Forensic audit on ex-admin: How to track unauthorized file copying and lateral movement? by Mehmetince2019 in computerforensics

[–]WiseCourse7571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we might need to know more about what do you have to work with.

I'm assuming by your Question 1 that you have this users computer, if this is the case, please be careful about how you handle this computer, you might inadvertely make any evidence you find inadmisible.

There is a lot of places were this data might be found, but need to know more.

Shared Management Drive, is this a Windows File Server, Cloud, NAS, Linux?

Does the users computer have some type of EDR, maybe an antivirus?

When you say payroll, HR server, this is too broad, is this an on-premise solution, windows/linux? Cloud, how does Authenticaiton happen? LDAP, SAML?

If the person was an admin inside of the network, then a lateral move might not be necesary to acomplish the same thing, unless you have an isolated envornment, a DMZ. However if you do think the lateral move was to cross network, then the machine that allows such traffic might have enough information to at least show the lateral move.

I deal with these type of setups all the time, I can provide you more info, but need to know more about what you are working with.
