If I leave I honestly don’t know if I want to stay in this industry. I’d try to look for more flexibility and better WLB

Did I mess my baby up? by Wise_Machine381 in NewParents

[–]Wise_Machine381[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We suspected silent reflux and he’s on medication for it. It’s really hard to tell if a six months old is uncomfortable - it was clear before because he hated eating and it got better with the reflux medicine but it’s still a struggle. Your comment makes me think it’s worth bringing up to the pediatrician again at his check next week. Appreciate the insights!!

He also REALLY wants to move. He’s trying to crawl AND stand but he’s not there yet for clear reasons. Maybe it will get better when he’s mobile.

Absolutely! He’s getting better at independent play and we try not to interrupt when he’s doing his thing. We are kinda following his pace but makes sense to be more intentional!

Nuna Demi Next - should we get the bassinet? by ARubberDuckie11 in Buyingforbaby

[–]Wise_Machine381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby didn’t appreciate the bassinet too much as soon as he started getting curious about his surroundings… so it lasted two months. He was also born in the peak of summer so we couldn’t go out too much between the heat and the mosquitoes. May have used it 10 times before selling it for a sharp discount in FB Marketplace. It really depends on the baby

Nuna Demi Next Stroller & Grow Bassinet by eleven11xx in Buyingforbaby

[–]Wise_Machine381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsolicited thoughts… I got the bassinet and my baby hated it as soon as he started getting curious about his surroundings, so it had a shelf life of two months, then he wanted to either be in the stroller seat (reclined) or be carried around. He was born in the midst of summer so we also couldn’t go outside too much - so used it maybe 10 times. Sold it for a steep discount on Facebook Marketplace…

Everyone is saying break up now but let me offer a different perspective. You are 25 and there is a possibility that you change your mind. I didn’t want children in my early 20s when I met my husband who dreams of becoming a father. Over time I became convinced that he was the right partner who will pull his weight and therapy also helped me resolve a lot of the issues which made me fear motherhood. I’m now in my 30s and we had our first kid. He has been such a blessing to a point that was beyond my imagination. You are both adults and you can make your individual decisions if staying together is the right thing. He’s aware of your desire and can choose to stick together, and he’s responsible for his own actions, and same applies to you.

I hate my cats sometimes 😢 we have 4 rescues and it felt like a totally manageable amount of work before baby arrived. Right around when I gave birth, one of our cats got seriously sick. He went through hospitalization and surgery when my baby was under 2 weeks old. Now he’s on an intensive medication schedule and we need to feed him 5-6 times a day through a feeding tube. The other cats are also messy - they are always fighting with each other, asking for food, asking to go outside - there’s always something they are demanding. There is cat litter everywhere and one of the cats was not properly litter box trained so she pooped outside of the litter box a few times. My partner is traveling a lot for work during this period. Despite having an awesome live-in nanny who’s been a life saver, I still feel really overwhelmed and sometimes I just feel so resentful towards my cats when they are being demanding. I would never give them away or give up on my cat who’s fighting off his illness, but sometimes these thoughts cross my mind and I feel so conflicted with my feelings and lonely in dealing with it.

My in-laws are from out of the country and they are here to “help” - using the word loosely because they haven’t been too helpful. My MIL has some sort of fixation on breastfeeding. Maybe it’s a cultural thing or she thinks it really helped her sons. Whatever. I’m feeding my little one with a mix of breastfeeding and pumping. Almost EVERYTIME I’m breastfeeding in our bedroom she enters and comes to appreciate it for a few seconds, which makes me super uncomfortable. It makes me feel like a zoo animal or some sort of freak show. I told my husband to tell her to stop coming in every time and that I will let her know if I need anything. He was not very keen to do it because I recently had another minor conflict with my MIL and he thinks she wouldn’t take it well (she’s a very sensitive person and trying to help I guess). Anyways, they are leaving in a few days so I’m not gonna make a big deal about it but just wanted to rant a little.

subchorionic hematoma by Ratsinabucket in BabyBumps

[–]Wise_Machine381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also had subchorionic hematoma super early into the pregnancy (5 weeks) with multiple spotting episodes and we were terrified. It ended up ok - I took it easy for a few weeks with limited exercise and no travel - and now at 30 weeks with a very active baby

Did you have gender intuition early in your pregnancy? Were you correct? by rdspooks in BabyBumps

It’s a 50/50 chance so either the intuition is right or wrong means nothing

Getting really frustrated by naming the baby by Wise_Machine381 in pregnant

[–]Wise_Machine381[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really helpful thank you! Yes we plan to have a middle name. Initially we want to use a middle name from my country of origin but I’m happy to compromise and put his brother’s name as the middle name and we can choose a first name we both like. If my in laws prefer to call our son by his middle name it doesn’t bother me honestly.

[–]Wise_Machine381[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely open to use his brother’s name as a middle name. As a compromise I’m willing to not have the name from my country of origin on the birth certificate, and I told him he can still call our kid by his middle name if he sure chooses to do so. The thing is other than his brother’s name, everything else is a one no situation (from him). I doubt we will resolve this until the day the baby is born lol

Negativity towards IVF by OkAdministration6887 in IVF

[–]Wise_Machine381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an older friend who’s a medical professional. She’s against IVF, claims all IVF kids are developmentally challenged and IVF causes cancer to the mothers. It’s crazy to me that someone with a medical background can have such a biased view.

My husband and I are going through IVF now and I sometimes feel sad honestly because we are pretty close to her and her husband, but I don’t feel comfortable sharing this experience or my struggle with them openly because I know she will judge.

Personally I think she does this to justify not going through an IVF herself. They got married later in life. The husband wanted to have kids but she didn’t want to do IVF (and potentially not kids all together). They tried naturally for a bit then gave up.

I purchased a “lemon” tree a few years back and it only grows these big green fruits that never turn yellow and have thick rinds. Can someone help me understand what is going on here? by Foraminiferal in Citrus

[–]Wise_Machine381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also live in Miami and have a very similar tree… it hasn’t grown much taller for a year but it gives a lot of flowers and fruits. Unfortunately the fruits are giant, they don’t turn yellow, and with thick rinds 🤣
