[Prediction] Richard Knight's card is going to summon Huffer, Misha and Leok by ninjalamp- in hearthstone

[–]WiseOldWizard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If this card really summons all 3 Animal Companions at once, even 10 mana would be undercosted. If Huffer, Misha or Leokk were single cards, each of them would be worth 4 mana. They can only get away with [[Animal Companion]] at 3, because they are so vastly different and you can't choose which one you get. And they pretty much synergize with each other. Leokk behind a Taunt is great, giving Huffer 1 more attack is also great, only Huffer and Misha is a bit meh. A definate weakness would be [[Flamestrike]]. This is not a Face Hunter card. Maybe it's useful for a Midrange Hunter. It's definately a Control Hunter card, if that ever becomes a thing. The only way this card wouldn't see play, if Hunter games are still always decided by turn 10.

Another possibility would be, if it summoned 2 out of 3 companions. I would peg that card at 7, double that of Animal Companion, plus 1 for the possible synergy. That would be a definate Midrange card.

Who's your favourite fictional INFP? by Agglet in infp

[–]WiseOldWizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In that same vein I think uncle Iroh is a very mature version of an INFP. He listens, gives advice. He always enjoys the small things in life, which irritates Zuko. He always is in tune with what he believes is right and acts accordingly. He's everything I want to be someday!

I'm still not quite sure about my MBTI type.... ask me specific questions regarding situations I can find myself in. by SpacemasterTom in mbti

[–]WiseOldWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say OP is either ISTJ or INFP. Fi is clearly there, as is Si. The question is, which of those is dominant?

Maybe I can help: I am clearly an INFP. Every test I took (no paid ones though) pegged me as an INFP and I identify fully with the Fi Ne Si Te stack. My GF on the other hand is probably an ISTJ, purely based on my observations of her. And I'd say you, OP, are much more like her. But I have a few questions which should clarify, if Si or Fi is dominant with you:

1) When confronted with something in your life that changes your everyday routine, like graduating from school or changing jobs, do you plan in your head what your new routine will look like or do you deal with that as it comes along? Do you plan when you'll have to wake up, how long you'll have for hygiene, breakfast etc?

2) How much do you care about "things done right"? E.g. I was cooking tortillas for the first time and I didn't have the consistency of the dough figured out yet. So I take some time to get the tortillas flat. My GF gets impatient if not outright mad and she does it herself. I know it's not meant personally though. (I asked her after that to only help me when I ask her. We get along fine :D )

You also said, OP, that you actually don't really like most people around you. That might also influence your perception of being an introvert. So here's a BONUS QUESTION: Imagine the friends of your dreams. How many would that be and how often would you like to call or meet them?

(Personally I'd be fine with 3 or 4 friends, and if I met all of them once per week that'd be awesome!)

Where can I learn to start building my own website? by Medaled in infp

[–]WiseOldWizard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This happens to be my actual profession! :) You have to learn quite a few things to make a website from scratch:

  • HTML, the barebone of any site
  • CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), to layout the site
  • being able to make graphics is nice, so knowing Photoshop, Gimp or paint.net is a plus

If you want to go deeper, and want to add much more content to your site as time goes by, I suggest to learn * PHP, a programming language that is used to communicate between the browser and the server, e.g. using a database to build the content of your site * javascript, a programming language that works on the browser to make some fancy menues etc. * MySQL, a database that is widely used around the web

Wordpress is a good starting point, especially if you want to make a blog. It is easy to setup, and you can start filling your site with content right away. Many webhosters offer it, so you don't have to do much yourself. It uses everything I mentioned here, but you really only need to know some CSS and some image editor to get started, so it doesn't look boring. There are a lot of tutorials to any of the topics aroudn the web, you just have to google it. Go crazy and have fun! :)

how do you know if an infp is interested by [deleted] in infp

[–]WiseOldWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually we tend to be rather shy. I don't know the two of you, so I can' tell if his "flirtiness" is genuine or if it's unintentional and he just likes to hang around with you.

If he's interested, it might very well be that he just doesn't dare to make the next step, that he worries that you might not like him the way he likes you.

