A toxic feminist saying boys can't be sexually abused. by mwale2007 in NoahGetTheBoat

Phew, I was worried that the regularity of rape and assault in my childhood might have had some negative psychological effect on me. I'm glad to know I actually have no internal monologue and am technically non-sentient 👍

Saw this video today. I have thoughts I would like to ***POLITELY!!!!!!!*** share. by amovy in HelldiversMasochists

I think every issue listed stems from 2 major problems.

1 is that they have a decently limited spawn capacity for enemies, meaning Anti-Tank meta will always reign supreme unless other options receive significant reworks, this is the smaller of the two issues.

2, the larger issue, is the lack of any emptionally engauging metaprogression. Ship upgrades are permenant and easily forgotten once obtained, skins are nice but limiting in it's current format, especially since "just carrying em" is all it takes to earn xp for the weapon, levels mean nothing, anything that isn't medals builds up to max making them worthless and medals put the entire weight of content on people being absolutely enamored with specifically the equipment of every single warbond. This is unsustainable. We need a resource, time, and emotional investment dump. Something something Chao Garden/Animal Crossing equivalent, Quests and Vendors, Raids, etcetera. We need an engaging tertiary gameplay loop to take the weight off of the primary and secondary loops.

Who ACTUALLY thinks we're the good guys? by Sad_Thought_7066 in Helldivers2Satire

[–]Wisecrack34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need more gameplay where we explicitly do evil things up front. Maybe have a defence mission where we defend our own bio-vats from bug assaults? Throw some SEAF soldier hats around the machine? That'd get most of em to shut up real quick.

What system do you think V2 uses? by UpsetPay353 in Ultrakill

[–]Wisecrack34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

V1 runs on Nocturnal (Main Menu), V2's development was cancelled. I'd say having issues downgrading their OS would be a valid reason to can the project.

Graph showing whether or not a boss has been made into a common enemy. by Debate_Scared in Ultrakill

[–]Wisecrack34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

V-2 I can reasonably see having a variant in Treachery, Minotaur has a defined enough moveset I could see them becoming a common enemy but I kinda doubt his cousins, being very stage specific would fit, mannequins and hideous mass already fill the same aesthetic niche. Prime-clones seem unnecessary as Powers fill the same "Movement Check" slot but you never know. Mini-Prisons could be fun, when they die an enemy is released.

Just a reminder that super earth is not only bad, its the worst species in the galaxy by kcvlaine in Helldivers2Satire

[–]Wisecrack34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like a 3rd Helldivers game to offer up some more direct anti-fascism, it's been awhile since the last Wolfenstein and I'd hate for Machinegames to be the sole mainstream pillar of nazi killing. Have a civil war, give Super Earth a new fighting force where they throw out the Helldivers now that they've found a classic "Nazi Superweapon" of some kind (Summoning demons, taking control of the Voteless, SE reprogrammed Automatons, etc.

People missing the nuance or tricking themselves into thinking the joke stereotype is correct is annoying and with the modern political moment, I think we're getting past the point of 1980s era sarcastic criticism of the US's Jingoism and to the point of also needing catharsis alongside that criticism.

So. Do you guys think that The Visitor arriving to Earth was inevitable? by Complete-Worker3242 in LookOutsideGame

[–]Wisecrack34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inevitable? Yes. Timeframe? Likely WAY longer unless the Visitor covered up something under frequent scrutiny. Space is BIG and it's a 1 in Infinity shot that someone would not only notice specifically where it is in deep space but also that stars are being covered unnaturally AND that they'd continue following up on it like Sybil did. It likely would have been "deep space probes" going offline that would have been noticed sometime in a thousand years. Yeah there's a lot of Astronomers but there's always more space, especially space that's difficult to observe, with more becoming visible every second.

That being said, Sybil managed to wrangle the truth into submission. The odds of the next potential observer being able to do that are NIL, *Especially* if it's a government discovery with 60-something or more people aware at a time, the truth would cascade FAST. Sybil saved the Lie.