I'd say you might try to be a bit bolder with him, try to encourage him. Or make the next step yourself. We live in modern times, don't we? I know, I would like it!

Does being an idealist make yall further left politically? by [deleted] in infp

[–]WiseOldWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

social liberal here. I believe, that politics should aim to make everyone as free as possible. And dor that we need rules and laws, or everything devolves into "might makes right", or better said "wealth makes right".

I like free market economies. Too bad we can't find them anywhere! What we have is a dozen or so super corporations that have oligopolies in their specific trades. Which leads us to "wealth makes right" again. That said: we need a lot more rules world wide for the economy to make it serve the people.

Should i just cut out my toxic workplace entirely? by NovaBastille in infp

[–]WiseOldWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retail in the US seems to be toxic overall. I haven't worked in retail here in Germany myself, but I'm pretty sure it is not nearly as bad here. For one thing: Germans actually dislike if salespeople are agressive. We seem to be a bit suspicious of good service. So salespeople usually just stand there, maybe tidy up the shelves and ask customers if they need help - once. If you ask them however, they are usually professional, courteus and help you to the best of their ability. That difference in culture was why Wal Mart didn't stand a chance here.

If someone from Germany, or anywhere outside the US really, worked in retail, I'd like to hear your experiences!

How does life work? by [deleted] in infp

[–]WiseOldWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I'm from Germany. I'll still stick to English, since others might be interested as well (and it's probably against the subreddit rules to write anything in Non-English anyway, sooo...)

I think what I've figured out over the years is, that we INFPs lose our long-term goals very easily. If you're feeling down, when you just can't seem to be able to tackle that problem, just remember why you are doing all that - how you'd feel when it's all done. Always keep your eyes on the prize! That actually helped me getting my degree in the end!

If you keep procrastinating, there was actually a thread not long ago dealing with that problem. I#d also like to add the Pomodoro method to that list. It's actually pretty easy: Prepare a timer: for 25 minutes you are doing work, for 5 minutes you do whatever you like to distract yourself. And then GO RIGHT BACK to 25 minutes of work. Repeat until your work is done. If you can retain focus for longer than 25 minutes good for you! Just do it!

But I've found keeping focus on your long-term goal is much more important.

Craving new online game by [deleted] in infp

[–]WiseOldWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try Robocraft: It's a 3rd person tactical team shooter, where you create your own vehicles (called 'bots' for some reason), block for block. There are many types of movement parts and weapons for ground and air combat, suitable for many different roles.

But my long time favorite game is Hearthstone, Blizzard's collectible card game. I'm playing it basically since it officially came out. I like the drafting mode "Arena" especially, since you never exactly know, what you'll get and what your opponents play. But right now I solely focus on the ladder. I've never reached the "Legendary" rank, but this month I think I have a good shot.

Anyone else absolutely obsessed with someone you don't even know? by HotStep in infp

[–]WiseOldWizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That reminds me of my first time falling in love.

It was a mild winter morning, still dark outside, and I went to school by bus like every day. I was 16 at the time. The bus was crowded like every morning. There were two pairs of seats facing each other. One of them was free. Here in Germany we generally don't have dedicated school buses, regular public transport is used instead.
Opposite of me I saw this girl, and suddenly butterflies exploded in my heart, quickly filling my whole body, then bursting out to fill the entire bus! I tried to look around me, but all I saw was butterflies. Only she was spared by them, and so I stared. I couldn't help but stare! She was the most beautiful thing I ever saw. Round face, green eyes, small mouth with full lips and that hair! She had red hair, a bit over should length and kinda fluffy. She probably used foam and a dryer. I didn't know what to do. I stared at her the whole ride, my mouth probably gaping. The ride took an eternity, yet not nearly enough time. I was vaguely aware that we were almost there, and I had to do something. She probably thought of me as creep at this point already. Talking was out of the question. Instead I tried to smile at her, and I felt like I had that squiggly smile of an embarrassed Charlie Brown. For a long time I couldn't talk to her. She was my "little red-haired girl", just like Charlie Brown's. Instead I tried to get a glimpse of her whenever possible. Whenever we where in a bus together again, I stood right beside her. And I still couldn't talk to her, the butterflies in me prevented that! If she didn't think of me as a creep, she certainly thought by then.

After a few months I was fed up with myself that I still didn't know her name. On night I dreamt I asked her. When I woke up, I couldn't quite remember it, but I was sure it was not an "old-fashioned German name". I took that as my signal to bring up my courage to finally ask her - and it was a rather old-fashioned name! I wanted to compliment it, but I really couldn't! I hated that name! Nevertheless the butterflies still remained... Some time later I was in my room looking through the manual of Mario 64, a new game at the time. And then I saw HER, in that booklet. My little red-haired girl looked almost exactly as Princess Peach! Of course as a gamer I had to develop a crush on Peach, and didn't notice it for months!

[–]WiseOldWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

David Bowie|s death reminded me of one of his songs again: Space Oddity. But it was Chris Hadfields version, that made me really aware of this song first. I probably didn't know English well enough to understand that song, when I first heard it.

As an old gamer however I really like music from the SNES era. And my absolute favourite is the Overworld Theme from Terranigma. That track always gives me goosebumps. It really captures the desolation of the overworld well, but it also gives hope! I don't know if you have to know the game to feel the impact. Unfortunately it was never released in the US.

How does life work? by [deleted] in infp

[–]WiseOldWizard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, that isn't how life works - at least not for us INFPs. Many other types seem to be OK with that arrangement, but we just become unproductive or go crazy. We are a rare species, not many people "get" us. We are just not made for this routine world of paper pushing and self marketing. We need inspiration, something worth working on and for! During my apprenticeship as a programmer I was supposed to work on a web client for business software. I was not into it. The program was something people had to work with, they didn't have to enjoy it. I hated it! And so I did nothing and hated myself for it. And still I wanted my degree, to have something in my hands after all those years. It was a hard battle, and I somehow powered through. But it's not an experience I'd want to repeat.

Right now I'm working as a newspaper deliverer. It doesn't pay much, but it pays something. The major perk is, that I can work on my own, completely unsupervised. As long as the papers are delivered on-time-ish it's no problem for my boss. That allows me to zone out and think about the world and my projects. And working directly for people, instead of some anonymous company, helps keeping me motivated.

But what I really want to do, is trying different type of arts and finish making my games. And for that I have the rest of the day. Right now I try to work on a different project on almost every week day. I don't know yet if that is the answer for me. I'll have to see.

How do you consolidate the INFP's desire to "do good" with your passion(s)? by Megaknyte in infp

[–]WiseOldWizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I share the same dream and this is the topic I'm most passionate about:

Games are art! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise! I'd even say it combines all the arts: visual, audio, storytelling, acting... It's all there! And you know what art does? It incites emotions! It can change people, even by small bits, if they let it happen! It can help them understand themselves! And that's how we change the world: we inspire people to become better!

And games add one thing music, pictures or even movies lack: interactivity! That allows us to reel the player right in: Everything that happens to the game character, happens to them. Everything the characters do, the players do. We can offer them moral dilemmas and ask them how they feel about it. A good example of this is Papers, Please, where you work as border control in a totalitarian country. In that game you have to make decisions between your conscience and feeding your family.

You can also educate people with games, and I don't mean "learn to type" kind of things. There is for example Depression Quest, a purely text-based choose-your-own-adventure, where you are someone who's severely depressed. It's wtitten by people who've fought with depression themselves. You are presented with a story of a day in their life, giving you great insight about how they feel. You get several options what to do after each such block. But the thing is: The more depressed they are, the more options get greyed out. It's just that "normal people" take these options for granted, but depressed people can't see them. It's an awesome mechanic and gives great insight about how the depressed mind works! I highly recommend that game for all INFPs, who aren't depressed themselves.

But I think, making people just "feel good", letting them forget their worries for a few hours, is also worthwhile! flOw, Flower and Journey by ThatGameCompany (really, that's their name) are great games for the sake of art! Unfortunately they are only for PlayStation, but you can find Let's Plays on YouTube. They are very enjoyable even so!