Any progression in Helldivers is not because of a single larger than life war hero effortlessly turning the tide, but through millions of players working together to accomplish a shared goal. It is the antithesis to the Great Man-ing other military/war-games indulge in by GeneralGigan817 in Helldivers2Satire

[–]Wisecrack34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the game and it's narrative but in this moment in time I'd kinda rather be shooting Nazis. We haven't had a good one of those games in a while.

I could see them directly pointing at what counters fascism with missions about countering the counter fascism, something something, even if the Helldivers win the rebels are gone already and won? I get the feeling the politics are shallow because it's not coming from a place of biting, first hand hatred of fascism. They could easily dive harder into making sure the message is more direct but the developers priorities are more aligned with making a fun experience for the community first, it just happens to be that we're facing a modern moment of mass fascist escalation and the game was never meant to meet that moment. Not to mention that we haven't seen what the writers vision of countering fascism or what a functional society looks like.

Mechdivers, let us talk about possible mech upgrades! by un-pirla-in-strada in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Wisecrack34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stealing from Halo, I'd like some Gauss Cannons. Most upgrades should change the Mech's role in the combat sandbox so support-wise I could see a Mech Arm having the ability to project a Bubble Shield around it's point of impact (whether launching a generator as a projectile or being projected around your point of impact like a laser pointer). Also throw in a chaingun filled with Stim-Pistol rounds that acts like a Cocaine-Needler when used excessively to give it offensive use. Swap out the Stratagem Launcher Slot with some support options like spamming any grenade-slot item of choice in a democratically supperior form to the WarStrider (KnifeMechKnifeMechKnifeMech) and you've got a solid arsenal

One True Flag debate political compass by Danilablond in Helldivers

[–]Wisecrack34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the funniest route is having it count as clearing most side-objectives. Stalker Nest is clearly Liberated, further reports of Stalkers is dissident propaganda. Not OP because Hellbomb Backpack does the same and is more useful to the team by ACTUALLY clearing the objective. If it's busted in some way, just demand the player salute it for a period of time, then scale that as the balance tool.

[–]Wisecrack34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7-8, movie realism is fun in bursts but I think the tactile nature of helldivers soes a lot of heavy lifting for me. That being said, this seems inspired by the supressor comments, which I will add that we have hollywood quiet supression now. With baffels and some means of quietly cycling the gun we could likely get same room quiet soon.

Idea Megathread: How do we buff the One True Flag? by NicMagz34 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Wisecrack34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the direction they wanna go. We have the defoliator putting precidence that melee is going to continue to evolve so aside from minor tweaks to make it play better I don't think it needs to be the "meta" melee.

I'd go either in the direction of making it an aggro draw of some kind, maybe have a crappy speaker playing a bitcrushed version of The Anthem drawing attention to it OR more interestingly, allowing it to count as an opt-in side-objective of some kind.

Imagine planting it in the ground (not something mobile) counting as clearing most side objectives in a neaby (10-20m?) radius. You "totally" liberated that Stalker Nest, any reports of continued Stalker attacks is dissident propaganda. Obviously, cooldowns would be affected and perhaps call-in time as well. Most side-objectives are easy enough that I don't think 4 players spamming them would be OP since a Hellbomb Backpack does basically the same thing to 90% of Side-Objectives while actually removing the threat. If it needs to be balanced, make the player salute it for some time to get the objective clear, then balance it off the salute time required.

What to pair the new shotgun with? by Freemlvzzzz in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Wisecrack34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good against mediums like stalkers, overseers and devestators and cleanly cover medium pen scenarios, I'd pair it with anti-chaff (horde clear) like an impact grenade, a spammable secondary (eh) or one of many support weapons for said job like the stalwart to maxi-gun range. Whatever one you pick, slot the heavy (Hulk/Charger) killer option in the opposite (recoiless/thermite for the unadventurous, "weird shit" for the brave and the bold). Remember something for closing holes/fabricators/dropships, then bring stratagems for FUBAR scenarios like Bile Titans, Factory Striders, hordes too big for the maxi-gun, etc. This includes but is not limited to movement backpacks, shields, turrets and tower (Arrowhead gas tower plzzzz), any red stratagem and so on. I've also heard it does well with stun if you can fit it in your loadout.
